Now that I think of it, I do recall this version from my childhood. My Dad was a huge Johnny Horton fan, and we had to listen to his music wherever we went. I grew tired of North to Alaska over time, but this particular song struck me as gold. I have always liked this version more than any other.
this is a great 78 for a Philips.I thought Johnny was on Columbia outside the US and Canada! No Scratches and sounds great! Thanks for sharing!Brainy,Brainman Media
I just bought a video Camera. How to I get it hooked up to make videos like this? The regular Mic picks up too much background noise. thanks disneysongtape
Well, you have to plug SOMETHING in to you soundcard when you record with a webcams microphone too, non? You just plug there the record player's output instead of the webcam's mic... well maybe not in the microphone plug, rather in the "Line in", you just have to set the correct source of recording in the volume control before you start capturing
I just happen to have his Broadcast Music Incorperated (BMI) Citation of Achievement for this song 'Honky Tonk Man' that he received in 1956. I also have a picture of Billie Jean Horton (Williams) signed.. I do like this song a lot. It;s gotta be worth quite a bit to the right collector. His music will live on forever!
This song was one of the songs that kept Johnny in the record company, this made top 10. and once battle of new orleans came out thats when he skyrocketed. this song is the foundation of Johnny Horton's career
I agree with you one hundred percent billmills.Johnny Horton was a legend .Did you know that he was a very hardworking man, pushy in life but fate had something different for him. Many a times he was involved in street performances and popular among the neigbours .He would freakout with them on weekends.A lovely soul that he was.
I never realized that Johnny Horton is credited with co-writing this classic song. Thanks for including such a nice photo of the label. He was more of a talent than most of us who loved his 'Sink the Bismark' and 'North to Alaska' ever knew. It's a terrible shame that his early demise kept us from having many more years of Horton songs and performances. But, his contributions to music history shouldn't be overlooked or forgotten. Again... sincere thanks for posting.
RIP Johnny Horton. Just read that he had premonitions of his death, just like Patsy Cline did. Eerie.. RIP :(

I am not using a webcam. I am using a hand held video camera. disneysongtape

oh... well then you will need video editing software to mix the two together.
Idon't know what format your cam cpatures in, but Virtualdub is probably the best for the job.
