  • Mmmmmmm. Awesome raw vegan living. Love it! Yum! If everyone knew how GREAT the food, nutrition, health and fitness being vegan is, everyone would switch instantly.

If you knew what I knew...you'd be vegan too!

  • @FathomlessJoy I completely agree! Thanks for watching and for your enthusiasm. :)

  • What did you make the burger from?

  • @Hazeleyes10061101 Please check my other videos made around the same time as this one. I list most of the ingredients in either this, or another video. It wasn't a recipe. I just made it up. Thanks for watching. :)

  • Im a lacto-ovo vegetarian (though I don't consume dairy products alot). Can I ask why your a vegan, and at that a raw vegan? Im not being critical, I'm just curious.

    The burger looks great though.

  • @cpmc1 It's hard to answer that question simply. It's a combination of science and ethics. Suggested reading: "The China Study". Suggested viewing "Earthlings" (can be found online to watch for free).

  • @thrivesurvive Thanks for that. I'll send you a PM.

  • @cpmc1

I can answer the vegan part. For most people who are vegans, I think it is an ethical choice. Vegetarians make the switch for health reasons just as often as they make the switch for ethical reasons. Raw vegan is for one's own health, as far as I know.

I am a vegan. Vegan is a lifestyle as well as a diet. You don't purchase animal products (meat, leather, eggs, whey protein, certain soap, dairy to name a few things).

  • @cpmc1

As you probably know, and as I just specified, there are certain foods that vegetarians eat that vegans choose not to eat---the main two being eggs and dairy. There is nothing inherently wrong with eating eggs, as they are the unfertilized eggs of chickens, or as some people like to say, "chicken periods." The issue is with the way the industry is run---not just the factory farms, but the free range as well. Most people have heard about the horrors of factory farms,

    Continued to 3....

  • @cpmc1 Comment 3

but most people don't know why "free-range" can be a problem too. The problem is, only female chickens can provide eggs, but half the chickens born are males. The industry practice is to kill the baby male chickens. If you raise your own hens for eggs, and you don't raise in equal number of males, you are contributing to the death of the males chickens.

It a similar situation with milk; that male cows often become veal because they have no economic value.

  • @cpmc1 Comment 4

Some people make the choice because they don't approve of the treatment of the cows who are milked and the chickens who give their eggs. Some people don't like the idea that we manipulate these animals for our own benefit at a cost to the animals. Cows for example have to be pregnant and give birth to produce milk. We continually impregnate the cows to make sure we get a steady milk supply.

Feel free to ask anything else.

  • @mellamosean Thank you for the comments. I am one for health reasons; but as RAW vegan, there is research against it. Actually, I probably would be a vegan, save for Vitamin B12, and I am not so found of the supliments. You are probably talking from an American perspective (no offense); some places here (Ireland, and England, Scotland and Wales) are keeping male chickens for future eggs. Some, but not most.

  • @cpmc1

Yea, I don't know too much about the raw vegan diet. I don't like the idea supplements either, I can't believe they give us all the nutrients they say they do. My b12 comes from supplements in soy/almond milk. After awhile I'll check my b12 levels w/ a doctor and see if they're holding up. Yes I am talking from an American perspective, but what you described is what happens in America. Some males have to be kept for fertilization I believe, but most are not.

  • @mellamosean Okay I think I said that wrong; I didn't mean to imply that it doesn't happen in America, but honestly I didn't know, I can only really say what happens here. Obviously some male chickens MUST be kept, but what I was saying is that un "unesscessary" amount of male chickens are actively being kept alive.

Does nutritional yeast not provide vitamin B12? It's yeast with the actual bacteria responcible for the synthesis of the substance, and I heard it provides quite a bit of it.

  • @cpmc1

yes, I have heard that nutritional yeast does provide b12, I don't know much about it. Definitely look into it. I came across it once and was considering getting it, and than I forgot about it, so I'll have to re-look into it.

  • @mellamosean good for you. I havent ever seen it in Ireland.

  • @cpmc1

I saw it online, at a website that sells things in large quantities. You could buy 1 pound, 3 pounds, 5 pounds, 10 pounds, or 50 pounds of the stuff.

  • @mellamosean I haven't seen the site. Would you give me the link if you can? Also, can you pay in Sterline (£)?

...50 pounds... thats... quite a bit...

  • I was improvising today as I was hungry and was out of a lot of veg. So I improvised a burger with flaxseeds, sunflowerseeds, onion, paprika powder, cilantro, garlic, olive oil, himalayan salt and just a dash of tamari. In food processor. I didn't even dehydrate it as I needed to eat, but it was awesome. Defo making that again, love that it wasn't dehydrated and still had all the water... ;-)

  • @skylar2319 That sounds delicious! Sometimes it's also nice to dehydrate only long enough to dry the outside, leaving it nice and moist and warm inside. Thanks for sharing! And thanks for watching. :)

  • u look great:) n so does the raw burger, im making some right now!

  • @theusedjosh Thanks! I could totally go for one right now. Can you toss me one of yours? :)

  • I enjoyed your video so much. You were adorable to watch after making your condiment. I'm the same way when I come up with a new recipe myself. As far as the darkness under your eyes, I have the same problem.make sure you're getting enough water. Some told me kidneys and liver. But I also heard hereditary. Thanks again for the great video. I really like your ideas.

  • @Joni48 Thanks so much! I think the dark circles are hereditary. My biological father had them too, and I have had them since birth.

  • yuck

  • @khunopie yummm

  • @thrivesurvive ok U win

  • this looks great!

  • @didrock17 Thank you!

  • Are you OK? I am not clowning you or your video, the food actually looks quite appealing. Just from a fellow human to another fellow human, even though you are very pretty, you look a little tired or sick because of your eyes and face. This happened to me when I tried to become a vegan. I hope you or your crew don't rip me to shreds for asking, I'm just saying. I had two forms of anemia. I was very sick. I needed both injections of B12 and a special liquid iron supplement to get well again.

  • @tribunalfunk Thank you for your thoughtful comment. My eyes always look like that because of my heritage. I even looked like that as a baby. I recently had my iron checked and I am not anemic, but I keep an eye on it. I take b12 daily to be on the safe side too. I am going to get a full check next week to make sure things are still ok. I have adrenal exhaustion, which may also explain why I don't look so great. I think I just finished a really long hike before I made this video. I was worn out

  • deLICIOUS lolllllll she sounds so angry every time... this looks really really good

  • @classicalheartburn Thank you. I don't mean to sound angry. I just got back from a really long hike and was really tired and hungry

  • @thrivesurvive it sounds like you just REALLY hate having an empty stomach and delicious food right in front of your face and not being able to eat it, it's funny

  • @thrivesurvive you DO NOT sound angry LOL

  • @tubeview888 Thanks! I didn't think so either, but it's hard to evaluate ourselves :)

  • @classicalheartburn haha! it really is torture. :)

  • that looks so damn good. i really need to get me an Excaliber dehydrator already.

  • @Riiyona Thank you! I need to start using mine again. I haven't in a long time. Get the small one. I got the 9 tray and it's just too big.

  • lol. the video isn't perfect at all, especially the part where you're eating, but it is cute as hell :)

  • i love your accent ! Where do you come from ?

  • California. Spent some time in Indiana, which I guess is where I got a bit of a southern twang. Thanks for watching. :)

  • @peterfreshman haha! Thanks!

  • the chef looks more scrumptious than the burger :D

  • oh gosh, those burgers look good

  • Thanks so much and thanks for watching!

  • That looks so good, and healthy! I'm hot a raw foodist, but I'm a vegetarian and a health food nut :) I've definately been eating more raw foods after watching these types of videos.

  • Thank you very much. I think I will start making things like this again. I went to simpler foods for a long time and it's hard for me to get enough calories without adding some dense foods like this. They are really yummy too. Thanks for watching.

  • the sun dried tomatoes alone would cost a dollar...

  • not the ones I used and you barely need any. You can make your own with tomatoes from your garden for free, as well

  • Looks lovely. I gotta find me a girl who likes raw food, and is creative, because left to my own devices I just eat fruit, nuts (from packet) and lettuce leaves (straight off lettuce).

  • Sometimes simple is the best way to go. :) But having a hot raw girl friend never hurts either. :)

  • Your burger looks SO GOOD!!

  • Thank you. It really was!

  • I'm not a raw foodist as of yet, but I am thinking about it :-) What you made looks very good and fresh. Great job :-)

  • Thanks so much! Raw food is the best food I have ever had and I feel great even after I eat it. : D Thanks for watching!

  • YUMMMMM maybe you made like a bbq sauce, i want some!

  • it was really good and the spread was like bbq sauce. :)

  • Leave me alone...I'm eating (a-holes)...funny!

  • That's just mean. Do you feel better about yourself when you tear other people down? Why did you favorite this video? Do you favorite every video you hate? It's really easy to criticize people who take the time to put themselves out there. Instead of beating up on people for their videos, why not try making your own? No person is perfect. BTW, I don't make videos to entertain or educate you, personally, so whatever the content, either accept it or move along.

  • Found you while searching for a raw burger/pattie. Love your expressions. You're rawsome!

  • Thanks! And thanks for watching. :)

  • IT LOOKS ORGASMIC

  • ha! well, it was pretty darned awesome! I want more!

  • YEAH!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME SISTER!!!!! It's so powerful and beautiful that you are documenting your cleanses!!! Keep making these videos and they'll get better and better! Yeah! Thank you! It's so nice to see you doing this!

  • Thank you very much for your positive feedback and enthusiasm.

    :)

  • My eyes look like this because of my heritage. I have always looked this way, even way before I was raw. Obviously Tim has as well. It's genetic. Duh.

  • you're funny.... not.

  • I haven't noticed that at all. I think you're seeing what you want to. If you don't like the raw/vegan lifestyle, just say that. There's no need to make fun of someone's physical appearance.

  • I really like your food and it looks so great! Please don't stop doing the videos and don't worry about the stupid people who come to tear you down. You are doing great!

  • lisa,

    Thank you so much! :)

  • I don't think they were tearing her down.

durianrider was trying to lift her up. He's a raw fruitarian, and he's REALLY straght-forward, which is funny in his videos. BTW - Alexis recently went high-fruit, low fat like he suggested.

The meat guy was just tossing in his viewpoint.

  • what did I say it was?

  • Hi alexis, I think your video was pleasant and encouraging. I tried to go to your lentil garden taco video. It says it is no longer available.Did you know this?

  • the problem is that you are hungery 10 minutes after eating two burgers. Dat's why u needz the meat. put some meat in that belly of yours. For my organically grown meat, I hunted myself a black bear. That is good meat without the chemicals and hormones and antibiotics. Go Organic!. It is good.

  • you need more sleep. you need more fruit.you need more celery and lettuce. ditch the nuts and gourmet crap. that aint raw. food is not something we go to get feelings from. FOOD IS FUEL AND NOURISHMENT!

eat your fruit meal mono and go go go!

  • you rock! :D those look great. im curious about the astafactor. what exactly is it?

  • Thank you! Astafactor is astaxanthin. Wikipedia gives a nice definition. It's basically a carotenoid, which means it's an antioxidant. It's very powerful, gentle and natural. That reminds me, I slacked off on taking mine and my body has been aching. Thanks for reminding me to take it again!

  • Thank you so much for the information! ill look into it. :)

  • OMG.....Yum...why haven't I seen this sooner??

  • The better question is why haven't i made them since?

  • I love colorful food that looks good and those burgers look good. Good job at taking a bite! I would have spilled it! lol! Thank you for sharing.

  • lol i luff how ur all happyy and stuffs^^

  • Wow! That really looks good. I'm a Vegan and I trying to go raw, at least for a while.

  • They were really yummy. I want to make them again. Thank you for watching. :)

  • what degrees in the dehydrator did you set the patties?

  • I usually start it off a bit high for thick foods like patties, say 125' for the first hour or so. The air gets hot, but the temp of the patties stays below 118'. I have a probe I can insert in food to test the temp of the food itself. After the initial higher heat, I turn it down to 120' or lower, depending on how impatient I am. If I do it overnight, I even go as low as 95' so they don't dry out too much. I have only made them once. The key is to keep the temp of the food below 118' f

  • yum-oooooo!!!

  • they are so good! I need to get some more lentils!

  • O.K., that's it..I am totally hooked on your videos!!

  • haha! Thank you very much for watching. I do that too. I spend hours watching all of one person's videos, then I want them to hurry up and make more. :D

  • Seeing you so spiked from your hike is inspiring and the food looks so delicious! I'm making some kind of burger today!

  • Thank you so much. I bet your burgers will be wonderful. I sent someone a link to your ice-cream video last night.

  • I have that salt...its soooooo good and surprisingly sweet...the burgers look amazing

  • Thank you very much. I used to loathe salt, but natural salt is very good, and healthy too. :)

  • Alexis, MAN oh MAN did that look GOOOOOOD!

It made my heart happy to see you so lifted and happy! You are indeed THRIVING my friend!! God BLESS you even more! xoxo - Angel

  • Angel,

Thank you so much. I have been doing much better now, although I have discovered that after a long hike, I come down off my exercise high and crash with depression and exhaustion. I think I need to shorten my hikes or bring down the intensity.

  • OK that does it, you are featured on my blog as a guest speaker! That's just plain genius!

  • wooooo! thank you! I feel fancy now. *does a happy dance* (don't watch)

  • You're totally making me salivate!!! I'm going to have to try those, yummm!

  • I hope you do. they are so crazy freaking good. I am really looking forward to more fro lunch today. i hope you enjoy yours.

  • that looks great!

  • thanks. It was great. I have had three already today. :)

  • Alexis, I just want to say I really enjoy watching your videos and you are my raw inspiration! Keep up the great work girlie!

I did also want to ask you: In your taco/burger video you mention a 'green veg'? I think it was something to keep veggies fresh longer...Can you let me know what that is and where I may be able to find one,

    Thanks!

  • Thanks! Greenbags! They are excellent for storing produce for a long time.
