judo and jiu jitsu are not actually related in any way.bjj is being confused with japanese jiu jitsu.japanese jj is the joint manipulation technique used in ninpo(ninjutsu)it mostly consists of evasion and weapons disarm techniques as well as nerve strike and bone braking.bjj is a mix of the ground control of judo and the joint locks of japanese jiu jitsu.also judo is a derivative of aikido which was the defence art used by the samurai.
jjj, judo, bjj etc. they're all related and there is ground work in judo that you see here so it doesnt look like any art in particular its just a ground technique thats applicable to sport judo
@AudienceKiller66 judo and karate was created way after... jujutsu - じゅうじゅつ ー柔術 / jiu jitsu is a tradename belonging to Garcie`s familiy and refers to brazilian jiu jitsu which was created on judo basis.
Unfortunetly I must admit that today`s bjj have more common with traditional judo of Jigoro Kano than today`s Budokan judo X/
Like the other guy said, you've got it all wrong. Japanese Jujitsu (and its many styles) preceded Judo which eventually lead to the rise of Gracie/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I think you've just messed up the terminology. Also its Kodokan Judo not Budokan.
@albate I agree i made a mistake by referring to Kodokan as Budokan, my bad, but why are you correcting me for sth i`ve said right by repeeting what i`ve said.
Chronology i`ve written is the same as you`ve written.
@AudienceKiller66 and the style's ancestors comes all the way from India. Grappling styles from India spread all the way to east Asian areas and reached Japan. And that's like thousands and thousands of years ago.
@OmarDelfinity If you really want to trace lineage, ancient Egyptians were the first to create martial arts. The beauty of jiu jitsu is that they created submissions which does not exist in india.
@moelicious416 Not true, the Jambhuvanti and Jarasandhi styles of Malla-Yuddha, incorporate submissions and breaks, and that is a traditional indian wrestling style.
@Audience Killer 66 judo was derived from aikido not jiu jitsu.jiu jitsu was derived from ninpo(ninjutsu)the samurai used aikido and judo to defend themselves if unarmed.jiu jitsu was used by the ninja to counter the samurai's throws and takedowns because early judo styles did not yous joint manipulation the ninja perfected locking techniques in order to destroy the wrists and other joints making weapons used impossible thes ninpo techniques later became jiu jitsu.
so these grappling moves only work if the other guy is wearing a karate cape? so if he is not wearing any clothes at all, you got nothing to grap unto?
in fact it does work when not wearing a gee what u do is pinch with your index finger and middle on the inside and with your thumb on the outside of the elbow witch in itsell not the throw is very painfull
I know your post is two months old, but anyway... Almost every Judo moves or variations of them except for some of the chokes, can be applied to even a naked person, its just that having somthing to grip onto is easier, and without it in competition and randori (free practice) throws would be much less common as trying to throw an experianced thrower isnt easy at the best of times. Also its safer, as some "naked" variations for moves call for you to grab onto some very painful places eg hair, ear
I would suggest you do one at a time so you don't get mixed up between two. although ju jitsu closer to karate (strikes etc) suggest judo to give you broad range. Hope you enjoy the judo, and feel free to ask Qs
well jiujutsu is more on the floor.. I tried kickboxing but wasn't for me.. I think judo is really fun because you get to learn the techique standing (tachwaza) and on the ground as in juijutsu (newaza) it's really fun :D
haha thats kinda like me, i am going to do kickboxing over the summer until the judo place re opens in september........ idk why but i just cant punch people, ill kick em but not punch em lol
Hahaha, yeah dont get me wrong, just coz I think it sucks, doesnt mean I have any hatred towards it, I just think its largely over-rated, and no I havent personally done BJJ, I have trained with people who DO BJJ and have done BJJ, and I have learnt a bit of it myself from those people, but as a martial art, it really isnt as good as everyone makes out.
dude, aikido came after judo.... and judo came after jujutsu.... connect the dots

Get your history right. Jiu Jitsu > Judo > BJJ
Jiu Jitsu is not a trade name belonging to the gracie family. Jiu Jitsu is from Japan.

judo was derived from jiu jitsu, and holds onto a lot of the ground fighting aswell.

no perhaps he meant the situation when it's summer. everybody has light t-shirts on which is basically useless to get hold of.
the only option in this case , is to grab the damn hand! lol

People imagine their punches will damage the opposition easily. Actually its hard to hurt them/KO them, easier to throw a person and KO them.

Some very nice techniques. I like the entry in to juji at at the beginning. As Tori is facing in the same direction, it catches uke by surprise.
The turnover into saganku/hold down/armlock is very useful too.
