I got infected by this and I had to re install windows, then a few months later it came back through the old os file and deleted the drivers for my DVD Burner drive! Now I cannot make disc!

@lewrites I killed the rogue very easly after that with superantispyware.... And the worst of that is that there's actually people who don't know and buy the fake program. The guy who made this should feel bad stealing money with this trojan!!
I've had 2 hi-jackers, Antivirus Soft, and XP Internet Security 2010. I got one from a porn site, I got the other when I opened an e-mail. I don't remember which was which. I ditched Antivirus Soft with system restore. I ditched the other with a free program called Malwarebytes. I still have the link for the free program, if anyone wants it message me.
@rumarbennix restart your computer and when you can open task manager directly!!!! Then just close the fake antivirus and follow the instructions to remove it...
how would anyone be dumb enough to fall for this thing? I had it I know I idnt put it there why would I trust people who disabled most of the functions of my PC. I had to go in safe mode just to get rid of this stupid thing. Then I had to do a friggen system restore then I had a no sound priblem after that I had to fix. This thing wasted 3 hours of my time trying differnt things to try and get rid of it.

@stealthisalbum1 I heard that you get it by having Microsoft Security Essentials Installed on your computer. So if you had that program installed, that might have been the cause of the problem.
If your system has System Restore feature to return computer to earlier operating state, then this is easy fix. To get to safe mode keep tapping F8 as computer is starting Click Start then All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore then Restore my computer to an earlier time and click Next ... typically the restore dates are in bold on the calendar that pops up, so choose one click next. The Restoration Complete screen appears then computer restarts, click OK and you are GOOD!!!
