I used to play basketball for the University of Minnesota and this song was played by the pep band while we were shooting around in warmups. It always invokes the smell of the arena, the sounds of the crowd and a great time in my life
@aligirl100 I play Tenor as well, and there are so many more flats than there were on alto. I love my Tenor though. Our director is just starting to bring back marching stuff this year, it had previously been dead in our school, then he came along and fixed it :)
I am in 7th grade and love music like this and hate the "not music" like rap and pop. I am doing a report on Sousa and was shocked that there was a song called "The Minnesota March" (me living in Minnesota and all). I have been playing the clarinet for 4 years now.
Cool. We have a lot in common. I live in Minnesota too. I also love Sousa. I play alto sax though, which means we have to hate each other. We are playing this for winter concert.
There's also the "Foshay Tower March" that Sousa wrote for the Foshay Tower's opening/dediciation, which (at the time), was the tallest skyscraper WEST of the Mississippi River.
off beats for the world :P haha, i write loads of marches and i try my best to give the horns better parts!! as it is they are one of the best sections :P GO HORNS!
I play this in band, I'm an alto sax. I'm going to the U of M :)

We're playing this at a concert. It's really hard cos I'm not used to all the flats cos I play viola and string players play a lot of G and D
