I have been on Clear for about a year now. I have noticed lately they have been advertising 4G unlimited. If I watch a movie or download a few songs, or watch some youtube videos. Then my speed goes down to .045Mbps. When I call about why my speed drops they say I am a heavy user. Then I tell them its supposed to be unlimited. They say can you still connect to the network? I say yes. Then they say O. K. your still using it. This is called throttling. I think it is false advertisement.
I have been using the Clear 4G Wimax for Live Streaming for Churches and it appears to be one of the few that is pretty steady for general use. I am not sure that a gamer will ever be happy with any wireless system. Think about it, most gamers are not happy until they are using Fiber which is growing but not their yet. Yeah, 15mb up and 25mb down is crazy for Fiber, while Cable is just a few times the Clear4G. I run Voip on on unit and the office on the other and it works great.
Also, Best Buy needs to STOP SELLING their shit... I personally complained to the store manager to pull it.. its NOT 4G... not even Dial up is as slow as it is when the fucking tower throttles you.. It put me down to 8 Kbps...
those techs were extremely shady to me, and instead of a FULL lump sum refund they refunded me over a 2 week period, $50 a day.. WTF? Worst ISP ever..
@austinite04 - It's a straight bait and switch. First month I was getting 6Mbps down, now it's about 1Mbps. The only good thing is they dont cap my data (see last update). So, I'm still dancing with the Devil for now.
I've called Clear to check my bandwidth usage. The rep told me I use an average of 62,000mb (60 gb) per month. So to illustrate 60gigs a month, that's an average of two movies a day. I asked the rep what cap should I stay under not to be throttled, they said "We do not know, the tower is automatically manages speed." 2mbps is NOT 4G speed. Clear wire is a shady company. I feel sorry for those techs. Buyer Beware.
