Yes it would work. A cheaper alternative to the KD-8 is the Yamaha KP65. It seems to be sold only at musiciansfriendDOTcom however.

I don't see what the POINT of this is. Why can't you just plug in the 1/4" jack into the ION module and play it? Someone PLEASE EXPLAIN!

The point of this is that the ion modules does not take a piezo signal, it takes an on/off signal. this converts the piezo signal to an on/off signal.

OH I never tried that but since it is a "real bass pedal" it should work. I would try it butt my GHWT set went bad the first day I got it when it was released.

Hey Cena. I have a problem. My kick box registers all hits BUT doesn't send all hits to the game. Like on Inside the Fire. I hit those into bass patterns PERFECTLY ON TIME but only registers one of them, It registers quiet hits and hard hits but not fast hits. I've played around with the sensitivity but it simply wont register fast hits.

No it will not work with GHWT as the kickbox converts the signal of a real drum trigger into the reed and switch signal. So the kick box works in reverse of the GHWT kit. If you bought a Roland KD-8 or a kick rocker, you could plug those directly into the GHWT kit and it would work unmodified.

from what i can tell you plug the trigger into the kickbox, then take a cable and plug the kickbox into the back of the rock band drum kit... it's basically like a signal converter i guess thats the best way I can say it

This is a very informative video. After purchasing the ION kit and realizing the stock rodeo pedal is actually a high hat pedal, this product will make my dream come true. I can now use my acoustic drum set Axis double kick pedal on my ION kit! Now I just need to buy the Roland KD-8 which seems to be the most affordable trigger pad. Thanks!
