It makes no difference whether Karl is officially a "comedian" - he is somebody who also makes money from his own ideas by doing TV, radio and writing books, and he might want to release his own ideas in books without people assuming that HE nicked them from Ricky.

Every top comedian gets people to write material for them, chris rock, richard pryor(when alive) and louis ck, got people to write for them.

@purplenurps If Karl was being paid as a writer, and given a writer's credit, that would be fine, and everyone would see what was going on. If this isn't happening, all we have is a comedian nicking a friend's jokes and basically making a living from another person's better humour. There isn't normally a situation where somebody "buys" comic material and style from another comedian, and then has the right to pretend that persona is their own, so I don't know what you mean really.

I don't expect new material from Ricky - he is not a sole stand up comedian by trade, thats just one thing he does. He stole a line out of Karl's drivel - which is essentially content that only exists thanks to his and Stephens profound interest in the man. Get over it guys.

I think gervais is a funny guy but like most of us who are watching this that are fans from podcasts ect will have started relaizing he does repeat himself in iterviews telling the same joke but nicking dilkingtons jokes ...come on.

Thats not knocking Ricky - look back to the extra's on the first Office DVD, he was trying to tell everyone back then he got so much material from Karl and how funny he was.
If anything the impressive thing is these 3 have made a fortune on essentially the same old stuff, which we all still love, and are clearly still mates who just have a bit more money than us! :)

That was something Karl said but to be honest Rick and Steve did coax it out of him. Karl would still be toiling in the dark at XFM if they hadn't swept him up and sent him to the third world living in caves and eating bugs, squeezing and putting a bin lid on his head- so Rick is perfectly justified.

Ricky's comic timing is brilliant, and this is mostly his material anyway! He puts his own spin on things and delivers it in his own way, even if about ONE line of it was something Karl said. Get over it, its still brilliant.

@Serbskii Yes but Ricky and Steve where defending the whole "Give a goat" concept. And Karl had the exact views that Ricky gives of as his own in this video. In the podcast, Ricky thought it was a good way of distributing wealth. I don't really mind but i think its funnier to rant about your genuine opinion

@jwktje Like I said, most comedians get their material from other people, Karl's reaction to the Goat Present was hilarious, Ricky realised it was funny, and that other people would find that angle on the subject funny, so he used it as part of he's stand up, to make people laugh, and it worked...so fair play to Ricky.

But again, comedians often write material for other comedians and although the borrowed jokes Ricky uses are usually stuff said during podcasts, I'd still say he asks Steve and Karl first if he can use their jokes and ideas.

@theraka For fucks sake - its a charity event! It's not as if he's using this line to try and make money - just to make the event funny! He probably even okayed this with Karl! This is even mostly Gervais - its a performance where he applies a persona to his performance where he's annoyed about the charity goat gift card. Grow up!
