I have a doubt ! what if i put in a 1.5 TB drive in first bay and 500 GB drive in 2nd bay and i have putted around 1 TB of data , so what will happen if i remove the 1.5 TB drive ??
@donofthekuwait It won't give you that much space. It'll make "reserved for expansion" space and you'll get at max 465GB. There is a calculator on the drobo site, just google it
I am a professional video editor and the only complaint I have is that my DroboPro is just too slow to edit. Is only good for backing up. Not usable for real life editing. In my experience. Can anyone comment on this?
@alexedit1 If you have the new Drobo, the one with USB 3.0 or S-ATA rev. 3, you'll get faster transfer speeds. (The data you want to get to quickly, put it all on a SSD, not a HDD.) I have a 64 gig SSD running all my programs, another 250 gig SSD that I use for everything in my current project, and then 4 1TB drives in RAID that I use for backing everything up. (And I mean everything) which might be replaced by a Drobo soon. Hope that helped.
Hi Mike, could you do a video of how you partitioned the drobo? I will be using two 2tb drives and one 1 tb drive. I want to use the 1tb drive as a time machine backup for 2 macs I want all my media on a of the 2tb drive and I want that media backed up to the second 2tb drive. How would I proceed?
Hey Mike, Watched the video again. I have gotten more into doing clips & pics etc. for my kids. There seems to be 2 drastic sides 2 drobo. Was wondering how your Drobo is working as of 2day. Maybe another review? Thanks for the vids. Have a great day.
Hey Mike, I recently partitioned my internal HD for about 200GB just for my OS, Aps, Prefs, Etc. and all of my Pics, Movies, etc. essentially anything not system-based I have on mirrored external drives (looking into the drobo thou) so when I need to restore from Time Machine I only have about 40GB of data which is blazing fast just a thought you might find useful... Thanks for the vids!

Can I restore even a single file from Drobo, using classic windows copy feature ?
If I put a disk into pc, is it readable ?
Thanks
