I think it's been fairly obvious for a while now. Mysterious how Rose and Bernard haven't made an appearence since before the bomb went off? They probably didn't flash with everyone else, stayed back in the 70's, and died together in those caves. From old age or by murder.

Some of the dialogue from them in the Season 5 finale convinced me that it's them. "If we die, we die. But all that matters in the end is that we're together..."
