  • He was traveling at 28 mph when it hit the water

  • Can anyone tell me at what speed did he touch down? Just an estimate... btw, I think the plane that landed on the ocean was going way faster :(

  • Comment removed

  • HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE THIS REALLY SICK PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!!!

  • So big deal. He landed on water, big deal, any glider pilot like he, could have landed it safely.

  • @tweeetme That sir is a joke. An airliner does not like water, and even if you fly gliders, your chances of correctly landing an airliner on a water surface without breaking the airplane apart are VERY low. This is an experienced pilot who made all the right decisions and who had some luck on his side.

  • Five days later, we should have inaugurated Sully instead of Obama.

  • Hows that for fat lazy american...

  • FSX!!!

  • one major factor in my opinion was the fact the water was incredibly cold and therefore very dense creating a hard cushion, warm water is lighter and the bouyoncy is reduced much much more versus cold water, nevertheless a remarkable feat.

  • I know this most likely would never happen but after what Sully did to save all those lives, Congress should've given him the purple heart. Even though its a military award, Sully clearly earned it that day.

  • @UMassColt73 Some congressional award would be fine, but a Purple Heart? That's for being injured in combat, doesn't seem applicable at all given neither injury nor combat was involved.

  • @UMassColt73 a purple heart is for people who were injured or killed

  • Sully is my HERO!

  • O my god its Eric moody respect for him to to saving his 747 with no engines to start them again and land ( British airways flight 9 )

  • Silly birds

  • Why they have to stop at the ending of the plane landing on the sea???

Imagine the plane will flip over....

"Anyway that pilot is one magnificent glide lander :) "

  • sully is my role model.

  • Landing on a river is a LOT different than landing in the ocean with waves. And Sullenberger was really really lucky. Good pilot, good decisions, but after the bird strikes all the luck went his way. And I think he knows it.

Hitting the birds a little sooner, not clearing the bridge, finding a boat in the Hudson in the way ...

  • @batko78 Shut up you uneducated piece of shit. Go back to 4th grade and learn some grammar. Look how dumb you make yourself look. Seriously though, 4th grade is a great choice for you!

  • @batko78 HAHA! No wonder why you're so dumb! Stupid Jew chink fag. You should be proud of NOTHING.

  • Weak shit.

  • i nkow they whaere nazi birds u nkow birds are evil tht why hitler tale them to kill tht plane but hitler failes the bairds was nazis obviouse tht was the tru story

  • @FEFO806 hahahahahahaah ur so funny u should do stand up

  • hes a robot

  • dumb birds where iis this video from

  • I've done this flight of FSX about 20 times! All good landings. People need to learn that aircraft don't rely on the engines to maintain flight. Niether do helicopters, Helicopters cand land safely without the engine. Its called autorotation.

  • @Helicopterpilot16 blatantly not entirly true otherwise aircraft wouldnt have engines but ya.

  • @youretard90 I miss used the words (Maintain Flight) I mean't to say that planes do not rely on engines to glide.

  • What happened to the British? They all sound like panel members on American Idol now. Never get their facts straight, sound like fags, byebye smart and tough bulldogs, hello fairies.

  • Bloody birds! Hitchcock knew what they were up to. He tried to warn us...

  • the biggest heros of this are the designers and engineers at airbus responsible for the A320

  • @topski100 How true sully is a skilled pilot but the flyby wire systems on the A320 saved him alot of work and eased his situation, the engines were still delivering enough power to keep flight controls ,hydraulic and stability systems operating ,not truly a dead stick landing but a hell of a good job none the less !

  • @loshasguy they where lucky in the sense that the left engine still provided some thrust, however the key decision that saved all their lives was to go for a landing in the river... (isn't a ditching classed as a water landing at sea more than one mile from shore?)

  • @topski100 Yes , but any less of a Pilot and who knows what the outcome would have been. Thank God for Capt Sullenberger.

  • @cln1921 absolutley, there are several cases where ineptitdue has meant even the flight assists' havn't been enough. no doubt the passengers where lucky to have sullenberger and skully flying that day..

  • gog job

  • gog job

  • @ashermamen234 Correcto!! Its Flight Simulator X with the WIlco publish volume1 add on

  • @microman780 how do you make the engine fire up?

  • @microman780 How do you get the US AIRWAYS plane into FSX?

  • @mrhornetsfan do u want the plane free? witch FSX u got? 2004? or just FSX?.

  • @TheBlue117 Just FSX. Can you download the plane?

  • @microman780 How do you do this? I have FSX and would love to see some famous crashes recreated first-hand.

  • @elenapalmour07 lmao

  • 1:56 :*( I'm about to flight with us airways.... and this is scary :*(

  • @nenaboricua31681 How was it?

  • didnt see much cockpit view

  • he did a really good job.

  • @ModernWarefare2pro

    Nope it was rw, en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Ethiopian_Airlines_Flight_961

  • That video at 1:50 was fake i thought????

  • The cockpit view was from the game called "Microsoft flight simulator x". When you crash, the game just pauses and on the top of the screen, it says "CRASH!" or "SPLASH!" It doesnt simulate crash situations..... I think later versions of the game does.

  • Eric Moody is so great

Sully and Eric are the best

  • FSX :D

  • Flight Simulator X :)

  • im gay

  • @nethangh4 your nuts Not Gay !!!

  • Please don't panic tomorrow, be safe. Sulley is the man, keep the birds in the air and chilled. Love you guys.

  • Is that the Wilco Airbus Series 1?

  • HE SHOULD OF WENT TO NEWARK AIRPORT

  • @usair97 hmm he couldnt coz he had no speed or hight to keep it up lol

  • @usair97 what do you mean he should of??? he landed that plane safely.. Who knows what would of happened if he attempted to land on a runaway.. his quick thinking and skill saved everyones life.

  • @irishparadisexxx have you hurd the video they first off wanted him to land on a runway and in the begging of the videp its said a plane landed safely on a runway after a bird strike

  • God was holding the plane, thats how it didnt sink right away :)

  • Yes you can pratice on a simulator what the hell you talkin about? lol.

  • is this fsx?

  • @DROLL30 sure looks like it.

  • @DROLL30 yh

  • sully is such a bad ass. gotta love him!

  • FSX =D

  • i hate to fly but if i ever have to Sully will be my pilot :)

  • @ShortFade7 he's retired.

  • Bloody birds

  • what flight sim is this

  • fsx

  • Sully is the best pilot who saved many peoples life...

  • `*sigh*...theres 2:26 minutes of my life ill never get back...

  • @thefsxandREALpilot and +20 seconds for writing this comment :)

  • @henryadodo lmao true, true

  • people made this so good

  • @roblox432 2009

  • Stupid sensation seeking media! Of course it did NOT almost collide like the radar showed! We live in a 3D (actually 4D, never mind) world where height also matters....

  • COCKPIT VIEW OF HUDSON RIVER FLIGHT | US Airways Airbus A320 Flight 1549 pilot's view

  • what year was that?

  • @roblox432 lol like 2009!

  • Flight simulator X with wilco airbus series 1

  • @Soulless795 yepp ;) but the CFM engines were the wrong colr

  • The thing people forget is that the plane was filled with fuel, Captain Sully didn't have time to dump it. So it was extremely dangerous.

  • Perilously close to colliding with another aircraft? Apparently these people think in two dimensions. That aircraft on the map was likely thousands of feet above.

  • unfair comparison to the hijacked Ethiopian airlines flight at the end of the clip.

  • wow, if sully flew like the guy in this video, no one would've survived. there was no flare at all

  • @mitgolden76 And your perfect?

  • @WEESTRAWZ I thought this was going to me some detailed reconstruction, and it was just FSX, and then they didn't even flare on landing.

  • jebo ti simulator mater

  • ha rhis is Flight Simulator X

  • cool wilco a320

  • "An advanced simulation programme". It's Flight Sim X!

  • @Sammyy46 xD

  • FSX 4 ever

  • The video and news report at no point acknowledges the fact that Cap Sully switched on the APU (something that is not mentioned in the emergency manuals) and this kept the Fly-By -Wire system going and also utilizing the maximum lift out of the wings at the lowest airspeed...Cap Sully (take no credit away from him) might have not been so lucky in a Boeing 737

  • lol at microsoft flight sim

  • This is wrong. Water landings are not entirely as dangerous as they say they are. The reason the ethiopian plane crash killed so many people was due to the way it hit the water. The left wing hit the water before the fuselage so it pulled tho plane more on to the side than the undercarriage. When a plane lands such as it did on the hudson, its much safer and much less likely for something to go wrong. Even with this in mind though, capt. sullenberger did an excellent job.

  • @johns0075 and other thing about Ethiopian is that many passengers inflated their life jackets inside the plane, when they were still in flight. When the hit the water and the fuselage started to sink, they float to the ceiling and couldn't go anywhere.

  • my father landed a dc3 with no engines running on a sanbar out side of memphis at night with 3/4vis and 800ft overcast with his cig in his mouth the hole time calmly with minimal damage and walked away from it unharmed......NTSB it...The Hudson...big deal..

  • @HollisCM

How many people were on board?

This was a commercial Airbus with over a hundred citizens, the chances of a safe water landing were slim, and above all, the pilot had to deal with failing engines.

  • Some angry cats taking care of engines. No more bird strikes.

  • Sully is what all pilots should amount to. Great man, great aviator.

  • captain sullenberger landed the plane safely. god was no factor. sorry if u cannot understand this concept.

  • it says in the bible that god does not act in the world

  • yeah and it says in the NY times that the end of the world is nigh

  • if this is your way of taking the credit from the pilot, and giving it to you, a christian, who worships a fake god, then shame on you.

  • God is a lie.

  • @PuffMac i wish your existence would be a lie.

  • @XxBillyGoatNinjaxX God lover?

  • Looks like FSX/FS2004/FS2002

  • @mulleolsen funny enough(:

  • im lucky that im not on that plane!!! but wen did all this happen...2009 wasnt it??

  • im glad everyone survied :)

  • So Jeff, do you believe God answers the prayers of those who believe?

  • Flight Simulator?

  • this demonstration was illogical, the pilot didn't even activate the flaps, the plane was too fast, the descent was too fast, the way he hit the water was wrong, the angle of attack of the real plane was much more higher, wich makes the plane to "survive" the landing and not being destroyed by the water... If he landed as the pilot on this simulation did, the plane would probably point the nose down into the water and kill everyone inside...

  • well, would it really be such a good idea to extend the flaps in such a case? I mean shure u want to be as slow as possible, but on the other hand the flaps could make the landing a bit rough, when they hit the water don't u think?

  • Yes, this could affect the way the plane would react at the moment it reached the water, but otherwise it would stall while trying to maintain an slow speed, the flaps increase the lift of the airplane, slows it and certainly helped the pilot to land in the Hudson. In real life the pilot lowered the flaps, it's on the airplane's black box. I don't think they would made without it...

  • I am not really sure because if you open the flaps for too long you will fall out of the sky

  • Respect for the Hero Sullenberger

  • look up george carlin god

  • God doesn't make these things happen, he will however step back and not interfere. He is not cruel or a trickster, but I am sure many will think so on Judgement Day. Live your life however you want to, but don't comment on things you don't know. The captain made an excellent landing.

  • RETARD!

  • @jashsak. That was not very nice....

  • @jashsak how is he a retard

  • you have some serious issues jashak.

my names masterthug on here i made the username before i even found truth in GOD

  • it didnt nearly miss another aircraft dude u dumby that was flight simulator X.

  • Wow, I didn't know that he nearly missed another plane!

  • they could of used a real simulator BUT no they used bill gates microsoft fsx! :) lol . nd i love FSX! :P loool

  • Omg I was in this plane and it was horrible but I surrvied Thanks god :)

  • @krazxyjay175 God bless you.

  • LIAR

  • a little bit of at 0:57. Sully flew it over the shore of New York for a short while then turned onto the hudson to land

  • Think I read last year that he was also well-experienced as a glider pilot!

  • I did that on X-Plane

  • Something that didn't get a lot of attention regarding this incident: Sullenberger was an old-school, "right stuff" pilot; flew as a teenager, Air Force Academy grad, Air Force fighter pilot, thousands of hours of experience. Most airline pilots used to fit this profile. Today, airlines hire people, train them in simulators and then planes, and give them pilot wings. That's adequate for routine flights. But when your plane is going down in the water, you want one of those old school guys.

  • Why can they use FSpassengers? Using that add on can ditch liao...

  • Great video!.

Time to take it 1 step farther..MULTIPLAYER!

  • FSX!!!

  • was the hijacked plane air france?

  • no it air ethiopia

  • that's a miracle o.O

  • thats not miracle...thats op pilot xDD

  • @GermanStel i would still say god saved them all

  • @MasterThug I agree. I think God told him what to do in his short time of need.

  • If you truly believed in a god, then why did god make the plane's engines cut out in the first place? Seems like a pretty cruel, trickster god to me.

  • ? i dont think you understand . God is suppose to be almighty he doesnt need you. but everyone of us need him. were nohting to him. if you understand religion its about afterlife.

its very complicated but if you read you will understand more.

  • So you believe in almighty god. Why is Your name Masterthug?

  • @MasterThug i would say God or any other made up being had anything to do with this...this was a trained scenario from years ago, it just so happened that this particular pilot was skilled enough to

    1) remember the training scenario.

    2) be able to land the plane at such a perfect angle that the wings did not hit the water, AND the fuselage did not brake.

Truly this was at first a bit of bad luck (birds) and then a fantastic display of skill and excellent training.

  • do you know if you put science and math together and get the odds of him actually doing it people already say its impossible that he did it.

reason i bleleive there is almighty god is becase i was given this body somehow with life and all. but not even one scientists or groupe of scientists been able to CREATE a peice of skin tissue with the complexity of humans themselves.

  • well i'm not argue against the beliefs of anyone...i think religion is a very personal thing meant for each on his/her own to come to terms with it...i'm just speaking my mind :)

  • lol...yes scientists can...?

why did god not help the plane that crashed in Ethiopia? does he hate Ethiopia?

  • i think they used microsoft flight simulator for the simulation

  • mm, no, this simulaitor, calls, FLIGHT GEAR, FLIGHT SIMULAITOR IS BETER =D

  • unbelievable still to see this, the training pilots go thru just to make the aircraft fly this is amazing

  • i can't beleive they use fsx and the wilco airbus series volume 1

  • just out of curiousity, why does everyone who comments on videos use vulgar language and come across as being pissed off? Why? What point does it serve to comment on a video if all it serves is to get into a flame war or prove a point which holds no meaning in the real world. People must have some real insecurities that they need to mark people down for representing a point. I swear, more of these people come on youtube looking to feel 'big' and cant' get it any other way in their life. Sad.....

  • Eric moodys the guy who's four engines failed in a volacanic ash cloud over Jakarta?

  • THATS FSX!

  • that eric moody guy is from a aircrash investeragion tipe down FALLING FROM THE SKY AIRCRASH they landed it it was realy good

  • FSX

  • You should see the imitator with the sound from the real contact with radio, the pilots was all calm : o

  • OMG the guy who flyed the rubish Wilco Airbus 320IAE did not land the plane professionaly becouse he did not trim wile he was stil pulling the stik he could of made a owsome tail land and slowly put the aircratft on the water with great eye cordination looking at the speed and puting the plane down safely

  • They can't even get the flag correct. If they want to represent a crash on an airplane, they should at least get that right. Think im joking? Watch the very first appearence of the plane from the left hand side! Then see it from later on in the video from the same side! Poor FSX texturing skills. Some people dont care about simuation accuracy either. "just missed the bridge" HA! like that was represented from 3000 ft up in the air... This wasn't thought out well at all! Go back to Movie Maker!!!

  • like you could do any better or even know how to do any of the such dumb ass!

  • yea, like it's that hard to make a movie. If the queers in LA can make a movie than anyone can. FSX is even easier.
