Many people says that Lost Odyssey is like Final Fantsy.. is it true? (I have only played Final Fantasy 8)

Yes, it's the same style as that of FF8 because it was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi who produced the Final Fantasy series. If you ask me, Lost Odyssey is better than FF8. It's on par with some of the best FF games like 6 and 7. If you like the Final Fantasy games from 10 on down, you should play this. You won't be disappointed. Another major plus to this is that the music was also done by Uematsu who also did music for the FF series.

Me coming from a JRPG expert I have played and complted every FF to date including Blue Dragon, I have to say LO is one of the best GFX concept todate... Having already completed this game 100% already in such a short time This just shows what Square Enix and Mistwalker have instore for the future!!!! Keep a look out! No more of this crappy air slashing and funching the wind to hit an enemy this time the GFX shows that the characters get up close and personal!

DMC4 is really good! Besides the weath 2nd half of the game which Dante was the minor character... still an amazing J-Rock Slashfest

not everything is about graphics. FF7 and FF8 had great stories, and bad ass characters. you cant argue with that. the FF series up until 10, maybe 9, helped define what a good rpg is. this is a great game. rounded characters, and a good plot. whoever says turn based games suck, doesnt know what they are missing. i bought this games, have played for hours and have yet to be bored, or even complete the first disk lol. great game, is a must have for FF fans

lol come on u could play ff8 at level 15 through cause the opponents level always fits urs (i think for every 10 levels). where is the develop ur character aspect gone there? thats the only shitti thing in 8 but thats the reason which makes it really bad

Well, let me elaborate on that previous comment. FF7 DID have impressive cinematics, but the in-play graphics were really very awful. I mean, you would expect them to have hands - not cubes. And the monsters to resemble actual beings. Most PS1 games had mastered that by then. Then you look at ff8 or ff9, and you see how big-a leap they made.

you never understood the concept of FF8? the point is not to level up cause that gives about nothing, it's all about the junctionsystem... to draw magic, train your GFs to get different skills and to junction magic to different stats, that's how the growth system works. I know quite much about rpgs, I've been playing them since late 80s

Dude, kill yourself. Seriously, FF8 had the worst system of any JRPG. Junction system? You trained GF's... not characters. Once ya swapped out characters all ya had to do was drag the Junction with them. None of the players had any individuality WHATSOEVER. It was ridiculous. The system was broken. If you can't understand that you've probably never played an RPG before that in your life. Even FFX had a better system, at least it had actual character purpose and design.

Since I've got a bit older I've started to appreciae graphics more and more. When I was younger I was like 'graphics aren't important,' but now when I look at a game like final fantasy 10 I really admire how it looks, it seriously impresses me. If only things could be like this, uber graphics, old school gameplay, with a kind of special learning system (Which he copied from his ff9 anyways...).

If a game has incredible graphics, it rarely does. I mean, obviously other elements mater a great deal, but games that look good tend to play good, because they're usually better in more than the 1 category. I find playing a photorealistic game is FAR more fun than playing one with 12 polygons per model - Graphics enhance a game a great deal.

I mean, if FF10 and FF7 had the same graphics, I would prefer 7. But they don't, and that's one reason why they're contested for my top spot.

You must be 15 if you think gfx = good. Most of us twnty-sumthin grew up during the age of 3d. For the longest, everyone pushed on us the concept of gfx = gameplay. But it was never true. It still isn't true today. Luckily, with LO, we get the whole package. Anyone who thinks this game is in dire need of a graphics update is in my opinion in fire need of therapy... and maybe an eye exam.

GFX certainly enhance the experience. For the same reasons people prefer to live in the countryside. And if a game DOES have good graphics, like I said, it tends to have good gameplay as well - not because of the graphics.

I have the game, when a battle starts or a cinematic starts the frame rate drops a little but ONLY for a second then it goes back to normal.

The framerate is a problem with the U3 engine, at no point did I throw my controller at my HDTV when it occurs though. When you've played as many PC games as I have, you forgive a bit of framerate issues. Even Gears of War has this problem, Half Life 2 has a perpetual sound stutter bug from the Source engine. None of these make either a bad game. LO is no different.

Final Fantasy became garbage after FFX, that being the last good game in the series.

Lost Odyssey will blow it out of the water. Only a team headed by Sakaguchi can give FF a good atmosphere, and it is most interesting to see him competing against a series he created.

This game truly does look awesome. I've seen other previews that show a bit more of the characters involved and game content. Everything looks SWEET! I was looking forward to FFXIII but the gameplay looks to colorfull, lots of neon colors. I like the atmosphere of this one better.

Dont get me wrong, played it and found it to be enjoyable, but FF7 is not the greatest RPG ever by far. There are numerous better ones that should be remade first, like Chrono Trigger, an americanized version of the PS1 or PSP Tales of Phantasia, or even remakes of the old Dragon Quests tho I dunno if they already did or not I lost touch with the series after 3.

Turn-based combat is slow... but it is an art... and you can't really compare real time to it because they are so far removed from one another...
