If your child is buying video games that contain violent content then you should be the one to blame, it is your child and your responsibility. It's the equivalent of watching a violent movie or televisions show and what research has found is that the correlational coefficient of violent videogames and violent kids is 0.17, and that's VERY small on the scale. And in addition, the only people who are affected by this are a very small and select group of people.

Why do parents buy M-rated games for their kids? There are other good games that are kid friendly. Don't buy your ten-year-old son COD or Halo. Get him a Pokemon or Mario game. I'm under the impression that either parents don't look at the box art before buying the game or they just don't care. You can tell the targeted age of the game without looking at the rating. If a 10 year old goes into a game store and tries to buy a mature game, they can't. The clerk will ask if the kid if they has a parent with them, or he/she will say "Sorry, come back with a parent". Why do parents buy M-rated games for their kids? There are other good games that are kid friendly. Don't buy your ten-year-old son COD or Halo. Get him a Pokemon or Mario game. I'm under the impression that either parents don't look at the box art before buying the game or they just don't care. You can tell the targeted age of the game without looking at the rating. Guns and boobies? Adults. Colorful characters? All ages. (unless it's Conker's Bad Fur Day)

The effects of kids playing mature games is not the fault of the child or the game; it's the parents'. While some kids (like you) my not be effected, others can be much more sensitive. It's a matter of likelihood and is not absolute. I also hate it when little kids whine and get their parents to yell at me when I pwn them on Xbox live.

I remember when I first played Half Life on my now old as dust Windows 2000 my dad had and I thought that the game events really happened.
