  • I think he wanted to get back with his wife June Childs, but she had had enough with his non-sense. This makes this song so full of Marc Bolon's soul.

  • meatloaf but ah wont do that

  • The best , Marc Bolan is simply the best!

  • Bolan (along with Ferry,Stewart,Palmer) influenced alot of us guys to be "gentlemen" in our formative years. Thanks so much to Mark.

  • @toronto55 Interesting. Please elaborate.

  • if im not mistaken, this was marcs last song,i love him.

  • this man wrote some of the greatest lyrics ever check them out ,one of the all time greats.

  • @tafferty Also some of the worst. usually in the same song, yet he pulled it off haha

  • miss ma main man

  • Wow, never saw him in short sleeves before. You can really see his small stature here. I think he was about 5'2" but always appeared much taller in photos and on film...

  • Stunning version of soul by Marc but shit vocals from Miller on backing!!!!!!!!

  • This song and performance always warm my heart. There is something magical.Love to see Marc's really enjoying to play this.

  • Is that some sweet organ playing or what?

  • For those who do not know, Marc Bolan was married to June Childs, and was never divorsed, and this song was about her.

  • @DAVWAVE Hi Dave. Long time, no speak. Yes, Marc was still married to June when he died and he wrote this song for her because he still loved her. Gx

  • When exactly was this performed, what what the day.month/year. I know this was one of his last releases before he died.

It shows he had not lost anything and in fact he was as good as ever (note Gloria no where to be found). He found a dude who could do the backing vocals better and not scare the audience away.

  • quit moaning about the Gloria thing

    Delf n Kaz x

  • In addition to being amazing, I would add stunning.

  • Marc was getting back to his prime there

    stroll on main man

  • i was lucky enough to be there, great memories,

  • you were at this show?

  • yes it was Rollin Bolan headed by T.Rex with Ac Dc and leapy Lee backing, we just turned up and managed to get in. : )

  • hmm

  • un gran violero

  • Very good song........first time ive heard it

  • amazing

  • Bolan was a huge influence in my own music compositions.Hugs to Marc!

  • well you got the right inspiration :)

  • my favorite tune , by t.rex and their strongest line up

  • I change like the wind:

But this is my currant fav Bolan #.

    I love You Yeah!!!

  • Gahhd this is a raunchy ravaging of the runes of my tunes. It's a tossup between this SuperPop gig from 1976 and the Hall Of Mirrors version in 77 when the cheekbones were definitely sharper. And then he was dead. Sob.

  • I love this song and performance so much! Thanks for posting it.

And how I envy Marc's fabulous cheekbones. ha!

  • amazing! the most underated british rock star of all time.

  • @boppingelf

i really love marc bolan & t-rex, but i'm not too sure about that. arguably you could say that at times he was the most overrated british rock star....

  • @boppingelf

    Underrated - That's a truth!

  • I can't stop watching this video, its amazing :)

  • Ooh, this is so beautifull..... always a Marc

    Bolan fan.

  • Marc sung songs that were beautiful, honest, and that rocked! The stuff of legend.

  • Still my all time fav Marc song...ahhhhhhhh

  • This recording is simply super.

  • such a talented, mystical and beautiful boy! i think hes underated! on the 30th anniversary of his death they only showed a thirty minute documentary on him n on that they focused on his low points! always a star 2 me R.I.P

  • he was getting back to his prime rip marc never forget you

  • I think people forget that when Marc died he was just a baby (well very young). Who knows what path his life would have taken had he stayed with us.

  • Hi chanteleigh. What about Marsha Hunt and

Pat Hall. I believe that June was the true love of his life. I've read somewhere that Gloria fell in love with him at their third meeting but I dont think Marc reciprocated, at first. I certainly don't think that Marc was promiscuous. Think he fell in love quite easily and that's why I think if June hadn't walked out on him and left the way open to Gloria .....................

  • Marsha herself has said it a VERY brief tryst, but not love. I agree, Marc was not promiscuous, and being a triple Libra, he needed the security of a strong relationship. If June had not put her foot down, I wonder how things might have turned out. People forget that he was really still a boy in many ways. Not an excuse, just a fact. But a beautiful boy, and no other to compare. XXXXX

  • I agree, I loved his short hair (and his long hair!). He was beautiful and sexy no matter what....he could have put on a potato sack and still been gorgeous and alluring. What a lovely and sad song...written after his last conversation with June. The lyrics speak volumes. RIP beautiful boy. Keeping a little Marc in my heart.

  • From when is this? The beginning of '77?

How is it possible that someone loose that much weight and had so long hair again in a half year time? Today he will be 61 in heaven!

  • recorded and filmed Wimbledon Theatre London, July 13th 1976

  • the short hair is astoundingly beautiful.

  • I always wonder who Marc wrote this for? June or someone else.

  • By all accounts, he wrote the song after having his last conversation with June. I love this song, but the story behind it always makes me rather sad. Keeping a little Marc in my heart.

  • Hi chanteleigh. Maybe Marc had someone else in his life? Another life with someone no-one knew anything about? All I wish is that he was happy. Gx

  • Hi, Pargaluvva! I suppose that's possible, but by all accounts from those who knew him for many years, he really didn't get around that much, if you know what I mean. Yes, he had a few trysts while he was with June, but the only real MAJOR relationships he had were with June and Gloria. Somehow I don't think a less significant "affair" would have prompted a song with lyrics like this.

Like you, I hope he was happy, and it sounds like he was, at the end. Beautiful boy. XXXXX

  • Mój ideał faceta. Agnes

  • i remember staying up late to watch this when it was broadcast in 77" it was truly an amazing night for me

  • the tyre burst on the mini causing gloria to lose control.........

  • AWESOME SINGLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One his best singles!

  • awesome tanx gloria

  • May I ask you why?

  • To think that this beautiful face, heart and body lay dead, smashed on the road like a crushed flower.....is just tomuch to handle! My heart still cries for him as long as I will live....

  • Marc's ex-wife June did see him in his coffin at the funeral, and she said he looked perfect, except for a tiny bump over his left eye. He mainly died of internal injuries, and his neck was broken. The car had been speeding, and Marc was drunk, so it's unlikely he knew what hit him. What a waste.

  • June was not his ex-wife. Their divorce was never finalized. God, I wouldn't think they would have had an open casket. He was cremated after the services. Bolan may have been drunk, but the driver (Ms. Jones) was drunk. He had nothing to do with the wreck. RIP dear Marc.

  • Marc was drunk, but Gloria was not at all. It was a mechanical fault that caused the crash -- one of the left wheels was only loosely secured after being replaced.

It really was nobody's fault, and people just need to realise this. None of it was intentional, planned out or due to drunk driving.

    Accidents can happen.

  • I remember watching this in '77. I thought then, well he keeps on writing great songs, and the melody to this is just sooo awsome. Truck On across the universe.

  • What a wonderful thing to say, put well. I think as long as we keep his melodies in our hearts, he will soar on, no matter where he is...."Like a bird":)

  • Is that Gloria in the background?

  • Best version of this great track. I miss Marc so much for not being here, but then maybe he is!!!
