It happen sometimes in every player got overconfedent, and that's what happen to wesley in the game. But don't worry Bro, you still like Manny Pacquiao of the philippine chess.
Communication experts say 75% of communication is NON VERBAL and that includes hand gestures and body language. I should suggest that Giri could have just move the mating move without making those gestures to Wesley So. Giri should have realized that this game could had been won by So but luckily, it went on his side after that blunder.
@dynamitedanny I agree Giri gestures and body language in last moment in the game look offensive, but, as @ZviagintsevKrasenkov points, it probabbly wasn't that meaning what he wanted to express.
I reviewed the game, don't see any phase where black (GM Giri) gained an advanctage, until the 36.Ne2?? move which spoilt an otherwise flawless game. claiming that black is better in the game is plainly wrong. In fact black is resignable, only waiting for white to make a mistake.
@georgegrasser the King of the Winner is put in the middle of the board (if there is a draw both Kings are put in the middle), so the Spectators can see who won the game.
@Vonzi0000 Yes, I've noticed this on some boards as well. I think they put both kings in the center of the board, facing each other. If it is a draw, then the kings stay on their respective colors (black on black, white on white). If it is a decisive game, then both kings are put on the color of the winning side. Can someone please confirm if this is indeed so?
Very good video. Thank you for posting. Giri is such a nice man. I wonder how many languages he can hold a reasonable conversation in? So was unlucky; that is an easy #2 to miss; even Kramnik missed a similar #1 against Fritz.
No offense but Anish Giri is just too lucky on that game with Wesley so he has to humble himself. That's his "first and very last game he could ever win a game with Wesley". I don't like the way he is trying to move his hand there so boastful "if he wants to move a piece just move it he doesnt have to make any extra gesture like that (try to watch the video ok).
I agree with your comments. Giri was too flamboyant with his hand-gestures as he made the winning move. But he IS only a boy, and we have all been guilty of antagonising opponents.
Once again I just feel that I have to comment on this. Yes he is just a boy and have been a chessmaster already so he should know and learn from this. But yes I agree that somehow when I read your response it lessens my bitterness on him knowing that he is just a boy.
@kennedyrojas Actually Giri is humble on his interview and give some credit to his opponent.Maybe his hand gestures here was misinterpreted(and many well-respected GM's are also guilty of this).I know Mr.Giri personally and he's a nice, humble and good guy so GIRI is the BEST.

Who is that guy that always jumps in at the end and grabs the Kings? What the hell is that all about?

He is the "referee". This is a way to tell the computer that the game is over. (And maybe telling what the result was).
