try a rocket stove and use old scrap Wood that fall of the trees to cook with :) grate Video like always check the stove out that i made from hold cooking oil cans
Ive always figured your solar cooking wood be great for slow cooking meats, chili, soups, gumbo etc. All those many thing you can cook in a crock pot. Your turkey pretty much proved my thoughts. All that time your turkey was slow cooking did you just drop it in and forget it? As long as it hovers around 300-350 degrees without having to worry about the lens..thats just about perfect for camping. Just set it up mid-morning...ready for supper early evening.
IF everyone would only cook their Turkeys this way (ones who can and only on good conditions) We'd save millions of dollars total every year ! That means millions of more dollars into other things.. Like Parabolic mirrors ;)
why did dan put his hand in hot oil? hmmmm, beautiful women ALWAYS have the ability to ALWAYS turn off a mans "common sense" part of the his brain. mr. "safety first" got distracted by his own wife. this is why i dont like to work with my wife anymore. i don,t care how mature a man is. when the time comes, he will still act like a dumb teenager in the presents of an attractive woman.

Hey,1991araaron, what do you mean "OLD" people? These are exactly the type of things I love to do with my grandchildren. (Please know that I am just carrying on.) Some of us old fogey's love Science!!
@joemh123 For the oven they were using regular household mirrors. First surface mirrors work better, but plain old household mirrors work. They have a video where they burn stuff with regular household mirrors.
@fridgeways , You could always get an easy bake oven, which has similar effects, but you will need to use electricity. (I just KNOW you will appreciate the tongue in cheek humor!)
Easy bake oven? whats that then light bulb oven?. suppose you could have all the gutters diverting to one downpipe and driving a tiny generator, that way you could power a bulb and at least you could see your uncooked food
@fridgeways Yes, the Easy Bake Oven utilized reflective surfaces and a 100 watt lightbulb. Do they still make those? Anyway, great idea about the generator. This year we had a record amount of rain (since they first began keeping records). Ah, Northeast Ohio and the Lake Effect! ROFL

Happy Thanksgiving. I guess I'll go and eat my tofu taco now. It looked like you guys had fun making the dinner and video. Thanks for sharing a day in your life with us.
I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, but would there be a way to use electrochromic glass as a kind of dimmer switch to regulate the temperature of the beam? I could see it maybe blocking too much UV right at the start. Maybe it'd have to be a custom thing. Maybe it already exists? Anyone?
You need to get a smaller kitchen. Can you pipe all of that solar energy into your house w a big optic fiber? Put a sun tracker on your death ray dishes and concentrate them all to one optic fiber.

@GREENPOWERSCIENCE RE: The bra video. Honestly, your wife should consider doing a channel of her own. She's an amazing woman. I'm sure she could crush your subscriber count in no time :)
its so hard to concentrate on the green science when you put your wife in the vids. no disrespect buts it like trying to learn from that smoking hot teacher in school. She's way better looking than most my friends in their mid twenties. If i could grow up again i wanna be like you Dan

Dan you still have that huge oven you built from freezer doors? I was thinking of taking that and cooking a sack of taters and bread each day you can and selling the taters $1 each call them solar baked taters. You can sell them to passing motorists that are wanting to eat a baked tater? You could have an outdoor tater store? Something tells me the health department would have a cow doing things this way but hey You get a HL group to scrub the taters then sell them.
Kind of quiet today not jets or motorcycle gangs? I just ate a tater I baked in the MWO use a new green scrub pad scour the exterior of your tater get a fork poke it all around toss in the MWO 7 min or so then wrap with foil after taken out of MWO. Add cheese butter bacon bits sourcream broccoli and you got a yummy meal. If you want you can add chicken strips etc if you scrub well enough you can eat the skin taste great.
Totally ecological I loved guys and buy the way where I can buy a mirror like you have thanks !
