  • this is DEFINITELY not Djent....

  • I liked it.. surprised to see this many dislikes.. and I'll never understand why you guys feel to split hairs over what genre it is..

  • @JBic420 *feel the need

  • @JBic420

IF 2 songs don't sound exactly the same, clearly the problem is a genre classification issue.

  • Dubstep.. where? D:

  • nice work! try working more with metronome, i actually recorded my dubstep cover for skrillex [check out my video] using metronome, and it helped make it tight as possible!

  • YOU NEED CLEANER HIT, AND TEMPO

  • What snare are you using?

  • Djent and Dubstep are not the same thing. Djent is music; Dubstep is computerised garbage.

  • If was alright

  • dubstep and djent...the two genres that very few know what they sound like...well were meant to sound like...if they were meant to be a genre...

  • What snare is that? Jesus!

  • sorry its not djent and barely dubstep, just cus the song has weird sounds doesnt really mean its dubstep

  • how is the djent?.. not trying to hate im being totally fucking serious

  • hate dub step but nice drumming. nice ride too btw

  • oh god, lol

  • WICKEDNESS, GRIME, AND PWNAGE!

  • Your snare sounds like a soda can. Other than that, pretty cool video!

  • You can't compare dubstep to djent. Dubstep is a spit in the face of music.

  • i like your snare, thats all, o.O

  • this has nothing to do with dubstep or djent

  • Core Snare <3

  • learn to play drums. and understand that nothing in this video is djent or dubstep

  • try a maple snare with a 6.5 shell. that snare is too high for this music. Too poppy.

  • you little shit. you stole my idea.. except i was going to do it blasting.....

  • Im really sorry, but it sounds really lame.. And I would not call any of that Djent.

  • I've never seen anything like this. Super cool.

  • Damn dude! That snare sounds so good. What head is on there?

  • sounds like iwrestledabearonce and meshuggah had an autistic love baby...

  • sweet drumming mate. nice drum mix too :)

  • I enjoyed the song. The sound effects were REALLY loud in comparison to everything else though.

  • that was fucking horrible lol

  • Ugh, how can someone call somekind of drumming both, dubstep and djent. Dubstep fucking sucks and djent rules.

  • Good stuff bro! :-)

  • @joeydrummer19 Thanks man! That syncopation did come out pretty cool, haha.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic that seems like a TEEENY TINNNNY Snare, what type is it?

  • Djentstep?

  • sounds like djent to me, listen to algorithm - access denied

  • @EidolonReality you must have had allot of reactions telling djent IS a music genre but I had to post one 2! djent is deffinitly a music genre. In the metal it is the most intelectual type of playing. pop/ rap/ hiphop. and so on.. cant be compared to it. but they cant be compared to any kind of real music.

  • To be specific.. Djent is a sub catagory of metal. It's a word invented by Meshuggah who originated the style. Ever heard Meshuggah? Periphery? Tesseract? Animals as Leaders? Chimp Spanner? First Signs of Frost? Cloud kicker? Those are examples of djent type bands. Fucking morons come on trolling on a title of a video. Move on.

  • @EidolonReality Its a genre dude. It shouldn't be, but it is.

  • @merrsshee the guy hating on Djent is a fucking idiot. Probably not even a musician either. Fucking troll.

  • is your studio in siberia by any chance?

  • Honestly this was really fuckin awesome..............to bad i cant download the song on my iphone:(

  • @EidolonReality Just because the bands don't say so doesn't make it so. No one has to stand up and say "We're a djent band, this is djent" the genre evolves naturally and the terminology follows.Exactly, sjent was propelled into people's consciousness because of the internet, a scene develops and the word "djent" sticks as the genre title. Like it or lump it, there are loads of djent bands out there calling themselves djent as well. I can't remember the last "Sumerian-core" band I saw.

  • @EidolonReality Can you not see that these bands have a style that is uniquely their own. Calling them progressive metal is like calling Morbid Angel thrash. Yes they came from these styles, and share many similar qualities, but whole new sub-genres spawned among them.

  • @EidolonReality Just because Misha doesn't consider it a genre doesn't make it so: Ozzy doesn't consider metal a genre, he considers is all rock - and that's sure as hell not true. The meaning of the word has evolved, and the people like you who want to seem cool and know it before everyone else, or better than them, or whatever; and be like "it's not actually a genre, I know all about djent because I'm super-cool"; are wrong to say that it hasn't done so. Language evolves and "Djent" is proof.

  • @EidolonReality lol you got this straight from fredrik describing his tone from the guitarworld article didn't you! lol \mm/

  • @EidolonReality Just using the chord doesn't make you djent. Look at bands like Born Of Osiris. They have a very djenty tone, but they don't play djent music. There is a new sub-genre that has been created by bands like Periphery and TesseracT (if you can't acknowledge that then you obviously haven't been paying enough attention to the scene) and it needs a name. For whatever reason, the name that has stuck is "Djent". It once was just onomatopoeia for a guitar sound and it's become a sub-genre.

  • @EidolonReality You can't deny that bands like Periphery, Tesseract, Fellsilent, Monuments, Vildhjarta and those ilk have their own characteristic sound. I agree the others are ludicrous, but they don't have an entire scene around them. The aforementioned bands all fit in to one genre that does have a distinctly different sound than other progressive metal bands like Opeth or Protest the Hero - for example - and that sound characterises them together.

  • @EidolonReality Nice urban dictionary definition. Would you rather call it the "new wave of internet based prog-metal"?

  • How the hell can you rape djent with dubstep? Shame on you...

  • Comment removed

  • @EidolonReality people take everything as a genre these days

  • oh my gosh. our band have future plans of combining djent/dubstep and indie genres together. at the moment we have promo video: /watch?v=DRwIMWhFs9Q

  • Djent is a djenre.

  • @EidolonReality le sigh. watch?v=m8PiIz003iM

  • Nice hat / headwear man. Diggin' it.

  • OMG people, djent isn't a style of music. It's a classification of guitar tone, basically. Look at the bands Periphery and TesseracT, the 'frontronners of the djent revolution' (if that's not too bold a statement) and they both agree djent is a sound, but metal is the genre. This video is like.. hardcore trance, maybe

  • @EidolonReality go back to the faceless

  • there is a survey in got-djent to define djent.

For myself, I dont think djent is a genre... it is a combination of technique, tone and groove that you can add to metal/mathcore/progressive rock. What @EidolonReality said is true. do not fully trust wikipedia

  • Djent is a genre! Raaage

  • @EidolonReality Don't worry man, if its not a fully fledged genre it will be soon

  • Your snare sounds really good. What kind of china?

  • what kind of china is the one to the right?

  • @EidolonReality Back in messugah days yes, but now with periphery and tesseract out there it has developed into a genre.

I mean, country is also just a piece of land with it's own rights and government, but it's also a genre. So get over it.

  • @EidolonReality Sure! It is also a genre of music :D

  • @LukeSnyderMusic It's really not a genre though man. Not being snarky, it's just an onomatopoeia.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic its not a genre don't be a dumb ass

  • @EidolonReality "Djent is a heavy metal genre," Wikipedia - Djent

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Seriously just cause it is on wikipedia doesn't make something so.

Djent is as much a genre as classic rock is in my opinion. Every Djent band I heard to me sounds like extreme metal just a bit more proggy and to me, that's where it stops.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic I edited Call of Duty's Wikipedia once to say it was a game for the "Bros". Wikipedia =/= source for music, especially with brats who follow stupid bands.

  • wanna have your snare !!

  • jealous of your set =/

  • that was really nicee :D

  • Very cool. I like the one hand rolls on the snare (or whatever they're called, I'm not a drummer)

  • this isnt djent -.- at all. not even CLOSE.

  • wow thats cool

  • badass

  • Your drumming is good, I dislike the music.

  • there's a guy behind you lol

  • this is the shit bro.what kind of snare is that? i love the pop.

  • @jake1519 Looks like a Pork Pie, but don't quote me!

  • @jake1519 it doesnt have a shell. its made by Marcus De Mowbray but i dont know how to contact him any more

  • lol at the face.

  • Everyone, fine, its not djent or dubstep. I don't care what its called, that is as close as I can get to naming the style of music. What would you call it?

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Poopcore

  • @LukeSnyderMusic fucking brilliant xD

  • @LukeSnyderMusic djentstep. Its got djent tone on guitar and dubstep rythm and wobbles

  • @LukeSnyderMusic djentstep. Its got djent tone on guitar and dubstep rythm and wobbles lol

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Djubstep

  • @LukeSnyderMusic

its def. not djent completely but its good shit

  • Not Djent, still fine drummin´

  • that snare sounds like joey jordison's '99 snare on their self-titled.

  • just cuz you're doing triplets it doesn't become dubstep...

  • dude hit your drums harder. like a man. do it. be brutal

  • This is pretty tight! I like it man! Good job!

  • this is more dubstep mixed with industrial.

  • Dying Fetus snare !

  • hells yeah dood!

  • This is really fucking cool, regardless of how shitty dubstep, itself, is.

  • i like the breakdown with the china

  • this is a misnomer

    i am disappoint

  • Comment removed

  • shit the sound of that snare reminds me of Joey Jordison 1999 ;)

  • @BurnedFaceShreder you mean the one and only record they ever needed to make - ''Slipknot'', 1999? :D

  • There is not Djenting, nor is this a very dubby dub step. Who you tryin' to fool?

  • @theallmightyham ohh this is very dubstebby actuallly... at least the drumming is... he is not trying to replace the bass but if you listen to the actual drumbeat of some dubstep songs you'll find very similar bass and snare combinations... like normal 4/4 beats like the first ones you usually learn followed by bars with similar beats but the bassdrum playing doubletime(8th or 16th notes) for example

  • poor techno and Marilyn Manson style guitar supposed to be Dubstep and Djent? don't bullshit me

  • @ivanspecs Never listened to a Marilyn Manson tune, I have no idea what his guitars sound like, haha. Plus, that wasn't even a guitar. Its a synth.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic that's why I named him, guitars in his songs also doesn't sounds right

  • @LukeSnyderMusic but though this sucks badly

  • @oCyfiuso Haha, what's wrong with it?

  • @LukeSnyderMusic its wrong to call this djent OR dubstep because it has nothing of those

  • @LukeSnyderMusic yeah seriously luke...this sucks so much that i'm watching it like the 20th time already ... seriously man what's wrong with you? xD

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Nothing, it's awsome. this guy is a douche.

  • @oCyfiuso got 2 troll? fuck off dick face! it's awesome!

  • @LukeSnyderMusic that's a synth? how the fuck did you create that sound, I 've tried tons of things but never gotten anything that sounds close to a guitar in any way. what synth are you using?

  • @ivanspecs whats funny is the fact that an idiot like u cant do 1 quarter of what snyder did! so stop fucking cussing get your shit straight and learn to appreciate music for what it is u stupid fuck!

  • @DrumPlayer4life you don't now what I can do, baby

  • @ivanspecs hey maybe learn a little something about instruments before downing someone who actually has skill... lets see your professional videos hrm??? btw luke is that a porkpie drumset, its interesting.

  • @ivanspecs What the hell kind of stick do you have up your ass?

  • @warriormole

  • Sounds a lot like Static-X to me

  • Love the break down style @ 0.20. Great work dude, solid as fuck!!!

  • GTFO, STATIC-X.

  • respect!

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Damn thatd b sooo fckn clean fer real. Im not good at learnin shit by ear even if its All simple. But can u? Id do a cover of this song fer sure. kingykang@yahoo.com Ayy wat is MIDI? i have that on my keyboard.

  • This shit is hella sick.

Theres no way u can send the tab?

    Cmon.

I tried learning it. I tried it in drop B. Is that right.

  • @KING3407 I'd have to go and check, haha. Its pretty simple though, you shouldn't have too much trouble figuring it out! It was sequenced in midi actually, not played on a guitar.

  • Dude, killer track. Sure I'll subscribe!

  • @rndmfreAk Awesome! Thanks so much, and I'm glad you enjoyed the tune :D

  • Dude don't look now but there's someone behind you!!! lolol

  • sounds like something Enter Shikari would play.

  • no djent or dubstep here, but good playing

  • Wow this is really cool, very nice interpretation of the two genres and blending them. Pretty progressive

  • @halfwaythere333 Thanks man! I try to make everything I do progressive :D

  • Man awesome!

  • k custom medium ride?

  • @Killenmachine05 Medium-Thin Dry Complex ;) I love that cymbal! My first pro cymbal that I ever owned.

  • nothing of new.....just some blast shit....

  • give me some more offtime snare hits, leave that 2+4 shit in the dust

  • @wtfhdmsupermantaken that "swingy 2-step bassline" is called a wobble bass, just to let you know =)

  • Interesting. But this isn't dubstep at all. Dubstep has a swingey 2-step bassline and garage/dub influences.

  • that snare sounds great.

  • This is fucking rad mate! I love it!

  • Alright who care if he labled this vid wrong? Get off his ass.. This is tight bro.. Supre clean

  • @19DUBBS Haha, thanks man! Its cool though, I need to learn my genres better, haha. Its tough with random stuff like this...

  • Djent? This? No.

  • You just copied The Algorithm...

  • @AvengeXKing I have no idea what that is, so I didn't really copy it ;) Haha, but I'll check it out

  • @LukeSnyderMusic the algorithm is pretty cool, but you're actually playing the drums to a track, he programs them, but plays the guitar tracks. so its similar but through different means.

  • @AROBcyprus Yeah, I played and recorded all the parts of this track too!

  • @AvengeXKing Not that many people know The Algorithm

  • I love your snare tone. Grindcore as fuck

  • man this kicks ass... i think im gonna watch all of your videos now

  • @c0d3x001 Awesome! Hope you enjoy them :D Thanks for dropping by dude!

  • Kind of reminds me of Static-X.

  • how about it be called dubjent or jentstep :) problem solved!! nice song btw

  • @bloodshotneo Haha, if you look at the song on my Bandcamp where you can download it, I called it Djentstep ;) And thanks! Glad you enjoy it!

  • @TheReclusiveVoice Nooooo!! You flagged it for the wrong thing! ;) Haha, thanks man! Its definitely a combination I haven't really run across before... crazy stuff! I like to mix genres XD

  • hahah nice!!!!!!

  • Thats not really Djent dude, look up travis orbin, thats true djent.

  • @marctmoser Travis Orbin is a sessions drummer... he does stuff with a wide range of bands, from pop music to metalcore. Are you talking about his stuff with Periphery or something? And this tune definitely has djent influence, but it is amalgamated with dubstep and a couple other styles as well. Many characteristics of djent are present in this song, including low palm muted riffs on the guitar and odd time signatures/mathematically based grooves.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic This has very little djent influence. Just because your hitting your cymbals on the up beat does not make this djent and/or groovy at all. Travis orbin is not JUST a session drummer he actually makes money in a little band called a sky eats airplane. Also saying low palm mutes make it djent is just bullshit the word djent came from a 4 string power chord with a specific tone. Originated by Meshuggah. If anything, the genre would be dubstep with little djent influence.

  • @codyjay23 Dude, I'm not trying to fight; constructive criticis
