  • That is part of the problem. Zen is not a religion in the traditional sense. Nor is it really a philosophy. Zen seeks to promote a conscious state of mind. One in which you are aware of yourself completely and paradoxically aware of your ignorance of yourself. Zen is misunderstood because of this. It strives for self-consciousness but is all to aware that we can never understand ourselves absolutely...

  • Thank you for this compilation. It was inspiring and enlightening. I would definitely recommend people to see "Amongst White Clouds."

  • “The text [Sutras] contain the true path to buddhahood. With a little ability ... wherever your mind arrives ... you see, hey! this text talks about that place. Your mind is there, and the text talks about it, so you have arrived there, right? Now if you don't have this ability ... even if you read something in a text ... if your mind isn’t there, then you won’t understand, so you practice more. It’s easy to read a text, difficult to understand it.” — Amongst White Clouds

  • I found this enlightening and it left me strangely peaceful. Thanx!
