ha ha why does the interviewer like bob his head up and down like.."yeah, huh, oh yeah. I got the beat" ha ha ha like he's just grovin' with it...people who interview guitar players do that shit ha ha ha
he's a cool down to earth guy, besides that i like people from sheffield im from scotland but i have always found that people from sheffield tell it how it is!
@BJrok Yes he did say 013-56 gauge strings. I am thinking of putting some on my Washburn MG30 with the floyd rose. Seeing Phil using them that heavy makes me wanna try that.
13's?! i think i love phil even more now! and yeh in response to all those comments, its alot like upping your weight when working out. a begginner doesnt try and bicep curl 50kg. Its a gradual increase.
Yeah, I guess he does. It just blew me away when I first heard it. I mean, the highest I ever went was 12's on an acoustic and I couldn't bend to one step, lol.
13's???? Yea, Phil & Viv are both using 13's now. That heavy of a string is great for a nice thick tone but SHEESH!!! I have trouble with 10's killing my fingers after a while. Think I'll stick to my 9's lmao. Yngwie uses 8's... so he says. Now thats to light, I'd bust the bottom E every time I just look at the guitar much less play it...LOL
13s are a lot of string! trust me, but I've never popped one, went thru a million 10s, but never a 13,the metal picks rock too, but a nice chunky dunlop does the trick without worrying about scratching my PC1!
I play with metal picks but I didnt like that picks that phil plays with. I got one from him an vivian at a show for the euphoria tour an I didnt like them. I play with the cymbalic picks in stead. I lvoe his playing hes the bee's knee's.
@JoaoT805 What a true comment , because Phil , being a good friend of Steve , actually learned to play Steve's style , which was not easy . Dude , great insight !!!!
Your band sounded good man. I was just giving you a hard time. ;)
I happen to be a huge Phil Collen fan so I get a bit testy when people say negative things. Not only is he a great guitarist but he is one of the most down to earth people that you will ever meet.
You guys should check out his other band called Manraze. Phil does the vocals and the guitar.
No problem man. It may take some time to get your guitar in tune with those huge strings. I know when I put them on my PC-1 it was very difficult to get in tune and keep the bridge in the correct position. Of course a LP has a different bridge so you may be okay. Good luck!!!!

Ship towing cables! I don't think I could bend more than 1 fret higher! Skolnik from Testement uses the same gauge. U better have a good truss rod!

that metal pick sounds way to fucking harsh and 13's. Jesus I play 11's. Most guitars can't handle 13's on constant. Can easily warp the neck!
chosen1Imcoming 2 years ago
I HAVE played 12's before... (which was pretty ridiculous). I think it's a little much, unless you're in Standard C tuning...
