I have finally come to terms with this. I can appreciate the indeed raw power of this now. But way back in 1977, listening in complete awe to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Rainbow, and so on, I could NOT. I thought, wtf is this garbage, this noise?! My father brought the tape from abroad thinking I might like it because I talked about Lust for Life, I suppose. Eventually I taped something over it. Shortage of tape and so on. But I m now downloading it for fun, hahaha!!!!

people above you, or they think they are above you, hold your job. take them out. what i really mean is: kill them. this is not raciist. you must kill those above you to get their money. kill them get a promotion. kill the person above you. it works, be careful. wear gloves.
Just awesome, the whole album is.Just in case someone wanted to get into Iggy Pop and the stooges, then I highly recomned this album for you,it's just top notch rock n roll right here.
What does he say at the very end...it isn't rip me...I mean the very last thing he says in this song. And also, near the end, he doesn't say "I stick you, you stick me." He says, " I strip you, you strip me." Just thought I'd point that out and ask that question...I'm dying to know what it is that he says at the very end. Thanks.
Don't know if you've found out in the eight months since you posted lol but after listening to it a few times over I think it's either "history" as you suggested (as in the slang term meaning 'finished', i.e. the song) or possibly "kiss the ring" (as in 'pay your respects, peons!').
goddammed good question. finilally one intelligent muthafucker on an Iggy Pop site. that is rare. the answer to your question is: neither. Iggy can play this any day of the week. Actually, he does not prefer garage jams, but he can do it. This is a studio cut of James Williamson on guitar....a brillant Detroit guitarist. Obviously, why would Iggy hire him? And, his work was unprecedented, i mean this guy slayed. and it comes under the heading of Iggy Pop. so be it. it is still good.
Yea hallcyon, your right! I guess I never looked at it that way. That LP does rumble like a frikin frieght train!!!! Could be part production, but I have not heard the remastered version yet. I bought the LP as soon as it came out! Anybody got a tune or 2 from remastered "Raw Power"?
Great stuff no kidding, but was a little dissapointed when Ron Ashton(R.I.P.) was playing mostly bass on Raw Power. Was it something he lost or was going thru or just Williamson brought in fresh energy?
The Stooges had expanded to two guitarists in 70-71, a roadie opposite of Ron. He was fired and James Williamson came in to play guitar. They never recorded at that time. When the entire thing fell apart, Iggy and James decided to keep playing together.
Eventually they wound up in England and were looking for a bassist/drummer for Raw Power with no success. So, the Ashetons came to back them up with Ron on bass and there was a brief tour, but after that, The Stooges broke up for 30 years.
100% exact............soon to be released a LIVE box-set from the period that you mentionned !!!!!! called "you don't want my name" titled from a STOOGES fav. live number!!!! a real KILLER 4 cds set ............
Disappointed? Ron Asheton was the greatest bass guitarist ever! He added more thunder than any other bass play in rock n roll history. Ron on bass is pure electricity flowing as rock n roll!
Without a doubt Ron was the best rock bass player ever ! Just listen to I Got A Right ! Great creative guitarist as well ! Tony Visconti also played great bass for his likewise short tiime! With James on lead The Stooges are the best there ever will be !
Rigggggggggghhhhhhhhhhtttt !!!!! Ron was a MONSTER on bass !!!! a real demon ............just check the intro of the awesome number "the She creatures of Hollywood Hills" ...........Nobody 'll reach his energy !!!!!!!!!!
is this an alternate take?

People can say what they want, but no one besides the MC5 played with such raw intensity at this point in time, they were truly unique.

Frankly, Iggy is God.
He does not play.
All you jerks, everywhere, the time will come, when he is gone, and then...
and then,... you will say he was something.
Jerks, you are all jerks.
