Pennies is considered money, 200 pennies is $2.. I don't think the kids would of even tried to rip off the lunch lady by giving them 1 penny less... That's stealing even if it is 1 penny short. But the fact the lunch lady wasn't that smart and had to count them all is the only wrong here. The prank was harmless and now they got there $2 and gave them a detention for 2 days. Did any one pay attention to the last 5 seconds of the video were it says the prank was in protest of the 1/2 hr lunches and was a message that they were to short? I think not, now think back do you remember in middle school how long those lines for lunch were and if you were unlucky enough to be last you had just 5min to eat all your lunch? Most school systems that I know of have 45-50 min lunch periods so everyone has enough time to eat lunch.

Last time I checked, pennies were part of the American system of currency. So these students essentially got detentions for paying for their lunch. Yes they paid with pennies but pennies are also an acceptable form of currency. I would have told them to kiss my ass had they tried giving me a detention slip.

When this class graduates, the students involved in this should hand the principal at the grad. ceremony a penny, when you pick up your diploma.
