  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

  • NOPE Colm Wilkenson was better.....Sara is the best though

  • this is the best cast of Phantom and Christine

  • i think that if sarah sang with the real phantom it would be perfect

  • love love love!!

  • Michael Crawford's voice is perfect

  • 2:36 - 2:39. Best part of it all!

  • if u love the phantom then you'll love my video "throw out of the opera" our verison of singing it is waaay better i think we should be on broadway

  • 155 people obviously don't have any good taste in music.

  • she did an amazing job with the whole "aaaAAAAAAAAAA" at the end, better than all the others i've heard

  • @Cuttie1207 well nothing beats the original

  • Wonderful, love it.

  • This song gives me goosebumps! LOVE IT!

  • @Mileneum69 that is true

  • I love the drums at the start

  • One of my favourite songs from this musical, Sarah and Michael are outstanding, enough said.

  • dgdhftdrtrtutjgnvfuturdgfjhgjggjhk %$#%$#$#%$&%&...... she is amasing jeje ...... LA AMOOOOO ES MI IDOLA JAJJAJJAJJAJAJ

  • i think i may have murdered the replay button.

  • I love Sarah Brightman. I sometimes wander around my house singing her songs {Off key} and annoying the crap outta my parents.

  • I like so much this version. It's the best.

  • i wish I could sing like that....

  • My school choir is going to do this..this'll be EPIC!

  • have seen this a total of 3 times here in Cleveland - and justly pissed that it'll never return to the city.... though i do have to say, seeing it for my last time, I took my girlfriend, and we sat 10 rows from the stage - simply amazing performance as always...... i guess now the only way i'll see it again is by going to Vegas lol.

  • @DJX187 At least you got to go. I was never able to. One of my life's regrets.

  • amazing

  • Nicole Scherz... eat your heart out. THIS is music, not your attempt at this song

  • Michael Crawford with Sarah Brightman. This is the only version I listen, the rest lack something...

  • Feckin love this :)

  • 2:37 I get chills

  • 2:35 i get chills

  • This is one of the best musical theater I ever watched.

  • This is a lot different from the Michael ball version I think it is just as good and better in some areas of acting, but i still like it better when Michael Ball belts out the top notes better the Michael Crawford, but Crawford has a way better phantom characteristic to his voice on the madness side making this one just as great =).

  • @TheZbane and the Christine in this one is the best. No one can top Sarah in the role of Christine.

  • I'll be singing Sarah's part in this song for my school's talent show!~ I'm glad her voice isn't ridiculously high like some of the others have done. Its easy for me to sing in her voice range. I love this song!~ I just might post a cover here on YouTube. :)

  • Love the intro, it's the best part of the whole song <3

  • I never linked the Phantom and Frank Spencer. Never. It just shows how versatile Michael is that he can play this seductive, passionate, dark character so perfectly and emotionally - and then he can be absolutely hilarious as this dippy, clumsy, idiotic everyday man. True genius.

  • @LoveFromShinola Genius he is, a real living legend, to be able to portray people that are so far apart in the spectrum of acting and singing. I know of no one else past or present who could ever pull that off with such brilliance.

  • I think Michael Crawford's voice is absolutely amazing, but I prefer Emmy Rossum's Christine over Sarah Brightman.

  • @ProtectorOfDeer I saw it at Her Majesty's Theatre in London.

  • My parents are taking me to see Phantom today! So I've been listening to the soundtrack all last night and today! (it never gets old... :3)

  • just fantastic its simple you can't dislike it!!!!!!!!!!

  • the music is irresitible and haunting..

  • btw the music in synthesized, right? not an orchestra

  • @schwarzfalk this is from the OLC recording and the music is an orchestra.

  • @thephantom1946 It nevertheless sounds awfully artificial ... and the voices would have deserved music which sounds as alive as they and not like cheap big band music out of the can.

  • I hear the phantom of the opera since i was 2 years old,my mum played to me,so I grew up hearing, then I watched the movie, and I got myself in love, ever since,I've watched the movie a thousand times, this year I went to NY(I'm brazilian) I'm 15 now,and I went to see the play.I Cried like someone was dying when they played overture when the chandelier goes up,and everytime a song started I cried again trying not make noise.I just wanted to share this, cause any of my friends love it the way I do.

  • i love it!

why wasn't this song in my collection, years ago??

  • such an amazing song, the best version by far

  • I listen to this song for hours on end and I regret nothing.

  • Michael Crawford sounds just like Andy Hallett (the singing demon Lorne from Angel)! Absolutely captivating voices.

  • The movie version was great but I found it painful to hear some of the songs after hearing Michael and Sarah go at it. They did the best fo sho!

  • Sarah was amazing! And Michael Crawford nailed The Phantom! He was brilliant. He has quite a different voice from most male singers & that makes his Phantom really stand out! Plus he is only actor to capture the true spirit of the way the character was written in the novel. His Phantom is quite mad! You can hear the insanity in practically every note he sings & that my friends is what makes him the definative Phantom Of The Opera!

  • @jimsed1964

What about Gerry in the 2004 movie

  • @EdwardThomas0607 He was good as he always is ( I won't say a bad thing about him), but he doesn't quite have the power of Michael's voice.

  • @GiraffesandRabbits a moronic girl who dosent listen to rumors? i mean, the opera house couldnt have TWO enchantments! thats no coincidence... >:/

  • @EmilionEmilion Do not speak of his name whilst listening to this hallowed song!

  • @EmilionEmilion

Why would you mention his name on here. This has nothing to do with him. Phantom Of The Opera is much better then any of his songs anyways .

  • @EmilionEmilion this is a time for gothic romance... NOT MODERN POP!

  • So Frank Spencer finally found a job he was great at ;)

  • @SpinKicksusplits86 You will find that many female fans find Erik and his sociopathic behaviour sexy. I do! I love his psycho side....YUM! HOT!

  • @audiesgirl I agree, you dont nessecarily need looks to drive a girl in your arms, even if you look like Leroux Erik.

  • I actually went to a live stage performance on the West Coast some years ago. It was full of memorable melodic songs throughout. My physical presence in the theater made me feel like I was on the stage rather than in the audience. No doubt, it’s the most unforgettable and favorite opera I’ve ever been to.

Lloyd Webber is a true music legend.

  • @MrJedijacob70 ouch >< thnx for saying so but i read it too late T^T

  • Every time I go to the West End, I see this production. Love it!!!

  • There will never be a better Christine or Phantom, Crawford and Brightman were the best!!!

  • @ManicOne80 agreed...was lucky enough to see them twice...long live the phatom.....

  • @ManicOne80 yes! much better than the movie

  • @93ghostgirl Not just the movie they were the best out of ALL productions around the world.

  • One of the best musics that I've ever heard!!!

  • I thought she'd choose Phantom. I mean, who wouldn't choose Phantom?

  • @GiraffesandRabbits Have you seen the actual stage production? He's terrible!

  • Saw the the Phantom of the Opera in LA 1993. Awesome and I am not even an opera buff type of guy.

  • i get goosebumps every time i here this song and i randomly start singing to it...

oh yeah im playing this in my strings class :D

  • @kittykatmeow224 This song is so amazing on string bass <3 (I haven't heard it on any other string instruments yet)

  • I love phantom of the opera. One of Webber's best in my opinion. But I find it irritating that the version from Nightwish has way more views. That isn't right.

  • @spock101010 I think the Nightwish version has more power behind it, that's why I like it :) Always good to listen to this tho(:

  • @spock101010 I agree. I don't mind Nightwish's, but this is SO much better! Especially the singing!! <3 Michael Carwford and Sarah Brightman! <3

  • Beautiful, haunting, dark music. Saw the original musical many years ago at the Music Center here in Los Angeles with Chris Gaines, Michael Crawford's understudy.

  • Phantom is up there with Les Misearables

    Amazing Musical

They are the two best musicals of all time

  • watch the musical in london! its even better! :)

  • THE BEGINNING IS STOLEN!!! IT'S ECHOES BY PINK FLOYD

  • @aotsfan007 dude are you stupid? they sound not even remotely similar.

  • @aotsfan007 are you an idiot? phantom is a classic. why would they bother stealing it. its not the same at all.

  • @LovelyLilPaigelkinzz open your ears you stupid fuck. roger waters even said it was stolen

  • @LovelyLilPaigelkinzz webber is a no talent fuck anyhow, that's why he stole it.

  • Especially loved the ending part of the song with Miss Brightman as soprano . The background music then was cool too , had a nice melody

  • The music in this song gets me every time...just so powerful and haunting. Saw it on Broadway and had it playing in my head for weeks after. Love it!

  • i like the phantom of the opera, never see it live =( but i think the best version of this song is the one of Nightwish, just my oppionion.

(sry for bad english im german)

  • I was 13 when I first saw this on Broadway shortly after opening. It made me fall in love with the theatre, and Sarah Brightman. There will never be a Phantom as powerful as Michael Crawford, nor will there be a Christine as Powerful as Sarah Brightman.

  • I prefer the phantom from the modern theatrical version. Not saying it's better, or worse. Just that I liked it more.

  • Thanks for posting this. I have no chance to see Michael’s performance on stage, but I can still tell he is the best phantom from video and CDs. He has a voice like silk and crystal. And the way he uses it is even more beautiful. His sensibility gives it soul. It’s not surprising that someone just can’t appreciate it as there are people listen without ear, sing without heart:)

  • Can anyone explain to me what it means when the lady who brought him there tells him to 'keep his hands at the level of his eyes' i don't get why she says that?

  • @Thevixen8 In the book it is much clearer. Erik's(Phantom) signature weapon is a noose/punjab lasso, and the theory is that if you keep your hand at the level of your eyes, when he wraps the rope around your neck, because your hand is caught too, it will be easier for you to slip out of the lasso.

As much as I love that musical, the book is alot better! You should read it.

  • @mithragirlbunnie Ohh i get it that makes sence, thank you :) I didn't realise there was a book, i'll definately try and get hold of it :) Thank you!

  • @Thevixen8 You're welcome!

  • who else thinks he sounds like Dracula would sound

  • @XxnaruxhinaxX559 ha! I can totally hear that!

  • 148 deaf people watched this video

  • Apparently this was my favorite song when I was four. That explains so much.

  • saw this on broadway with the original london cast when i was 13yo it was what made me love theater. Great Song... love the high note at the end.

  • how can one "thumb down" this masterpiece???

  • @ThomasHA1982 easy there stupid and deaf!!!!! and have no taste

  • @ThomasHA1982 BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING STOLEN

  • @aotsfan007 Easy now :-D

  • @ThomasHA1982 but it's a stolen song, listen to echoes and tell me it's not the same.

  • The kitty did a whoopsy..... he is a true artist

  • i love this

  • I love how this song sounds like the only 80's song in the show because of the use of electric instrumental.

  • I used to fall asleep to this when I was little

  • My orchestra is playing this:) gonna be cool!

  • @mlemurph i dont know why some write that name of that boy in every part, when he comes not to the case. why? this is other level dont fuck me

  • @pegaso82 In the original book his name is Erik.

  • @MyCoffeeLove did they change his name????

  • @ZodiacBryan Yes, in the 2006 movie and on stage he has no real name.. but fans call him Erik anyway. is last name is never mentioned in the original book so people make up all kinds of different last names.

  • @MyCoffeeLove that movie came out in 2004

  • I love Sarah Brightman <3

  • gah i love this song, last year a girl had that song as theme song for her part in the anual fashion show and she rocked with a gothic theme

  • I am disgraced that there is even talk of Bieber on here, good or bad, his name needs to stay away from the big dogs of Broadway, and music in general, that being said Im listening to this while watching the 1925 silent film of this, So Cool

  • @TheEthanator6 yes, I agree, that is like saying Norma Desmond and Sunset Boulevard was nothing, a silent films classic, but hey, no beiber, doubt he would even understand the themes

  • @TheEthanator6 wow thats lamer than ur username.......lol sorry mate

  • @TheEthanator6 thank you! i was getting really sick of hearing his name. How is the 1925 version? I've heard it's scary but good

  • @TheEthanator6 I agree 100%.

  • @TheEthanator6 the real phantom movie rite there, good stuff

  • i love this song!!!! ever!

  • To all those who loved Phantom, nothing can beat this version, Robbie

  • in the third grade i did a report on the phantom of opera

  • i want to marry Micheal Crawford's vocie.

  • I remember when I was about five or six years old, I loved Sarah Brightman and would always watch her concerts on tv. I also had a video version of P.T Barnum with Michael Crawford. I suppose it was only a matter of time before I fell in love with Phantom, too. =)

  • So high-pitched!!!

  • Thumbs up or micheal crawford will come and noose you.

  • I LOVE The Phantom of the Opera~~~<3 It's not only in my mind, but at heart too. Love it~! Story and music. Sarah has a great voice, and Michael is enchanting. Wish I was Cristine =P

  • Emmy who?

  • Sarah Brightman's voice gives me chills when she harmonizes! <3

I loved her singing in "Music of the Night"

  • justin bieber wished he can sing as fantastic as micheal crawford compared to him, justin can't sing at all

  • @KeirraSparks I'm not the greatest fan of Crawford but I do know that he's got such an eerie and powerful voice with a great range. Comparing him to Justin Bieber is just...no... I'd rather drown a kitten than use Bieber and Crawford. In the same sentence.

  • @nddlj I love drowning kittens. I can help.

  • @awesomegreenlantern ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :@

  • @nddlj What? Animal control.

  • @nddlj i know it is just wrong I LOVE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA AND CRAWFORD IS THE BEST PHANTOM THERE IS

  • @nddlj "I'd rather drown a kitten than use Bieber and Crawford. In the same sentence."

    Irony ftw =)

  • @DelphinusMAch1 oh wow my baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

  • im so in love with Sarah Brightman's voice in this and Repo i wish i could have seen her both times i saw Phantom cause i was have proabbly lost it, shes so amazing. <3

  • i would have chosen the phantom. just saying.

  • As much as I love Sarah and Michael, I really want to hear a hybrid of this and the Gerald and Emmy version with Emmy and Michael singing.

  • In middle school we sand an exert of this song and I instantly fell in love. I could hit the highest notes and loved it for that reason at first but then it progressed and now that I have seen the movie, I am truely in love. I wish I could have seen the play when Sarah was in it. I loved her in Repo.

  • i love sarah brightman you should check out the movie repo the genetic opera she is so beautiful and amazing in that

  • @jpineaultful That was where I first saw her actually. I knew the Phantom of the Opera with Gerald Butler in it and then I found out Sarah Brightman did this as well. I LOVE her as Blind Mag. She does the character so well.

  • @SkulChick2010 and shes so beautiful too really an exquisite woman all around please tell everyone you know to check out repo i really love that movie and i think enough people need to know about it

  • Michael's voice is so haunting :o

  • very good, very ...... i can't say!! :)

  • my cd does no justice as does NOt youtube, this was such a fabulous show...i could go to the same production, same people, 47 times at least...so powerful, so wonderful, so breathtaking, so...need i go on????????

  • I found this on casset and, since i have a '90 honda w/ out a cd player, I listen to it everytime I go out. I cant decide which is better, this or movie version??? Oh well, they both send shivers down my spine lol.

  • I was obsessed.....for so long.

  • They both have these amazing unearthly voices- they both kind of send shivers down my spine

  • you're not gonna tell me this is better than Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum?...

  • @FrostAntiS They're equally good, just in different ways.

  • @FrostAntiS AMEN! Gerard Butler and Emmie Rossum are not fit to carry water for greats such as Crawford and Brightman.

  • *bows*

  • Polish version is the best!

    /watch?v=oMh6edHmrcc

  • @HarleyQuinn97 bad joke

  • i love this!!!!! sarah is amazing !!

  • 147 people couldn't hit these notes.

  • @ooloparo I can't hit those notes, but I hit the like button and would press the mega-love button if it existed.

  • rip off pink floyd
