  • I know a lot of Angolans are entering the middle class each month but these reports on Angola focuses ONLY on the the people who have not made it yet. Very typicle and from the report you get the impressions the Chinese own everything they build. They don't own anything they are just contracted to do the construction work.

  • china wants to help economic growth in Angola with open hand......because china used to be poor too...they know how it was....unlike the western countries who wants to help Angola with lots of requirement....

    Go China!!!!

  • The biggest reason why these construction projects are done by Chinese companies with Chinese workers is mainly to ensure good quality of construction. Many of you might not know, but in corrupt countries, the construction companies, whether public or private have a practice of cutting corners (and paying the officials to get the contract as quid pro quo). That Angola, despite being a highly corrupt country can have nice hospitals, roads, railways and ports is a testament to China's involvement.

  • @RonnieNolanRaharjo Exactly! Labor in Angola is far cheaper than in China. Its not the cost that is driving them to use chinese workers.

  • @RonnieNolanRaharjo

You're wrong, the reason why most of the workers are chinese is because of a lack of experience construction workers locally, the reason for this is because the country has been in a civil war for 30 years. No construction was done during those years. As more construction is done more Angolans are gaining experience in construction as a reult in 2012 you see a MAJORITY of Angolans on these construction sites. China wanted to do business while others refused.

  • @wilsalvn Isn't that what I said? Dude, please re-read my comment.

  • @RonnieNolanRaharjo

The chinese are temp workers ONLY once a project is done they leave. Every major city in the world outside of china has a small chinese minority why would Luanda be different? The next major counstruction project will be a million homes. A South African counstruction company will be leading that construction project. In the beginning only China wanted to do business, that's why most of the Construction companies are Chinese but that's changing after seeing their success

  • I love the beautiful reporter

  • @dfg93353 I do not agree, Europe raped Africa, contined Slavery and murder against its people, AND only recognized European languages as the "official" languages of its people. But China is different, they are actually bringing development in exchange for resources in and equal exchange. Europe was too blinded by deep racism to help Africa.

  • @Zirious23

    True that man.

  • This report was done in 2009, a lot has happened in the last 2 years there. So much is being done in such a short period of time. There was a another major oil discovery in that country very recently, it's going to rank up there with Saudi Arabia with oil output at this rate. The US needs to start doing more business there. It should be american workers over there rebuilding the country Americans construction companies would employ a lot more locals.

  • Lol 15:15 all Chinese look alike.

  • @brkillas Good Observation

  • Maybe they will turn That country into something ...black people don't really know how to be productive like chinese people

  • The Renaissance of The Middle Kingdom!

  • having chinese immigrants that come and build the economy is alot better then having illegal immigrants coming from 3rd world countries and deteriorating it e.g look at greece, italy, spain

  • This poor quality house will collapse in matter of 1-5 year after they build it..huhuh,Chinese food? Thats sound dead penalty to me,How cant some one eat Chinese products that is made in china..I say crazy

  • Salute to the Chinese workers who left their family behind to build Africa!

  • Great Job Mariana, Parabens e por favor continua!

  • What Africa need is strong leaders that will stand up for its people and free thier country from debt.

  • @symetricbody

    Which going to be...... NEVER.

Thats like saying one Day the Gorillas and Chimpanzee will build their own 1st world country with a strong Moneky Leader blah blah blah

  • China: Sof power approach. USA/ Europe: Hard power approach.

    China: Cooperation. USA/ Europe: Exploitation.

China: War of economies. USA/ Europe: Economies of war.

  • @what7777 that want meant to be a swipe, it was a highlight. But I wanted to say that the Angolans can benefit more. If they where trained in building their own infrastructure rather than just having the chinese give the country money and turning around to pay the chinese with that money

  • @Xniced True. But how practical is that? It'd be extremely costly to spend the time trying to train all those inexperienced Angolan workers and you'd likely get shoddier work as a result. Might as well get the best value out of your money right? I do believe a certain small # of Angola workers should be trained to pass on the skills though, which I believe is happening in most industries.

  • @seyiajala23 Which is why African quality of life (measured by HDI) is growing faster than ever since they started their trade partnership with the Chinese. Many middle eastern countries have done the same thing. You use your resources to create an infrastructure that can support services/manufacturing sectors.

  • And as for as u idiots crying they should help themselves, america wouldn't have freed itself from britain without the french giving them money, weapons and soldiers to fight the revolution. That part of history always seems to get lost

  • There are two things wrong with this picture. On one hand the country is asking for money, but the ppl working and getting paid are the foreigners, and second the work being done is so the chinese can benefit from the natural resources of the land. Other than building a hospital and some schools, nothing is really being done for the African country. Hopefully the African people can use this as a way to build their infrastructure and become self reliant

  • @Xniced Are you stupid? "A hospital and some schools" is a BIG deal for African countries. A surgeon on my grand rounds who went to volunteer in Kenya noted that these Chinese hospitals have saved countless lives. Not only that, the schools are foundation for progress in Africa. And they're building infrastructure as well (roads, rail, powerlines, etc), and there's plenty of african workers working in Chinese businesses.

  • Once again, the west is jealous of china doing it homework...maybe if they stop starting wars, their economy won't be in trouble. China is worried about it population that is why they are doing everything to get their economy moving...Like many western countries do, they blame other countries for their problem...Maybe they should stop investing only on war equipment and start investing in human capital. China is doing exactly what the USA did years ago. They are investing..so stop complaining.

  • sooner or later the USA and NATO will find a way to get China out of Africa cause the troop withdraw from Afghanistan....well those soldiers will be ready for a war in Iran and Africa

  • @ilovewerewolf China brings funds to Africa while you hope for an military invasion do you even notice what is wrong with what you are saying? Are you serious? Sad thing is you view reflects on most Americans.

  • @symetricbody im not hoping for that to happen....the USA and NATO ran out China workers out of Libya and just saying what will most likely happen next!

  • There only building the roads, airports and railroads to take out the countries resources. Yes they do compensate the country but that money they use to compensate is nothing but mere chump change to what they will be making in the long run!

  • @azubike You hit the points..Bravo

  • i totally agree!

  • That first Angolean official guy, I want his suit :)

  • 24:04 I want that song.

  • Comment removed

  • "......others see reason for concern" ???? what fucking concern??? it's ok for white to dominate the world but it's not ok for tye non-white to do that?

  • @gradeez Actually, some Angolans are concerned that the Chinese will have work for the Chinese workers, take all the natural resources, and leave the natives in their poverty. I don't believe that will happen. Chinese presence will stimulate African nations.

  • I hope that this will finally lead to Africa having world class cities.

  • @CesarManiaX It won't.

  • China is as corrupt as America different people same business and y is Africa trying to get other countries to develop it help yourself for once

  • @iizdashit umm last time i checked africa was raped by the colonial powers of their resources. ARE U going to give africa money to build their hospitals, school and cities?!....no so GTFO

  • @blackjin21 hello asshole that misinterprited my comment im talking about africa helping itself last time i checked america cant help it either and to be honest it should stop putting its jobs in the hands of other countries while people here need the help soooo next time you write something read carefully before you write africa needs to help itself if you want something YOU work your hardest to get it not just expect someone to do it for you thats lazy so how about you GTFO

  • @iizdashit and help themselves how ? with what money with what infrastructure

if u broke my legs i would need help to learn how to walk again right

thats africa now there legs have been BROKEN WITH A METAL BAT they need someone to teach them how to walk

so once again gtfo with that bull

  • @blackjin21 agree with 100% europeans fkd africa hundreds of yrs ago..now china is doin positive things in africa in exchange for the minerals..fair game other ppl hating cause they dont give a fuck or scared to get killed by africans.thats y no other country ever try to help to rebuil africa!!!

  • @iizdashit Refer to HISTORY on your second question you dipshit. Keywords: Colonialism, Imperialism, Slavery, War.

  • @XSilvenX first of grow up and stop using profantiy in every single message i understand ur passionate about this so let tell my view on this giving this part of the country forign aid and building things without involving its people is not wise at all yes they need help but by building its buissness and exploting the countrys resources isnt going to get anyone anywhere thats why we should help this country people with education not abusurd amounts of money that are only ment for

  • @XSilvenX immediate use we should help this country get on its feet but at the same time in my opion you also have to worry about your own country are you american if so you know exactly what the state of our own economy is right now and how theres a huge gap between the haves and the have nots if you arnt american i suggest you look into countrys such as america spain and italy to see how the smallest things can impact an economy in a big way and please no profanity from now on

  • @iizdashit Sorry for the profanity, I actually agree. Education is the most important tool for any poor country. It makes no sense to build institutions if the people there aren't smart enough to democratically decide how they should use it but that's what the schools are for.

Secondly, I'm in America and I'm well aware of the downward spiral we're in. There are many contributing factors, one of which is our rogue government.

  • Once again Africa is letting other country's use there resources why not just establish peace and a good government what that dont realize is that they have so much resources and land that if they were more organised and Advanced they could be a major super power .

  • This is bullshit. The Chinese corporations and the African politicians want to make this invasion palatable. Oh yeah, toss them a few railroads, schools, roads and lets be their over lords! We have the politicians in our pocket! As long as the natural resources are abundant, we will be there after that, we'll split. Just wait for the next Vanguard: Chinese ghost town in Africa. smh. Let the people triumph for once!

  • @bradleysmith11 in other words their doing what the Europeans did.

  • I'd tap her

  • China really needs to be commended for building all of this infrastructure. The Germans built Norway a lot of infrastructure during the second world war. Powerplants, motor highways, ports, damns, production facilities and even gas extraction to secure Norway's resourses. Even though Norwegians were poor like these Angolans at the end of the second world war(also thank US marshall plan), we are now rated 4 times #1 nation by the UN. Thanks to China, who knows where Angola will be in 50 years.

  • @killerbee2k theres always two sides to a rich man's coin. You do realize that China is depleting Angola of it's own resources? When those resources are gone and the money runs out China will leave them high and dry. No matter how communist they claim to be, they are still every bit as capitalist as America. Yes, they are buildings hospitals, schools, etc. but just like in China only the rich will be able to afford them. At least they don't have war though, that is good to say the least.

  • @cowdust51 I'm pretty sure everyone can afford to fucking use roads in the country, and you're full of shit on the hospitals. A volunteer surgeon came back to a hospital I worked at and he noted that the Chinese hospitals were helping all sorts of people and were far more state of the art than the Kenyan ones.

  • @what77777 You ever hear of a road toll? And of course a third world country would not have state of the art medical facilities without help from a stronger global world power. And the majority of indigenous native Chinese have limited or no access at all to even the most basic medical care, especially in central china where the provinces are poorest. Nonetheless exploitation is what it is no matter what it's called.

  • @cowdust51 What does medical care in China have to do with the improved access to medical care in Africa because of China? Get real. And the vast majority of roads being built do not have road tolls being built right now. Find me proof that they do because I haven't seen it. As I said, read The Dragon's Gift and maybe you wouldn't be so ignorant.

  • @what77777 Seriously, do you even take the time to read your comments? Nowhere do you even mention The Dragon's Gift. Talk about ignorant.

  • @cowdust51 Oops was in another video. That has nothing to be with being ignorant though, just a little tired,, which can be fixed by sleep. Your ignorance can be fixed by a lot of reading though ;)

  • @what77777 You're not tired, just absentminded. And an absent mind is a waste. ;)

  • @cowdust51 Considering you don't even use the word ignorance properly, I'd question your use of the term absentminded. And again, go read the book. That way you wouldn't look like such an idiot when speaking about topics like this.

  • @what77777 Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

  • @cowdust51 Why do morons veer off topic when they know they're wrong?

  • @what77777 The fact that you responded to a question with another question clearly indicates you have nothing of value to say. And to resort to using words like idiot or moron only reflects your own insecurities. Good luck with that.

  • @killerbee2k yea but dont you think by using chinese laborers instead of the local population it will breed resentment and wont stimulate the local economies

  • @kingzula The locals dont work as hard or as fast as the chinese.

  • @kmcl11 thats ridiculous it because the chinese want to keep the money and expand their economy. the chinese have a good opportunity here as they become the next super power. will they be true partners with the africans?? or will they be exploiters like the west??

  • @kingzula It is an exchange.

  • @kmcl11 it has to be a fair exchange

  • what do i have to fear i dont live in dirty Africa

  • @cupcakeshay17 Fool......

  • @TokyoMadness4393 how am i a fool

  • @cupcakeshay17 what do I have to fear I dont live in dirty Africa ....what that have to do with anything???

  • They will rape Africa of her resources just like the colonials did

  • Africans are so dumb they are letting them come in and take over everything instead of china making all the money africa should

  • I thought they were singing the thame song for crouching tiger hidden dragon.

  • I'm so proud of my nation. Clearly the positives out way the negatives here!

  • haha. they all look a like.!! 15:15 wtf racist black people:D

  • 9:25好标准的chinglish,让我想起了我的初中:)

  • @aetheriality:

it's portuguese. cos angola got colonialised first by the portuguese, before they left and civil war broke out...

  • Seriously? Why are people complaining about the Chinese are doing? Right now, France and Britain and U.S. are cashing in on Libya while China is building a whole new Angola with hospitals, schools, and rail ways and much more. Sure, not everything is going to be perfect but they went from a 30 year civil war to where they are at now. People just can never look on the bright side of things I tell you.

  • There's no such thing as corruption-less economic development. It's only when countries get rich that they have the luxury of holding certain values above practical concerns. It's pathetic that the West has forgotten the history and record of its own past development. All the corruption, blood, and pollution that they had to go through to get where they are today.

  • 1:25 lulwut?

  • what language was she speaking to the shang hai restaurant owner? dutch?

  • @aetheriality

It's not Dutch at all (I speak it), it sounds more like russian.

  • @dynd @aetheriality It's Portuguese (restaurante chinês = chinese restaurant, cidade = city). Portuguese is the official language of Angola.

  • Thank you china for helping afr

  • "They all look alike" Hahaha XD

  • Angola has to be one of the cooolest countries in Africa; they speak Portuguese!

  • jaja africans sound so cute when speaking portuguese

  • hahaha 15:07 is hilarious :D :D

  • Imperialism... this is all great powers' favorite sport

  • I said this 5 years ago, and I'll say it again. Some day, China is going to take over the world lmao

  • The West has had the chance for centuries and they left dictators, ruins and poverty in Africa. Now it's the turn of China. There is no better way to lift out of poverty than trade. 'Aid for Trade'. It doesn't matter which collor the cat has (white, yellow or black) , if it catches mice it is a good cat.

  • The West have had the chance for centuries and they left dictators, ruins and poverty in Africa. Now it's the turn of China. There is no better way to lift out of poverty than trade. • The Chinese are racist and don't mean well. They are raping Africa.

  • @imhotep1 if anyone was "raping" africa, it was the europeans(example the british empire and also, other colonial powers). last, i remember, the europeans weren't exactly compensating the africans for their resources and labor. China, on the other hand, is compensating(not just monetarily, but building schools, hospitals, and improving infrastructure(builiding roads), for the african countries that they trade with. now, tell me, who is raping who? LOL.

  • @heomak you cant compare colonial European powers with modern day China... they're operating in totally different time frames with two totally different societies/world views...

  • @heomak find one African country where Europeans didn't build schools for local Africans. There isn't any.

  • they all look the same, HAHAHAAAAA

  • the dancing at the end was cool

  • I can't believe the analysis coming from that African women. Road, for instance, will politicians be the only ones driving on it? If China don't care about corruption, human right, etc., then why the westerners have not stop it after centuries of total control of Africa? Do you know why? It's because they are the very people who created, maintain, and feed this chaotic situation in Africa in order to ensure the the continuity of over exploitation of Africa's natural resources. So go read books.

  • Interesting story, I REALLY hope this doesn't end badly...

  • Everyone wants a piece of the African market. Tons of natural resources to exploit, makes it the hot spot today, as well as afganistan & Bolivia for their lithium. China has the best chance to be a world power in this century. The US will only be able to hold on through proxy wars, for a time.

  • At most china wasn't STUPID about being in Africa, like the west was back when they were eager to take it over. Go China! :D

  • 5 years of Chinese involvement totally trumps centuries of Western enslavement and exploitation.

  • 15:29 is hilarious. she did not know who the guy was.............LOL

  • @VVIIDDEEOO2006 yea funny lol but kinda fucked up too

  • what .. china isn't trying to take over the world or anything.. -o-

i mean africa doesnt need all thsoe resources anyways, what they need is technology, developement, BASIC NEEDS!

  • 12:06 to skip ad.

  • I cant believe they are whining about to being able to do anything.. They haven't done anything in centuries!!

  • the world is all about screwing people over and china is doing it in a big way

  • im chinese by race and british by nationality and the chinese people in this video are weird!!

  • i heard about Chinese diaspora in Africa but i never knew about specific reasons until now.this is cool

  • Comment removed

  • China is moving forward and so is Africa... win win. the west only likes to talk about how bad Africa is... China goes in and build roads and railways ports, things thats one needs to have a functioning country... and thats the turth.

  • the angolon village girl obviously wasn't "DATING" a chinese guy..more like having a ONE NIGHT STAND with a chinese guy, that's why the girl can't pick him out from a line of a few chinese workers. when you date someone, you obviously know how they look, their mannerisms, and what not...serve's her right for giving it up so easily.

  • africa has its own way to go and stand on his legs, chinese dont care (dont interfere)

their political business. a very different point from west, who like to sell its political model during investment. only when those poor people have enough infrastructure and educated young people, its turn to change their political structure. by the time the young people will say which way is better, west tricky unmoral bla bla or chinese practising slow but effective method!

  • interesting topic, as a chinese i cant find out what is bad when chinese worker in africa. r u sure that those angola natives understand the builging technology?they will but when they graduate from china and will back to their hometown. in a place without road to talk about hospital and school, r u kidding me? anyway though the natives express somehow the unhappy feeling, i will be more sure that its reallly better than we sell ak47 to them.

  • @yingyu0502 i totally agree, unlike other places *cough USA* china building hospitals in angola and making a profit is far better than them selling weapons to the angolans.

  • @lcedawg Just so they can raid their natural resources you idiot, what kind of weapons do you see carried in Africa, unless you are fucking retarded you can clearly see 99% of the weapons in Africa are communist Chinese and Soviet weapons.

  • @lcedawg

I dont mean to burst your bubble, but the USA does not sell many weapons in Africa. That has more to do with what the African nations can afford, rather than US benevolence. Meanwhile, China sells boatloads of cheap weapons (including land mines) to African countries. Next time you see photos of African soldiers, guerillas etc, their AK 47s have a good chance of being made in China.

  • @lcedawg i'll have to burst your bubble dude...china is known for selling weapons to many countries and outfits around the world.

  • If unemployment in Angola hasn't decreased.. If Angolans are treated second class to Chinese in their own country, I fail to understand what the point is.. what economic development is the Angolan govt boasting off.. If my govt did that to me, I'd be mad pissed.. this is another disaster waiting to happen..

  • By the way, this report is great, it is not bias, it show both side of the coins. Thumbs up

  • The Chinese policy is not a "No string Policy". Its just its 'non of my fucking business" policy. The Angolian can do what they want with the money they got, they can drink it down, buy new home, build hospital, hire whore, its their call. Chinese are not the police of the world, if the local policy leader is corrupted don't blame it on China. These African all speak Portuguese they were ruled by white for years, and yet after all these years they were in SHIT hole, no hospital?

  • 真理解不了,那个黑哥们儿明知道中国人不懂葡萄牙语还一劲儿嘚吧,显得中国人木了吧唧的,任何一个正常的中国人都不会跟外国人理直气壮的大声用汉语问话

  • well ............china is smart.Western countries were paiyng just 5% of the real cost and they were just destroing everything.

  • I can see Chinese are doing the real job, but the westerners are only complaining.

  • why people call that invasion? and why is that guilty to buy natural resource? it's just a trade.

and i like the part "they all look the same". haha...

  • @stb6688 I am agree with you. This is business, just trade.

  • song at the end is pretty bad ass what is it called

  • ching chong prease

  • @swedishorient rucka rucka ali ftw

  • E viva la CHINA!

  • VIVA CHINA

  • wow

  • hey lets nt forget ths fact, china has been trading wth africa since the 400s ADs

  • Comment removed

  • LOL the man in 12:60 is wearing a pink shirt with a yellow suit and orange tie...LOL many bright colors can he over lap.

  • am moving to china lol screw us is DEAD

  • @raulvaz82 hav fun having no internet

  • If you believe China is doing any of this to improve the lives of Angola's people, you are completely detached from reality. They are there for one thing -resources. It's clear that China is paying off corrupt governments to funnel out trillions of dollars worth of materials, and for far less than their true value.

The West has refused to loan money to such corrupt countries, no matter how much we stand to gain from such transactions.

  • @c0unterph0bia its not like china taking angola's resources for free..they're doing investment on dat country wat can u ask more?everything is built by china so its benefit for both side..hospitals,railways,roads,everything they ever wish for

  • @chaichai2580 Right, just like the West didn't take Africa's resources for free in the 18th and 19th centuries.. we did all kinds of investment on that country. Westerners built shipping ports, plantations, railways, roads. You see, we paid for those slaves, that is so fair, we did so much to help them develop, what more could you ask for? Ha, give me a break... Yes, China is doing some good in Africa, but be careful not to sugar coat it...

  • @c0unterph0bia You paid for those slaves? You wonder why many Blacks hate the West.Your done in Africa get over it.

  • @makkool You must be responding to the wrong person, I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @c0unterph0bia YOU are cut off from reality. the only thing western countries do is demanding sanctions, the chinese are building hospitals and alot more. what do you think will help the people more in the long run. sanctions or improvement of infrastructure. and ofcourse the chinese should have something for it. the chinese are doing more than the west ever would.

  • @illuminaz1 What?! The UN Security Council sanctioned weapons trade to help end Angola's 30 year civil war? HOW DARE THEY! If only the west hadn't adopted sanctions, the Angolans could have conducted mass weapons trade and used them to improve their infrastructure! The evil evil West, how dare they sanction weapons trade and blood diamonds until peace treaties are signed. Meanwhile, the UN provided free food aid for displaced people in Angola, disgraceful, disgusting, up-hauling!

  • @c0unterph0bia True , u can ask SHELL, TEXACO ,M.BENZ ,BP .... about ther clean work around the globe.what about all the stolen money from oil revenues(specially arabs) in western banks, money laundering and arming dectators.or was it china?

    VIVA CHINA

  • @BayKingston What's your point? If Western companies are wrong, then China must be right? Your logic is flawed... perhaps you are unaware that both can be wrong.

  • @c0unterph0bia There is no LOGICS in politics. At least China doesn't claim to be the best modern democratic system while i think its just a facade for the west to hide the real business.no points

  • @BayKingston I agree! Both the China's government and US companies will justify their actions, because they are conducting fair trade with recognized sovereign states. The only point I am trying to get across is that China's government and western companies don't care about Angola. I don't understand why everyone is trying to put China on a pedestal here. If some big oil company did this, would there be all these nice comments here about how amazing and glorious big oil companies are? NO!

  • @c0unterph0bia The only reason China's being put on a pedestal is because the West never gave a rat's ass but put up a pretense.. China doesn't do that.. Nobody likes fakers

  • wtf, get rid of the damn ads youtube.

  • 5:14 shes cute and speaking such correct Portuguese like that just makes her hotter. Im in love :)

  • :( too bad the Angolans don't get the jobs. China is rebuilding the country, but I bet it gets to pick which party's in power

  • GOOOOOOOO China....... Dam, us American's really need to wake up! China is surpassing us and out witting us; at this rate, China will be the first world power soon then any westerner wet dreams ever imagine.

  • @LeonardoFIU tihs program is overall ran in a large part by al gore. he obviously realizes this, why has he never been president?

  • So Africa is a lot like the USA was back in the nineteenth century. Remember American history, it was Chinese workers/slaves who built many of our railroads, am I not correct? This is soooo interesting.
