  • If you want to tune the engine do it properly. New rods , pistons, main bearings, main caps, ARP bolts, valves, lifters everything and that MUST work.

    Who the fuck would aim 500 hp with stock turbo or stock rods you must be mental.

  • Stock rods WILL hold up to 450-500hp depending on the tune! It has been proven and i have some friends with 450hp on stock bottom end on aan. Stock k24 will hit 320 on a good tune

  • @toxa56 Stock rods on a decent engine will hold to 450 yes but any more than that isn't safe, its gambling. stock k24 stops around 300, 320 is a bit much ;)

  • you guys are just crazy. Damn, i live in the wrong country for car-modding... Switzerland just sucks if you're a carenthusiast... Just an example, if you're trying to make a non-turbo car to a street legal turbo car, you need at least 15'000 Sfr (Around 14'000$) just for the approval, and just because you pay the money, it's not guaranteed that they will accept the car -.-

  • yeah 500 from a k24 is pretty exaggerated. but 500 on stock motor no problem. at the rods limits.

  • OR, it comes stock 2.2l. In that case it would consist of all of the steps mentioned aside from the stroking of the block as it is already 2.2l. So it would just require stronger internals.

  • These motors are just over 2.2l stock and with stock internals are good for 500 HP. Tuners have reached 500 HP on this motor with the stock K24 turbo. Many different ways to tune this engine and the potential is insane. I drive one every day!

  • Well there you have it (getdrunk1990) Apparently there are 100s of combinations for tuning this motor to achieve a target HP. I tried to make it a little less vague for ya' haha!

  • @jeppetok rods at 500? hmm.. ok try that and see what happens :) i know many who has beend rods with the RS2 setup.approx 380\400bhp but the pistons did jonus drag audi used up to 800 :)

  • @stianwang More like maxed at 295-300 and even if it reach 300+ the turbo will be overloaded as hell

  • @stianwang you can run 450+ hp on stock rods, but the ecu mapping needs to be mapped to develop less torque across the rev range. personally A: i wouldn't take the risk, and B: 'Torque' is the thing that pushes you back in your seat so your missing out on some of the fun if you stick with standard rods and lower torque. But not everyone's pockets are that deep i guess. :(

  • @beemoyo 500bhp with the stock k24-7000? mate I'm sorry but you have no idea about this. The stock K24 goes out of efficiency at 280-290bhp and decreases it's flow dramaticly right after 6k rpm, maybe you can reach 300 with a few tricks but just a few ppl know how to. cheers.

  • @fab069 I drive I 1990 coupe quattro with an AAN swap from a 97 S6. I'm running around 300 crank hp although it's hard to tell really because different dynos give me diff results. I miss read an old tuners page, he reached 510 bhp with a slightly larger K26 turbo which was stock on his 5000cs, here's the website w w w.intendedacceleration.c om/html/projects.html

    I have 2 of these motors and no you cant hit 500 hp on the stock K24, max is about 290 if you're a skilled tuner with other upgrades. 500 HP needs a turbo about 3 times as big.
