Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. Not really.Take hedgefund managers for instance. They are investing other peoples money...take a fee when they win (often billions) but they pay 15% (capital gains rates) while folks like you and me pay more.

Same is true for Investment bankers.

Same is true for money that was parked in offshore bank accounts (happens all the time) that was never taxed to begin with, then reinvested here.

Fund managers get a fee based on a percent of the value of the fund, they pay ordinary income tax rates on the fee... but the big money comes with their share of the profit (typically 20 percent) on which they pay only a 15-percent capital-gains tax. It should also be taxed as income.

Then you have investors that get almost all their income as capital gains (Buffet for example).

Thats the kind of thing that Obama is trying to tighten up on.

In the case of Buffet, he is paying capital gains on money he has already paid income tax on. There is nothing to tighten up on. There are sound reasons capital gains are taxed at a lower rate than regular income, one is the gains are often simply inflation driven and nothing real has been gained.

Where the unfairness comes in, is the folks that pay 70% of the tax have 80+% of the income and total wealth. i believe that fits the definition of unfair.

As for those that pay 0%...those are the WORKING POOR. They get the Earned Income Tax Credit because about half of them are living in poverty and the other half barely get by.

Not always. Companies charge what the market will bear. And they only pay tax on profits not on sales.

A company will not raise prices on a profitable product simply because their profits are taxed. They raise prices when the market allows. Then they pay the tax. Or in the case of most large US companies, they dodge the tax. When they dodge the tax..the govt. losses revenue..has to borrow more, and ultimately our kids pay the bill.
