  • hi. I have the exact same guitar and I was wondering if EJ15 Extra Light strings sound good?

Now I'm playing with medium strings "ernieball" and I do not like them at all.

  • What do you recommend. I have a Finder acoustic guitar with steel strings. I would like to use nylon strings on them. Would you recommend using nylon strings on a guitar that originally had stell strings?

    thanks

  • Should I cover the sound hole with masking tape as instructed by some other videos, to keep from getting steel wool residue, dust, etc., from being attracted to the magnetic pickup inside?

  • This is the best by far video I have seen for restringing I have seen, At a work Andrew

  • fantastic stuff. thank you good sir.

  • Thanks Andrew! First time changing strings. I looked at a lot of videos over the past year and yours is THE BEST. The only part I had trouble with was getting the string wound on the peg cleanly. That was a little harder than expected. In the end all worked out and the guitar looks and plays like new.

  • awesome !!! even the common sense parts are well explained, nice nice :)

  • I've been watching videos all day trying to restring my guitar and this is the only video that helped me. Thank you so much! This is without a doubt one of the best videos for restringing on youtube!

  • Excellent video, definitely the best, informative video about re-stringing on YouTube, thank you!

  • Nice, very disctriptive. One little thing I must point out... When you are unwinding the strings, go much slower than that to prevent a major bow in the neck. That was way too fast.

  • how would you restring an ELECTRIC acoustic guitar?

  • How can you tell if your guitar needs oil or not? I guess it mainly depends on the wood type but will it be brighter or what?

  • Hey guys restringing my guitar for the first time and i need to know i you have to lock it or not

  • Thanks Andrew your video was very informative. I have subscribed since my daughter plays guitar and likes finger picking style. I am sure that your instructions will motivate her greatly. Thanks again : )

  • i have a question, in the holes where the strings go, i noticed where the strings touch the bridge its making a rut, and the strings stay in that little rut, it doesn't affect the tuning intonation or the tone but is that normal?

  • can you get the strings out without cutting them?

  • Great video, thanks!

  • Thank you for the Tutorial. I can now play the Guitar my Grandad gave me :D

  • Hello....I wanna ask you some questions:

    1. I have an acoustic guitar, can I change the neck with a classic guitar neck?!

2.Can I place some electronics in this guitar so I can connect it to an amp?! If I can what should I use (I also don't wanna drill holes in the guitar because it might ruin it's sound quality)

    Thank you!

it have new strings , but every time afeter a wile or afeter a song the 1,2, and 3 strings are detuned!!! how i can fix this?.

  • davey4557...

There is nothing wrong whatsoever with using woodwind boil oil on a guitar neck. It is 100% safe. Only thing is to always use a fresh bottle. After about a year, the mix of water in the bore oil drops below what it should be. After that, the bore oil becomes thick, and it can clog the pores of the wood. Also, to just leave a comment saying, "Do Not Use," is a little strange - what is better? At least give an option!

  • Thanks for such a clear and helpful tutorial!

  • i too had heard that you should change strings one at a time, thanks for this, its gonna be quicker and a whole lot easier to clean now.

  • Extremely helpful, thank you so much!

  • This was great, thanks.

  • this vid wont work

  • Getting the strings on to the headstock is the hardest part for me.

  • The videos about properly maintaining your guitar are awesome. Keep these coming.

  • Comment removed

  • I change them 1 group of 6 at a time on my 12 string - Too lazy to tune it up from raw 0. : )

  • i was just wondering if the same techniques apply to an electric guitar, like winding the 6th, 5th and 4th strings counter-clockwise, and the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st string clockwise or having increasingly more slack as you go from the 6th string to the 1st string.

  • your videos are great.

  • Great video, I tried an amatuer change of an acoustic guitar string set and there were a few problems afterwards because of a few things I did wrong, glad i've seen this video now because it will really help me in the future.

  • i heard that the strings put tension on the guitar neck and that cutting them all off at once can lead to the neck becoming to straight instead of slightly bow'ed. is this true? iv always changed my strings one at a time because of this, but if theres no need then it will save me alot of time. thanks

  • Hello connor703,

I've never changed strings "one by one" on any of my guitars in my over 30 years of playing the instrument. And, I have never - ever had any guitar neck warp or distort in any way in that period as well.

The concept of a neck warping in some way if all of the strings come off, is an urban myth.

Consider also that for long term storage, it is recommended that the strings be released of all their tension. Not maintained with tension.

    Hope this helps,

    Andrew Wasson

  • great!! Recently had to change strings on an avalon and you didnt have the correct type, but this is it!!

Umm, oil..... what price is that and is there cheaper?

  • Hello SkyshooterMatty,

It is, "Woodwind Bore Oil," And, it is very cheap!

    Maybe $5.00 a bottle.

A bottle will last you for many years as a guitarist.

    Thanks for watching,

    Andrew W.

  • In UK money lol :D Thanks :D What about the Wool ?

  • I have links to those products in the sidebar now >
