  • He created Karl Pilkington. How can Ricky steal from something that he created?

  • i bet ricky performed this before he knew that karl's story would become part of the hit series on HBO. Busted

  • jesus kill my puppy too!!!

  • he stole the goat material from karl pilkington ????

  • Karl Pilkington is genius.

  • It shouldn't!

  • giving shit to africa is a complete waste

  • @Soundgarden8497 - so is every breath you take...

  • @fowzie777 go die you black african loving faggot

  • @Soundgarden8497 Soundgarden are shit.

  • @felix8989 Soundgarden is one band... so your use of 'are' is incorrect. Furthermore, your opinion is non hetero, hence irrelevant to me.

  • @Soundgarden8497 I was referring to them as a collective. But whatever, they sing fag music anyway.

  • @felix8989 that's funny considering none of them are gay, and every show i've been to i haven't noticed any fags there.

  • @Soundgarden8497 The singer has fag hair.

  • @felix8989 hahahha in which year?

  • @Soundgarden8497 You are a cunt. Hahahahaa... unlucky.

  • @Cryer24597 go have your 24,598th cry

  • Still, he should have tould it as a "Karl story" like he does in Politics and Animals.

  • I knew Jesus killed my puppy.

  • I'm a goat, and i find this extremely offensive...

  • @deathbyorder CORRECTION. I'm offensive, and i find this extremely goat...

  • She died of hyperphermia.. RESOLVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd

  • @allmanator13 He actually says "result".

  • in actuallity the african family is going: the goat eats up all the crop from the land...

  • And people say Ricky steals Karl's jokes...

I've never witnessed Karl telling a joke, he IS the joke.

  • Karl better be getting royalties.

  • Kudos to Karl haha,

  • it shudn't... lmao

  • fuck off

  • Karl's joke

  • heard this one before ricky mate, as much as i love you

  • @IXM360 Do you think comedians should write new material everytime they go on stage? Really?

  • Gervais doing his charity 'bit' for the umpteenth time, I see. Get this man a new script writer.

  • @kalifire yeah, unusual for a comedian to use the same material in different shows....

  • Smug little pug-nosed cunt.

  • Stealing more of Karls material.

  • @JohnPurchaseArt Yep, I think Karl said all of this on XFM

  • @lumpheadthump

He's used alot of Xfm material in his stand up shows.

  • @JohnPurchaseArt I don't see a problem with it. It's just as funny now

  • There is always the chance that Ricky wrote this for Karl as well....?

  • Awesome!

  • YOU CANT STEAL A JOKE!!!!!! no one owns a joke..you don't pay to have one

  • @TheJackinder Give it up, Carlos Mencia. You're not fooling anyone.

  • @Galacticavatar who am i trying to fool?

  • boring

  • @paginipro well why don't you stand up there a do a better job. oh wait, you can't because you are are pathetic.

  • @BDFPA I'm the best nigger,check out my site theoreticalphysics.webs.com

  • 'Jesus killed your puppy!'

    hahahhahahahhahahahahhahaha!!!

  • And here he only had five minutes. When he use this joke in his stand up he told all the story talking about Karl. In 5 minutes is imposible do all!

  • THIEF!

  • think it rather poor that he's using Karls lines...

  • @fagsshagskebabs pretty sure i heard that joke in his earlier stand up when he didnt know karl

  • @VitaminJyo it appears on Series 1 Episode 4 - 26 December 2005

  • @stompafly havent heard that in ages hahaha! classic

  • ricky...WTF!?

  • oh and as if Karl is a creation, if he was he's the greates comic character of all time and they'd be lapping up the plaudits for it.

  • exactly 'aidanja23' that's how comedians write their material...inspiration from things around them. Karl didn't write it as part of a stand up act and then Gervais stole it from him. Almost all comedy must comedy from scenarios like that

  • As if Karl cares. He's got three houses and just started a production company with Ricky.

  • Please Ricky, stick to what your good at, sitcom writing! Your stand-up work is a shambles and your films have been very average.

  • @luckystrike1 It might surprise you to find out that Gervais doesn't tailor his career to your tastes. If you are too stupid to realise that, it might explain why you don't like his other stuff.....

  • @paradoxDebaser Hey, It may surprise you to realise that Paris Hilton doesn't tailor her career to your tastes...oh wait, she's just awful in every respect. I'm a huge Ricky fan, but most intelligent people know that his stand-up comedy suits the lowest common denominator audiences. Check out the reviews he gets for his latest stand-up on Amazon, I'm clearly not the only Ricky fan that feels this way.

  • @luckystrike1

Yeah it's in an Amazon review, so it must be true. haha!!

Lowest common denominator audiences? You must jerk off in golden silk king size bed you pretentious prick. Sorry, don't mind the insult, it's just that you seem like an extremely huge asshole. I think maybe you just don't like laughing, life must be really miserable for you.

  • Ricky didn't steal Karl's '"joke". Karl said that stuff about a goat because he didn't understand how the charity worked. Karl said it as a serious comment, and Ricky used it as a anecdote for his stand-up because it was ridiculous way to think about it that way. That's how most comedians come up with their material.

  • @aidanja23 You are right. But people who are too stupid to realise this for themselves probably won't be able to understand the explanation.

  • @aidanja23 yep pretty much.

  • @aidanja23 Karl is still a funny guy - what he says is clearly supposed to be amusing (no matter how much he actually believes it) I'm sure Karl doesn't mind, but there are several times where Ricky has taken one of Karl's jokes and used it himself.

  • @aidanja23 who the hell do you think you are thinking about the situation and using logic!

  • Love Gervais, but the way he keeps recycling old material is starting to get horrendous. Hope "Life's Too Short" is going to be good.

  • I think Ricky is in good form here! I was laughing all along, although I've heard it all before. Who cares if he used Karls goat joke? This is for an audience where probably almost nobody has listened to the podcasts, so it's not like they've heard it before - RSK fans ofcourse have, but this is not the Overbooked Benefit for Ricky, Steve and Karl fans is it?

    So stop moaning innit.

  • Wow, stole the whole goat thing from Karl. Ridiculous.

  • Have people perhaps considered that "Karl" is a Gervais and Merchant creation and that just about everything Karl has ever said on camera was written by these two?

  • @Daz555Daz

true before karl was around he would always refer to "his friend" when doing his act

  • @Daz555Daz Can you imagine how long it would take them to do that? Karl is real.. just listen to the early xfm shows.

  • @Daz555Daz

Watch Karl Pilkington discussing gays on flipside tv..there's no way he's a creation.I had a Xfm music cd years ago with Karls name on the back as producer.

  • brilliant!

  • it just keeps gettin worse...

  • Im sure karl doesn't give a shit...

  • This is from his Science stand up tour.

  • You can tell this is in America. No one gets Ricky's subtle comedy. Only laughing when a concrete joke is put in front of them lol.

  • Karl wouldnt care anyway - he's done fine by Ricky (Karl now has 2 houses and a new boiler)

  • Who the fuck is karl?

Ricky is one of the most brilliant comedians and writers in the World.

    Bow before him, you ignorants.

  • @BrunoSantosOrg I love it that you call people ignorants, even though you freely admit you don't know who Karl Pilkington is. He's a really funny man. Check out his podcasts with Ricky Gervais.

  • lol "you roled over on it"

  • Who cares that he used a line from someone that he basically created, im thinking making Karl a millionaire more than makes up for it. Ricky Gervais is a genius and one of the worlds comedy greats

  • what lines did he steal from karl?

  • So what if he used a few lines from Pilkington? If it wasn't for Ricky, we'd have no idea that Karl even exists. Plus, why would Karl even care. He isn't a comedian as such.

  • @qloudz well said

  • what line is karls?

  • @sofiesanmeldelse The one with the goat not wanting to be in Africa :)

  • He used one line of Karls, the rest was all him, and I don't blame him, it's a good line.

  • you know someones losing weight when you suddenly notice there ears stick out

  • The thing with Ricky gervais being so transparent in his life, What with the podcasts the blog and so on, is that we can see when he steals lines, reuses old gags and uses karlisms. He actually steals from Karl a hell of a lot. And if I was Karl I would be demanding a writers fee. Ricky thinks that just because karl is not a comedian in the traditional sense, he can steal from him. Its out of order. Good thing karl is always fresh and always original.

  • @RickyPayneTV Karls just Karl

  • @feckingbillgates Oh really he does it again on the science tour? that`s saved me a few bucks then..I was gonna buy the DVD, not now, Geez why does he keep using the same old stuff, he said this on Letterman or Conan or probably both, I don`t know how he does it? I mean there is taking the money and running, but he is also taking us Americans for chumps, does he not realize that most Karl and Ricky fans will have listened to the Podcasts?

  • Comment removed

  • STOLEN FROM KARL!!!! :O

  • It's certainly not the first time he has stolen a joke from Karl (for example: talking about having to work on set in the morning: 'what are we farmers?'). He probably just thinks: it was said on the Ricky Gervais Show, so it's my joke.

Let's just be happy he didn't do it in a manc accent.

  • i remember ricky telling that joke about the dog shelter over 10 years ago on the 11 o clock show and on his recent science tour so god this man needs new material!!!!!!!!!!!!! seems abit lazy to me.

  • I wouldn't even care if he did what he usually did and sort of introduced it as Karl's drivel and said what an idiot Karl is.

But it's the fact he's acting like it's his thoughts, his jokes which is annoying.

  • I've been a big Gervais fan since the beginning but I'm with the people who are annoyed by him nicking from Karl.

He even uses it in the 'Science' tour so it's not like he's just using it for obscure little comedy gigs. I mean... Using Karl's entire routine (which he already said on Letterman six times) for your MAIN comedy tour. That's lazy.

It wouldn't exactly be hard to write five minutes material in its place. If it is, maybe he should go back to the drawing board.

  • As big a fan as I am of Ricky (and as much as this doesn't really change that), it does annoy me about him when he just uses Karl's genius material in his own stand-up, without crediting him.

  • Ricky's kind of evil! :o

  • You people are to serious, it's not like he's stealing from another comedian.

  • @purplenurps Karl and Ricky are not the same person...

  • @feckingbillgates Really? No shit sherlock

  • @purplenurps So then he is stealing from another comedian. Glad to have helped you think.

  • @feckingbillgates Karl isn't a comedian though and most likely because they're friends he asked if he could use it.

  • @purplenurps Most people, even if they have permission, would say "my mate Karl thinks this..." and given Karl the credit. In this clip Ricky is giving the impression that these are his views and words. It makes no difference whether Karl is officially a "comedian" - he is somebody who also makes money from his own ideas by doing TV, radio and writing books, and he might want to release his own ideas in books without people assuming that HE nicked them from Ricky.

  • @feckingbillgates Who says he didn't buy the joke from karl? Most comedians buy jokes from people or other comedians, it's not unheard of for a comedian to do that.

  • @purplenurps It says a lot that Ricky Gervais is so short on his own material now that he would need to use somebody else's jokes so shamelessly.

  • @feckingbillgates what about 2 and a half minutes of karls stuff, mixed with his own stuff from an hour and a half comedy special(i know this isn't from his tour but this comedy bit is) proves he lost it? Every top comedian gets people to write material for them, chris rock, richard pryor(when alive) and louis ck, got people to write for them.

  • @purplenurps I'm not very certain that he ever "had it"...

  • @purplenurps If Karl was being paid as a writer, and given a writer's credit, that would be fine, and everyone would see what was going on. If this isn't happening, all we have is a comedian nicking a friend's jokes and basically making a living from another person's better humour. There isn't normally a situation where somebody "buys" comic material and style from another comedian, and then has the right to pretend that persona is their own, so I don't know what you mean really.

  • @feckingbillgates All comedians buy jokes from other comedians, that argument is over. Ricky hasn't spent his whole comedy career stealing from karl a 3 and a half minute routine doesn't equal the whole set you fool.

  • @purplenurps I'll tell you when it's over, drivelhead.

  • I don't expect new material from Ricky - he is not a sole stand up comedian by trade, thats just one thing he does. He stole a line out of Karl's drivel - which is essentially content that only exists thanks to his and Stephens profound interest in the man. Get over it guys.

  • @AndysEdits Karl does not speak drivel......he is in essence's, the pinnacle of all thinking minds.

  • When Karl said it, it was much funnier.

  • I think gervais is a funny guy but like most of us who are watching this that are fans from podcasts ect will have started relaizing he does repeat himself in iterviews telling the same joke but nicking dilkingtons jokes ...come on.

Smerch should do stand up as well.

  • @TheHewhodareswins Smerch won't do standup anytime soon simply because he is much funnier naturally than Gervais.

Thats not knocking Ricky - look back to the extra's on the first Office DVD, he was trying to tell everyone back then he got so much material from Karl and how funny he was.

If anything the impressive thing is these 3 have made a fortune on essentially the same old stuff, which we all still love, and are clearly still mates who just have a bit more money than us! :)

  • @spinner72 Smerch does do stand-up, though.

  • What I find funny is that he got his biggest laughs with Karl's jokes.

But seriously, there shouldn't be arguments between Karl-Fans and Ricky-Fans. Can't we just enjoy the comedy and have a laugh?

  • Starvation is nature's way of telling you, you failed evolution.

  • Maybe u rolled over it! u are a sick uncle, man!

  • That was something Karl said but to be honest Rick and Steve did coax it out of him. Karl would still be toiling in the dark at XFM if they hadn't swept him up and sent him to the third world living in caves and eating bugs, squeezing and putting a bin lid on his head- so Rick is perfectly justified.

  • wow.. fucking really?? now its karl-fans against ricky-fans?? you know what, you all can fuck off, because the only way you could have even heard of karl pilkington was from watching ricky gervais in the first place. but you know what, you're right... im sure karl is livid right now because HE wanted to use that line for HIS stand-up comedy act! and being that ricky and karl were never friends, not only can he not have discussed this with karl, but theres no way they could have similar ideas!

  • @ladyjaneheath

    Your opinion,,

    I loved it.

  • @paulitas83 Not only that but the whole sending a goat to Africa bit was what him and Steve took the piss out of Karl for.

Formula for success in America: just repeat what you've already done in England but change it a bit.

  • @paulitas83 he made karl....

  • @paulitas83 I don't think it was a communal pint was it? :S

  • @spidermullen I don´t think my comment was serious. Was it?

  • @MsPaute ¬_¬

  • @spidermullen Like you´re not ofended. :)

  • @paulitas83 when did carl say this?

  • @rory12349 It´s in the podcasts (I change the channel, but I´m paulitas83). Also is in The Ricky Gervais Show. Episode when talks about Karl´s superpowers.

  • @paulitas83 RICKY iS A THEIF STEALS PEOPLES JOKES!!! OR HES SAYING THAT HE WRITES FOR KARL WHICH MEANS KARL ISNT AS STUPID AS HE IS THERE FOR I WILL NEVER BUT EITHERS DVD;s

  • @OriginalNex Fine! Now turn of caps lock, go away and take a nap. You'll feel better afterwards.

  • Ricky's comic timing is brilliant, and this is mostly his material anyway! He puts his own spin on things and delivers it in his own way, even if about ONE line of it was something Karl said. Get over it, its still brilliant.

  • Disposable pets LOL

  • why doesn't he write new material?

  • the thing is, he shouldn't have used this gag. anyone whos a fan of ricky would have been watching The Ricky Gervais Show on HBO, where this gag was taken out of the podcasts and animated. so alot of people have prob heard it already neway.

n 'not another mouth to feed'. thats karls line through and through..... kinda annoyin

  • he hasn't stole anything from Karl, these where conversations that took place between him Karl and Steve on the podcasts, most of, if not ALL comedians get some of their material from real life situations.

  • @Serbskii Yes but Ricky and Steve where defending the whole "Give a goat" concept. And Karl had the exact views that Ricky gives of as his own in this video. In the podcast, Ricky thought it was a good way of distributing wealth. I don't really mind but i think its funnier to rant about your genuine opinion

  • @jwktje Like I said, most comedians get their material from other people, Karl's reaction to the Goat Present was hilarious, Ricky realised it was funny, and that other people would find that angle on the subject funny, so he used it as part of he's stand up, to make people laugh, and it worked...so fair play to Ricky.

  • @freemanz89

erm Cemetery Junction? best British film for years..

But I do get annoyed when I see him use this gag, second time I have seen him do it now, It was much funnier when Karl did it,but I won`t condemn him for it, after all he and Steve introduced us to Karl and we should all be grateful for that.

At least he isn`t as bad as Jason Manford ,who tells the same shitty unfunny jokes over&over&over and is a millionaire for it, if I hear his pathetic joke about his favourite twin again..grrr

  • stealin from karl?? he made karl, im pritty sure karl wouldnt mind, there best mates ffs.

  • He took Karl's reaction and extrapolated it. Thats a comedian's job.

  • all comedians jokes come from funny things that have happend to him.

  • @theraka He already nicked a bit of Karl's film idea for Ghost Town. :P

But again, comedians often write material for other comedians and although the borrowed jokes Ricky uses are usually stuff said during podcasts, I'd still say he asks Steve and Karl first if he can use their jokes and ideas.

  • Is he really that short of material that he has to use something that Karl said years ago? And this isn`t the first time either, he also used it on a chat show, it`s not as funny as when Karl said(probably believing what he was saying) it..

He is a comedy genius the office etc but for gods sake he must have thick skin, surely he knows this is pathetic, all his real fans will have heard this before..

  • @squalidsquadie Yeah, but it's harmless isn't it? And Ricky tells it with a heavy dose of irony, which is obviously something lacking from anything Karl says.

  • I'm pretty sure he asked Karl first. The fat ordinance survey joke is Steve's and no one moaned. Again, I'd say he asked first.

  • Lol if you think he is ripping of carl then you are fools tbh, It is a joke he enjoyed and wanted to depict to the public . So many of you think he rips of carl all the time lol they have been friends for 15 years now :) .

  • @SuperAdrianWilliams 9 years mate

  • Ah I love Ricky but yeah this is stealing just a bit

  • Such a genius.

  • haha i would ave loved to see karl up there performing!

  • Brilliant joke though, i would nick it too.

  • stop stealing karls lines you fkn thief

  • @hamzeeco How about you relax those buttcheeks and let the stick fall out. It was a conversation, clearly set up by Ricky. Where is your stand-up act? Don't be a dick on the internet, dude.

  • Can't believe he's stealing from Karl, next he's gonna be making a movie with Clive Warren and Rebecca De Mornay

  • @theraka For fucks sake - its a charity event! It's not as if he's using this line to try and make money - just to make the event funny! He probably even okayed this with Karl! This is even mostly Gervais - its a performance where he applies a persona to his performance where he's annoyed about the charity goat gift card. Grow up!
