  • BEAUTIFUL

  • vashtity

  • Enya and Vashti make up almost all the music i hear now . Enya's haunting tune from LOTR and Vashti's sweet voice soothing like the ocean . :)

  • I'm paying this song on a loop. It shall never end.

  • Perfect for chilly days like these :o)

  • LOVE..

  • hauntigly beautiful voice

  • love to her

  • zooey deschanel looks so much like her

  • Much like early Joni Mitchell - very nice - a really beautiful song!

  • life has no reason** kind of an important mistake in the lyrics in the description

  • Wow this is my very first introduction to Vashti Bunyan. I'm blown away.

  • voice of an angel :)

  • Vashti is brilliant. NicK Drakes actual soulmate though was english singer Bridgette St John. He used to tour with her and stay up playing guittar with her. Rare thing for Nick.

  • why her songs are always short :(

  • if i get high this song definitely could blow my brain outta my head... beautiful!

  • makes me love her and nick drake even more ! JUST BEAUTIFUL , obessed XD

  • Made my cat levitate !

  • This girl is fabulous never heard of her until tonight

  • Robin Williamson of Incredible String Band named his daughter Vashti...he played on her Diamond Days album.

  • @ pohg21: it is indeed Persian name however Vashti is still English, born in London and her parents were John and Helen

  • @kjellepe yup and she claims to be a direct descendant of the great English allegorist, John Bunyan =)

  • Vashti is gorgeous....so is this song.

  • It's 2AM and I'm sitting in the dark.. Listening to this and getting goosebumps. So pure and powerful. I feel like she's here in the room, singing to me.

  • nick drakes soulmate ,,, same producer as it happens .. perceptive comment ..

  • happy i made this discovery today.

  • Hermosa canción , hasta ahora me gustan todas!!!!

  • oh god that is such a BEAUTIFUL song! :)

  • @dzmerr Nope. Vashti is an unusual name alright, however she is English.

  • @kjellepe

    Vashti is a Persian name.....

  • tell me bambi, of the caged heartsong! Im not gonna top this find today.

  • 6 robots watched this video

  • Eh baby, the ox is blue and I am too.

  • Pic at :54

That strand of hair makes it look like she's got a double chin.

  • beautiful beautiful!! Love it.

  • Oh my god. Smooth as silk!

  • bella

  • Classic! Of my favorite songs of her's.

  • .¸¸.•(♪♥(♫♥(¯`♥♫d(-_-)b♫♥´¯)♥♫)♥♪)•.¸¸.

  • This is so beautifulm, makes me feel in peace.

  • she's like a combination of Nick Drake, Fiest and Jesus

  • @NickDaNerd Jesus? When did he put out an album?

  • @NickDaNerd absolutely right!

  • Nick Drake was a shut in. & that's what made him great. He had that tortured genius thing going. All locked in up there with his guitar, as his only outlet. Vashti's reminds me a little of Sandy Denny, mixed with an unplugged Amy Lee.

  • this music doesn't seem real in the same way fairies and unicorns aren't real. does that make any sense?

  • @creaturefear woah you just blew my mind :-) lol

  • @JuanLMFAO i need to cut back on the shrooms

  • wow...anthem of 60's

  • just seen her at Howard assembly rooms in Leeds. Nice arrangements beautiful melodies x

  • she's not better than nick drake, although i guess that's subjective... this is however one of most beautiful songs i know...

  • Vashti is supreme and sublime. Far, far superior to Nick Drake in my opinion. I've got tickets for her show at the Union Chapel on 11th April, and I cannot wait!

  • I saw her perform on the Nick Drake tribute tour recently in Brighton, and she sang well.

She's scheduled for her own gig on the 10th of April - so she's still vital and vocally strong.

  • beautiful.

  • Im into alternative rock, indie and psychedelia. I discovered Vashti Bunyan just a few years ago, and was blown away! Breathless! So incredible beautiful. The magic and haunting mood of her songs, transcending all time and trends. Her two albums are now among my top favourites. Divine!

  • i feel the same

  • sweet voice and a wonderfull performance

    thanks for sharing !

  • beautiful voice

  • Vashti's not gone! She's a new album out, called Lookaftering. It's about her time between then and now, being a parent. Despite the fact that a lot of people would seem to like her to be the female Nick Drake, she isn't. She just got out when the getting was good and led a normal life - albeit with caravans, dogs, cows and so forth. Good luck to her!

  • And like Nick Drake, I'm sure that she is gone or damn near. Gorgeous!

  • Gah, but ain't one tired...

  • Thanks for posting. I don't think I've ever seen that many pictures of her at one time before.

  • me recuerda a nick drake...

  • was thinking the exact same thing.

  • Gorgeous voice but such a small discography.

  • heard her name from years back but first time i have heard her singing, very beatifull & haunting.

  • I've never heard of her.

  • Well you're lucky you have now.

  • playing it for the 6th time now. Im officially addicted. Such a beautiful, sad, comforting song.

  • i concur, always found it very comforting, too :)

  • this is pure talent at its best, such a soothing voice, but in the same way it is very powerful, I am in love with this

  • Classic song by a fantastic talent!

  • A one-off. Quietly brilliant and from a place of total integrity. Had the great pleasure of seeing her live a couple of years ago. Her music is an act of pure humanity. Even better than Chas 'n' Dave.

  • she has the most beautiful voice i have ever heard.

  • i love her so much! her voice is so pretty and enchanting.

and without her amazingness, joanna newsom might not be such an amazing artist as well.

Vashti Bunyan influenced some amazing artists.

  • She's Nick Drake's Soulmate :)

  • One of history's big "ifs...".: I read somewhere that back around 1969-70 that somebody tried to get Vashti & Nick together to work on a song or two but nothing came of the hoped-for collaboration. Kinda sad, but to think what might have happened...but it's good we have the recordings of both Vashti & Nick to enjoy forever.

  • "to enjoy forever" - i feel the same about these two artists

  • @hugojrneves Such a perfect comment. I totally agree.

  • Sublime English folk song. English! Be proud of your heritage for God sake!!!!! I like modern crap but this is SOUL!

  • @hugojrneves you are so right !

  • @hugojrneves wow i was just thinking that... i found both by accident and when i was feeling down.... both have the same kind of energy

  • @hugojrneves Agreed! As a side note here, I read in an interview with Vashti that once there was an attempt to pair her and Nick Drake together and either write some songs and record as a duo around 1970 or thereabouts, but things didn't go as planned and sadly, these 2 great talents never made a record together. Look around online for the interview and read more about it. It's a good read and informative as regards Vashti's life and career.

  • @hugojrneves Haha, now that I think about it. They would have the most depressing, existential kids of all time.

  • @hugojrneves Definitely

  • @hugojrneves i was just thinking how she is like the female version of Nick Drake , well said

  • @hugojrneves

Possibly more like a soulmate to Cat Power. This is pretty twee stuff.

  • Her voice is so magical...gives me goosebumps.

  • eh...dude ! she WAS well known those days !

    how old are ya ?

I loved her already when I was twelve...

  • Pretty song, tune, lyrics, voice...wonder why she wasn't more well known.

  • This fits my mood right now. Exquisitely beautiful.

  • everything leaving´s zzzzzz

  • this is really great! how old is her music?

  • vashti bunyan 1966)

  • soundtrack to every walk away.

  • love it

  • I'll put up the other version "Winter is Blue (Reprise)" as featured in Peter Whitehead's film: "Tonite Let's all make love in London" where Vashti is recording the song ON FILM IN THE STUDIO. I work for Peter Whitehead, he is a very interesting person.

  • her best song. that voice, that voice....

  • It's a really pretty song, all of her songs are.

  • I love the lyrics to her songs, they are beautiful. I've never heard anything like this song or any of her other songs.

  • she's beautiful...what a beautiful song ..wow Im in love aha

  • It's like floating on a raincloud.

  • I agree with super wolfs comment it is a beautiful beautiful song. Very moving and haunting.

  • her voice is hauntingly beautiful

  • Very sad. I like it.

  • nice

  • "If my heart freezes, I won't feel the breaking." One of the best lines. This song!!!!!

  • if vashti was a tree she'd be a Willow

  • that's so true! 0.0

  • vashti bunyan is wonderfull and still is wonderfull as singing love her music :D

  • nice song!
