And their idea consisted of systematically erradicating all the lifeforms wirth radiation by the use of a virus called FEV that was supposed to be put into the sea and carrien to the coasts.
But they failed because the Chosen one (player) blew up their inner labs that caused a nuclear chain reaction (the nuke on vid)

You gotta give it to the pre-war people in this world, they built shit to LAST. Seriously, that tanker has been docked in San Fransisco for almost 200 years at that point, and all you had to do was refill the fuel and it was good to go.

I agree. FO3 and FONV are pretty cool and stuff, and although I've never palyed FO2 or FO1, only heard stories, I gotta say, their storylines sound way better. However the Enclave are a threat too often. And Super Mutants. I think the boys in the Fallout lab need to think up something new. Something exciting, deadly, mysterious and scary. I liked the occaisional parts in FO3 and New Vegas where you get creeped out by certain myserious transmissions or stories. They need to make them come to life

I'm kinda disappointed that Mark Morgan isn't composing the Fallout Las Vegas music. I don't think anyone can make Fallout feel the way it is like his music did.
Fallout 2 came out in 1999, and it's still by far the most open-ended game I have ever encountered, you start off in a small village with a goal, and however you end up at your eventual destination is entirely up to you.
And this is without even taking into account the colossal variety in how different characters will interact with the game. Play with an INT of less than 4 and carry out your conversations with the mentality of a toddler! Be charismatic and win without firing a single shot!

@felipefritschf from what i heard, it will be better than fallout 3.. better shooter and better role playing.. they made it so now when you aim with a gun you look down the sights for more accurate shots.. plus they have a hardcore mode which makes the game realistic cos it makes it so you have to drink water and eat food to survive, plus wounds dont heal as quickly.. cant wait!!!
Fallout 2 and 1 (that order) are my favorites but Fallout 3 is a quite good tribute game to fallout 1. Although the combat in F3 gets a bit boring (hide behind trees, wait for ap to regenerate, aim for head, slomo, repeat), its not as bad as I was afraid it would be from the screenshots

i prefer f3 to be totally honest. fallout 1 + 2 are great but what lets it down is the turn based system. the storylines make sense and the ive never cared about graphics though. i dont like the way that enemies that are running away are just walking. and they stop every time you shoot. in the turn based system you can think about what your doing and plan it out. i prefer to have to make the battle decisions instantly like in f3.
Of course Fallout 2 is great. But didn't Fallout 3 also create a great atmospere (which for me plays a vital role)? Methods of atmosphere creation changed but in the end you cannot name a good game shit. As for "shooter for kids" - I would advice you to to play on higher difficulties - this is where the Rpg elements become more needed.

@IamJigle These games were made in the mid-90's. They weren't like games and consumers these days where everyone DEMANDS perfection from a game in order to buy it. The combat system might've sucked in today's standards but back then, I would of waited about 5 minutes for everyone to move, and even I would still be amazed without Fallout 2. Never forget the difference betwen, not only the standards, but the acceptance from the community for anything, not just games.

Van Buren would have been Simply Jaw-Dropping. I'm sorry, but I don't think much people would want to wait 20 mintues for everyone to have their turn (New Reno: Hookers taking jet, Fken Kids and beggars running away.)

It's so bad that Interplay ruined at 2003/2004. If a little bit more time, and it would be able to come up with Van Buren - cancelled Fallout 3 version by Black Isle - and it would be great. I mean, about like 60-70% of the game was done, and if they would post it at 2004 (approximate date), I'm sure it would be a good game. In there you can actually rotate the camera and zoom in/out. Plus graphics are quite good and you could design your character. Try playing the techdemo. Download it for free
The "VATS" system in fallout 3 kind of breaks the game and turns it into Fallout Jr. It's too damned exploitable. Don't you only take like 10 percent of total damage while in VATS as well?
@spacehead854 but fallout 2 and 1 also had sort of V.A.T.S, it was a weapon mode where you can attack parts of the body and it's kinda like vats it even shows the luck present.
i think the aimed shot made sense for a turn based game that relied only on action points to accomplish anything. i think it took more action points to make an aimed shot as well. consequences of missing the shot were more compared to what occurred in fallout 3. it was usually a risk to do it in 1 and 2
if it wasn't or the high damage resistance bonus and being able to duck behind a corner to go back in full matrix mode in a few seconds it probably would have made more sense for the third one.

@IamJigle These games were made in the mid-90's. They weren't like games and consumers these days where everyone DEMANDS perfection from a game in order to buy it. The combat system might've sucked in today's standards but back then, I would of waited about 5 minutes for everyone to move, and even I would still be amazed without Fallout 2. Never forget the difference betwen, not only the standards, but the acceptance from the community for anything, not just games.

@susukomabristol Take a Look at Van Buren and Fallout Tactics. They weren't going to be turned-based AND they were made by Black Isle aswell. They made it turned-based because it was an old game. Van Buren would have been Simply Jaw-Dropping. I'm sorry, but I don't think much people would want to wait 20 mintues for everyone to have their turn (New Reno: Hookers taking jet, Fken Kids and beggars running away.)

@IamJigle Tactics wasn't made by Black Isle but by Micro Forte, and that's a big diffrence. Anways Van Buren wasn't supposed to by only not turn-based. You could choose if you want to play it with turnbased combat or not

It's so bad that Interplay ruined at 2003/2004. If a little bit more time, and it would be able to come up with Van Buren - cancelled Fallout 3 version by Black Isle - and it would be great. I mean, about like 60-70% of the game was done, and if they would post it at 2004 (approximate date), I'm sure it would be a good game. In there you can actually rotate the camera and zoom in/out. Plus graphics are quite good and you could design your character. Try playing the techdemo. Download it for free

The "VATS" system in fallout 3 kind of breaks the game and turns it into Fallout Jr. It's too damned exploitable. Don't you only take like 10 percent of total damage while in VATS as well?

i think the aimed shot made sense for a turn based game that relied only on action points to accomplish anything. i think it took more action points to make an aimed shot as well. consequences of missing the shot were more compared to what occurred in fallout 3. it was usually a risk to do it in 1 and 2
if it wasn't or the high damage resistance bonus and being able to duck behind a corner to go back in full matrix mode in a few seconds it probably would have made more sense for the third one.

Guys F1 and F2 are amazing games, but the birds eye view wasn't very great, F3 is a awesome game, you just can't accept change, which is usual in gamers. You don't like F3 because it's a diffrent story, not because its bad, its not EXACTLY THE SAME!!! So you don't like that which is retarded if you think about. But you'll love fallout New vegas its made by the original Fallout but uses Fallout 3's engine, It's fallout 3 and fallout mixed.

If you have the Fast Shot trait then you can't VATS people. But if you don't just right click on your weapon slot until a circle thingie comes up.
