the fact that they are encouraging US to read the treaty ourselves and BE INFORMED and then decide makes me trust them.

I've watched many sessions of the EP and those for YES tried to do exactly that: turn it into a question of "pro or against EU" which is not! it is about a treaty that stays close to people.

Perhaps it's outdated, but I must thank all Irish people for voting NO. I'm Portuguese, and I'm unhappy with the fact that our own P.M. promised to make a referendum about this issue but backed away.

And I admire the position of Ireland, as being the only country against the whole EU about this fact. The Treaty of Lisbon will cut our freedom and the true meaning of democracy.

I may sound like a conspiracy-lunatic, but with what we see from day to day, it sounds more like New World Order.

My wife is portuguese, im English. I love it when these EU supporters tell me im xenophobic or racist for being opposed to this new form of communism, then i can prove them wrong because my wife is not of my culture so how can i be xenophobic. Inaccurate Greg to argue that the 'No' voters wanted a dissolution of the EU. Both Patricia McKenna and Declan Ganley (two of the main 'No' campaigners) still want Ireland to stay in Europe.

The irony is that Nice now trumps the defeated Lisbon Treaty. What this means is that Ireland will eventually lose its Commissioner (for a period of time) under Nice. And, in losing our Commissioner, we will not have the same safeguards as those avialable under Lisbon.

The bottom line of this argument is "don't trust the people you voted into power to make decisions about what is best for your country even though that is what you originally voted them into power to do."
