nah in xp it only needs 8mb to sustain xp which is still used in game and in windows 7 uses 78mb-90mb even with aero turned off and still uses that up ingame

hiiii, interesting point, i have a x3100 on my vaio laptop, but my driver intel only give me 128 mb for xp, it's a crime, with 3gb ram 2.1 core 2 duo and 128 VIDEO CARD? i will appreciate your help

weird, shouldn't be 128 mb...mine show 384.0Mb in dxdiag....maybe is your bios setting try changing something in your bios...i rmb reading somewhere about bios controlled the amount of shared ram in some pc(mine don't have this problem XD)

the key to making a game faster on your laptop is simply by adding ram,cause i played nfs most wanted on 2 gb and it was pretty slow and ok but when i added the 2gb ram more to 4 gb it got way faster and the graphics were also way better,adding ram costed me 1250 rupees in india,in america that should be around 25 or 24 dollars and my laptops also got x3100.

No, gta 4 doesn't even run good on high-end graphics cards (like the HD 4850 which is in my computer)

vlekkietwinnie thats an issue with ati drivers.... my 8800GT runs it quite nicely around 25fps using no restrictions everything maxed except textures. textures r on medium cuz they dont load fast enough so every where i go i have no textures. also my 8800gt is a volt modded reference card. if i put shadow density to 0 it runs smoother (main slow down is from headlights when shadow density is on then i get 20fps. shadow density to 0 give me solid 25-30fps no matter is its night or day time

But 20-30FPS is not always playable I get a little bit better performance but on the lowest I can't even get 60FPS

um how can 30fps not be playable.... ur eyes only see 27fps (i think it was 27) so the game is playing faster than ur eyes can see if u running 30fps.... and 20fps is alot more playable then 15 or 10fps... also most console only run games at 25-35fps...

Eyes can see more then 27 frames a second and if it is 30 it will also go much lower that is what i mean

no the eyes can only see 27 or so fps any faster will be smoother not a frame by frame type of thing. so ur eyes will miss some frames or so

the thing about the x3100 chipsets is that they can only play games at a smooth rate on ones released before 2006, so there are a couple of good games to be played but nothing of massive graphical content like crysis or anything, i get decent results on games with my x3100 and my specs are:

2Ghz Dual core

2Gb RAM

Oh man that depth of field is killing your machine.If you want playable fps TURN OFF the PostFX option in the video settings.

Imposible- x3100 is godd to 2d games, but for example far cry is the nighest level of 3d graphic on that accelelator
