I love how they said they knew their music was going to be hardcore and it cuts to this sweet little song they sing together in harmony -- it's funny, and yet, it's true - their sweet little songs are do have a really hardcore element to them. This underlined darkness and fearlessness. That's why I love them. They are fearless... like a hummingbirds. Small and sweet, but hummingbirds are fearless you know.

@MadSpoon23 It's an interesting interpretation of what they said in the interview but for me that's not what they meant by hardcore. This cut probably has more to do with the video editor showing the juxtaposition of what they thought they would create together and what they actually ended up creating. When they say 'hardcore' I believe they really do mean hardcore music and don't consider Coco Rosie albums to be in the genre/category.

But I interpreted more than just that simple fact (because I do agree) and I take it further to say that Cocorosie are almost redefining what 'hardcore' IS; Or folk, or indie, or whatever the genre... because they THEMSELVES are hardcore. Their attitudes, their darkness, their fearlessness or expression. To me, that is pretty hardcore. But yeah, Oscar, I see what you are saying in that they meant the genre. I interpret it as more subconscious than that.

@oscarthefuzz I think SOME of it comes naturally, but part of being different comes from a distaste for the common. It becomes boring. It's often rather idiotic. There's something to be said for the pretension of it, but I think they're charming and thoughtful enough that I love them regardless... She's a woman. She grows hair. It should be more than obvious to anyone who listens to their music that they are very different, very special. She doesn't treat her body like a topiary, and I love her for it. I think I've actually fallen in love with every woman I've seen that has facial hair, leg hair, armpit hair, arm hair, (especially those with little to no hair on the one place where society prefers it to be long), who is aware of it, and embraces it. It's empowering and natural. Beautiful.
