Oh god I still have nightmares about this game, in a good way though. The darkness of it, the macabre visuals, the grotesce story, the hideous races, oh everything, it just makes me flinch and think of horrible things. A very engaging and challenging game none the less. When it comes to platformers and puzzle games, this one I fear and respect. I've never beaten it and I definetly never will. But holy shit does this game rock. I miss these kind of games...

You're right, Flashback was similar. The main character was a bit tougher, you didn't usually die in one hit. It was not made by the same developers; Oddworld was by Oddworld Inhabitants and Flashback was by Delphine Software (which doesn't exist anymore).  It's also a bit like the original Prince of Persia games (not the recent ones).

Just when the game was released, I just happened to be walking past the demo screen in HMV. Abe's face was poking out, saying hello. I stopped me in my tracks and I had to look to see what it was. I bought the game and was over the moon. I wish they'd bring out more 2D platforms like this, but for the 360.
