For sure, can't wait for the 4g, my only isssue is with the smaller screen size.
A lot of people Reading this comment simply can't acquire Apples latest iPhone, since it will be $489
Your in luck I realized on the Apple FB Fan Page earlier they are giving away a few thousand iPhone 4gs. Save ya some time, heres the link to their contest webpage copy + paste
im not sure why my post got down rated i said the app was good but didn't have what i needed however...
thank you conquero76 for informing me of the shoutcast app. I'm downloading it now its what i had hoped the winamp app had since i access shoucast using winamp .
i just downloaded this then i realized that all the music on my computer should be on my phone in the first place so whats the point? If they let you access their awesome radio feature i would happily download it again!
I just setup my winamp remote... took like 5 minutes... was so easy. I'm waiting for the Nvidia Tegra to come out before I drop money on a phone with internet... But i can watch all my home stuff at work now... :)
sorry if its a naive question but iv enever used the ORB site to see how it looks/works.
my question is: can you make playlists and use them or must you que up each song individually? this could suck pretty bad if driving or on a road trip and your hands cant be "driving" the phone the whole time...
Have you tried music (protected aac files) that you bought from the itunes store? Also this works in 3g and wifi? It renders storage obsolete, but the only problem is battery life.
I guess you miss the point of this. It's not playing the tunes through the iPhone, but rather via the iPhone to the desktop (winamp). If you are wanting an App to play music through the iPhone check out Simplify Media.
AndI do andwnloaded it to an my i anPod touch, and it own works fine and. It plays through the iPod and everthin andg, it's not mea annt sp andecialy for the iphone, it works with anything with an internet connection
Srry about the horrible typing. The new firmware for iPod touch makes It impossible to type because it lags so bad.
Anyway I put the Orb server on my webserver, and it steams to my iPod touch just fine. Since no app is allowed to access the music on the iPod touch an iPhone I don't see anythng like hat you were saying happenbg.
hmm..I tried it using the First Generation iphone. It recognizes all the songs and stuff.. but when I hit play, it shows a file broken icon... Is your phone iPhone 3G?
Sounds pretty cool. I think I'll probably end up jailbreaking it whenever I get my own iPhone lol. I'm sure there's an easier App out there that can do this...
@idslite its about using the music on your hard drive on your desktop pc wherever you are without a large limitation on storage *(but of course you have to pay for internet connection for both phone and pc and leaving the power on)*
you can play any of the tunes in the file-paths you've indexed - the paths that get indexed automatically when you install Winamp Remote on the PC where you have your tunes are C:\My Music and My Docs \ My Music, and you can add paths like your Desktop by right clicking on the Winamp Remote icon in your systray, then going to Configuration
Uhhh the Remote App is for control the music ON YOUR COMPUTER. This is for listening to music on your computer on YOUR IPHONE. Which means, you can listen to your music at home on-the-go.
though eretic87 didn't say that Remote from AppStore is better (just more useful for him/her) I would like to point out that these are two completely different applications. Winamp remote allows you to listen you music on a mobile device (or any other computer through browser). Your computer should be online for this and you can forget about syncing. Just access your music on your hard drive in folders you select to be shared in this way. And you can listen to your friend's shared music as well.
Ok...I think it was the lame DLS connection at the coffee shop I was sitting at earlier. I am back at my hizzy with my WiFi and it is working GREAT! Finally someone makes something that works cross-platforms. More end-user control! Thanks Ya'll &
I have this set up. It works on my PC, but via my iphone and wifi it plays for a few seconds then it stops on every song. I have this coming off an USB drive via my home PC hard wired in. Any suggestions you iPhone Pros? Thanks Matt
but there is also Simplify Media which lets you do the same thing with iTunes. On which ever computer you install Simplify Media on you can access the songs through wifi. pretty much the same concept.
Ok, slow question here ( as I just found out about this ) ... does this work anywhere you are, say outside the house? I jsut tried it on my iPhone and it works.
I just wish this would play videos on the iPhone with Winamp Remote, but it doesn't work, right file type too, mp4, also tried wmv, and avi.

The ONLY file types that don't work with this are DRM-protected files. I'm playing an mp3 here.
And yep, works with ANY form of Net access: WiFi, 3G, 2.5G, etc.
And exactly: it removes the limitations of the storage-size of the iPhone. ALL your non-DRMed home music is now available anytime, anywhere.

How did you get quicktime to run on ur iphone like that? Is ur phone jailbroken?
niftyhawk 3 years ago
nope
i'm just using the safari browser - and then when i click play, the stream goes from my home PC to the quicktime player
mumbles 3 years ago
As long as it's a file that quicktime understands, it's all good.

It make no sense why should I want winamp in my ipod-touch o iphone? when it already does all that winamp does.
LasxMalvinasxArg 3 years ago
maybe because your iphone/ipod touch can't hold 300 gigs of music?

Anyone who'd like to know more, just take a visit at winamp's website, and look around... I doubt you'll have a hard time finding it.
