I like this guy, he has some good ideas. I would have a lot more respect for the PM and opposition if they weren't so focussed on attacking each other's characters and instead focussed on policies. They're allowed to not like each other, but I think in debate, they really need to get to the stuff Canadians need to know, instead of trying to trip up their opponent's rhetoric. There's such an obsession with making the other person look bad that they forget what they should be talking about.
I agree in the timeframes... 30-some seconds is too short. People try to squeeze in cheap blows, since its more easy to formulate than long thought out answers...
I do not agree with ignoring and opting out of answering a question though...

less rhetoric, more role ofr backbenchers. isnt the problem more that our MPs are idiots with few real questions...? I see a gradual change in parliament coming from the last generation being replaced by a much mroe vigorous and politically stimulated generation of current canadian activists and patriots in their 20s and 30s.
@tyrannicoystercult I don't think it's fair to call the MPs idiots. It's a hard job getting into parliament. I don't think we often sympathize with the amount of pressure these people are under. It's hard to ask good questions when the system is set up to only let the party leaders talk. I think Mr. Chong is right. Getting other members involved keeps everybody on their toes, and that better benefits Canadian constituencies.
