  • @HeyThatsMike Thanks for the reply :)

  • When editing, what program do you use?

  • @itdoll328 Corel VideoStudio Pro X4

  • Can this camera pause when shooting a video?

  • @itdoll328 I don't think so no.

  • I can't get how to edit videos for upload to youtube cause it wont go to moviemaker.

  • @77deerose I've not used moviemaker so I can't help much there. You can try the YouTube editor or buy a good editing program.

  • @77deerose Ok, thanks for replying.

  • Thanks for the video so much. I was contemplating the 100 or the 500 with my only worry being the mono track on the 100 but after watching this video it sounds pretty darn good, especially in comparison to your flip. My decision has been made, the 100 it is.

  • @erasured I love the camera, we have used it every day for almost a year now. You can get a great deal on them on Amazon. Be sure if you want to shoot video to get a Class 6 or higher memory card.

  • Very helpful!!!

  • How did you figure out to make your image stay focus to what's right infront? What steps did take to manually setup your canon power shoot 100 HS

  • @mixddime702 Manual settings, Menu - AF Frame: Center - AF Frame Size: Normal - AF Point Zoom: Off - Servo: Off. On top switch to manual when shooting video and Auto when taking pictures.

  • does this camera auto focus when you film? is there any way you can make it to? i have this camera and it won't auto focus when i film :( & if it doesn't should i get the 300 HS? does that one auto focus when you film?

  • @MelonKneeVan It does not auto focus like an SLR. It will change focus on it's own but really doesn't work very good. I'm not sure if the 300HS does that. I have to stop, refocus, and record again if I need to zoom, then edit it together.

  • how do u make it so clear did u edit it? and exellent video!

  • @zweg2256 I don't do anything special. Make sure I use focus and the camera does the rest.

  • @EP2179 Just shoot video! You need to be up high shooting down on moving things to make it look like it's toys or something. I never got it to work right.

  • @EP2179 There is a setting in Program mode to change it. It really only works if you are shooting down on a city or something. I only briefly played with it.

  • @EP2179 hmm that I don't know. Sounds like thats the reason though.

  • @EP2179 I just use the natural format the camera records in which is .mov I edit in Corel VideoStudio Pro which then creates a .mpg file for YouTube. I don't know about MovieMaker. It does have image stabilizer but it's only so great.

  • Hi! great video, very helpful! What's the longest you can record with a class 10 memory card? Any specific brands to recommand? I so wanna buy this camera! The only thing is that I travel a lot and I often happen to record up till 6 or 7 videos a day (10 to 15 mins average length)... so don't know if I'm gonna be able to do that using this camera... I'll be so thankful if you could share some info about that =)

  • @angelsafa I'm not quite sure, I have a Class 6 and the camera only records 10 min straight which I think no matter what that's all the camera will record straight. If your looking to see how much video can be recorded on a card, I have an 8gb and you can record about 45min total video before filling it up.

  • @HeyThatsMike Oh ok! I hear what you're saying =) The one I have is a 32GB Class 10 SD Card, but I guess I'll have to buy the camera to test it out, hehe =) Thanks a lot man!

  • @angelsafa With a 32gb you should get about 3 hours worth of video on it (in 720p mode, about half that in 1080p mode) Any other questions let me know.

  • @HeyThatsMike Oh really?!!! Awesome! Thank you so much for helping me out! I think I'm getting the camera next week! Keep those great vids coming =)

  • @EP2179 Func Set, scan down to bottom of list (you'll see numbers to the right) set it to 1280 (1280x720)

  • @EP2179 It's not the camera or the card, it's the computer. I sent u a message.

  • @HeyThatsMike Hi, can you share? I have the same issue and with a class 10 sdhc

  • @gkyahoo Video skips?

  • @HeyThatsMike Yes, I think it has to do between the laptop I am using, windows vista and the VLC media player, I converted one video to avi, at 1024, and the video works ok

  • just bought 1 today blue : o ) it was $209 on sell for $139

  • @sonoftaz Good deal, Amazon did have it for $110 last I checked. Awesome camera. Need any help let me know. If you want to shoot video make sure your memory card is a Class 6 or higher.

  • @EP2179 I shoot video on manual and pics on both manual and auto.

  • soo about the memory card. i want to take really clear and nice pictures. video doesnt matter much to me. so if i want the best possible pictures, i take it i have to get the highest class memory card? and you said yours is class 6 right?

  • @crow5423 Nope the Class refers to how fast the card records data. For video you need a Class 6 or higher to record data properly. If ALL you want to do is take pictures a Class 4 will work fine, plus they are cheaper.

  • If I go to like, best buy or something, with it say "class six" on the memory card package?! I'm kind of a noob, so I wouldn't really know how to find that haha. And how much is the memory card?

  • @BreannaLeeB If you look at the memory card itself it will have a number 2,4,6,8 or 10 on it or on the packaging. If you buy a 8GB Class 6 it should cost about 30-40$ and will record about 45 minutes in 720p and you can always but more cards or a bigger if you need more space.

  • I'm a bit biased as I too own the Canon 100 HS...but the sound and the video quality IMO are a bit better than the Flip.

  • @bossxii It's way better other then it's easier to hold a Flip when shooting video then the 100HS

  • I subbed ! ;) By the way, what setting do you use on your canon hs 100 to record?

  • @shully56 You mean to record video? Here is what I use: Turn top button to the left OFF of auto setting (next to power button), Menu>AF Frame - Center, AF Frame Size - Normal, AF Point Zoom - Off. Shoot in 720p (1280x720) no reason to use 1080p.

  • @HeyThatsMike Thank you! If I have any more questions I will just leave a comment or send you a private message! I love taking pictures and I have a flip but I never knew how good the video quality was on the Canon. Thanks again Mike!

  • excellent review.

  • What would you rate this Camera out of 10?

  • @mariokart468 For it's price point, I'd give it a 8.5 it's a great camera for both video and picture but still room for improvement.

  • @MrRainbowNinjas one of our best comments ever!

  • I'm really digging this camera, and you can really tell the difference--especially just the sound--between this and the flip.

And thanks for the tips regarding the card, etc. And regarding your minor critique about holding the Canon (not as comfortable) for self photography. I wonder if you can just screw in a small tripod, keep it collapsed and use it as a handle.

  • @VideoMenu Yea you could use a mini tripod to use as a handle I don't just cause I usually have to throw it in my pocket and go.

  • i m thinking 2 buy this camera what is ur suggestion is it better or not? can i find any cam better than this in this price range?plz reply

  • @tejuvenky123 I love our camera the 100HS. You can get it for around $180. Does great video and pictures, you can't do pictures with a Flip. Make sure you get a memory card that is Class 6 or higher for video.

  • @HeyThatsMike thanku sir i am more intersted in picture quality only i need sharp images which are realistic i think i can get frm this camera

  • can you zoom while recording video?

  • @Lostzilla847 nope you have to zoom first then hit record. I believe the 300HS can zoom when recording.

  • Hey how much memory do you have on your sd card because I only have 4gb. 720p gives me about 22 minutes, while 1080p only gives me around 16 minutes.

  • @williamk766 Yea I have an 8gb and get 44min of video on 720p. Honestly if all your doing is using it to upload video to YouTube 720p is all you need. Plus editing 1080p can be a big hassle if you don't have a powerful computer.

  • Great footage. How's it do in low lit areas?? Video and pic wise

  • @jessecon5 it does pretty good in low lit, we vlog with little light sometimes and it's passable. Pictures is no problem, does a great job both with and without flash.

  • How do you turn it over so quickly? That's amazing.

  • @enriqueflimberger How do I turn what over so quickly?

  • @HeyThatsMike The camera, hehe. When your wife turns the cam over from filming herself she's so fast and precise at pointing.

  • @enriqueflimberger OHHHH haha yea we get LOTS of practice doing it. We are pro's now!

  • I just got the ELPH 100 yesterday, and I love the photos. I'm frustrated with the video process, though. I have an older computer (4 yrs, Vista) and I can't watch the videos on my computer. I have to transfer the files and convert them (is that always necessary?) , which takes about 5 minutes for a video that's less than one minute long. Then, the only way I can watch the videos is by uploading them to youtube. Am I missing something? My SDHC memory card is a 4 GB for Full HD video.

  • @hback316 What are you shooting in 1080p or 720p. Honestly for YouTube all you need to shoot in is 720. That could be the problem. You should have no problem watching the videos on your computer. I have a computer that's 7 years old that I can watch it on and it's XP. Now if you are editing the videos you may have a problem. Your card sound like it's ok, what Class is it?

  • @HeyThatsMike Thanks for the response. I did switch to 720p, and the video comes out a bit better on my computer (played from the hard drive) but still not 100% smooth. Oddly enough, I was able to play the videos just fine from my external hard drive, so maybe it's a problem with my computer's processing speed...not quite sure. But lately I haven't been converting the files, and they upload to youtube just fine, so I'm a bit happier now. :-)

  • thank you very much for this review... is exactly what i was looking for... i willl buy it tomorrow.... :)

  • i bought this camera earlier this week, mann do i love it! and its my first camera haha CHOICE! anyway, i can zoom while recording i do it all the time. My only con with this camera is the software that comes with it. It takes a LOOoonng time just to get a 3min vid uploaded. I wonder why.. If theres a faster way plz some1 tell me. I wish i can hook my camera in and take the vids off and send them str8 to my editor =] The pics get imported quickly...

  • The Elph 100 HS is way better quality image and video than the Flip. To solve your issue of holding the Elph100HS, you should consider one of those small handle grips that fit in the tripod hole. One of them is the CamGrip. You can find them on eBay.

  • how is the battery life?

  • @rosetintworld It's awesome! I vlog every day and only have to charge once or twice a week. Really shocked how good it is.

  • Thanx for the info on the camera, i played with this one the other day and couldnt get it to zoom manually while recording. Can it zoom while recording manually? Your wife was moving the camera around alot in kinda low light but video still looks great. Seems to have great stabilization! still kinda curious about the focus issue, thanx!

  • @spikes910 It won't zoom after you've started recording. You have to zoom first then record. For the price it does a really good job even though a few things could be better like the zoom. Does a good job on the right setting adjusting the lighting conditions. Focus is a bit of a hassle too. I set the camera to manual (slide button on top to left) and change setting in menu to AF Frame (Center) AF Frame Size (Normal) this helps a ton. Take pictures on Auto setting.

  • @HeyThatsMike Thanx for the reply, thats what i thought i just wanted to confirm it with somebody that actually had one. I just bought a Sony cyber-shot H70 with 10x zoom and it takes great pics and video but you can hear the motor zooming in/out in video playback. Zoom Is not a priority for me but would like to have the option, thanx again!

  • @HeyThatsMike Yes, you can zoom in while recording, if it doesn't let you, the problem might be your zoom settings, i have this camera and i am able to zoom in, maybe in your settings, your digital zoom iis only set to off, you might might want to put digital zoom and standard.

  • you can really tell a BIG difference in the audio quality. Thanks I want to buy this cam. and this helped!

  • @EthanHarvey2 The audio is amazing for a little camera. Holly was in the other room vlogging and it picked up the sound of me crunching on chips!

  • man good video it helpd a lot!! now Inow a little more about this camera thaks!!!

  • @lesukah707 No problem, any questions let me know. Love it!

  • how did u "shut off" the auto focus you speak of? I just bought this camera and that is driving me nuts! thanks!

  • @TheMuskwa007 Switch it OFF Auto, the button on top, switch to left, go into Menu and your AF Frame setting use Center. This help a ton even thought sometimes you still might get a focus problem. To take pictures I switch back to auto, for video I use those settings.

  • I Have The Kodak Zi10! :D

  • @AllMelina Not a bad camera either!

  • I got the 300 too, wondering if I should return it for the 100.

  • I got the 300 too, wondering if I should return it for the 100.

  • @Kahlon03 I'm not sure what you really get with the 300 that you don't on the 100. I have to say ours is fine, not missing anything.

  • Yup it'll be here tomorrow morning

  • Nice video! Love your dog! Have fun with your new camera. I bought one today. It will come ups tomorrow

  • @Bugalu67 Thanks! Did you get one like our Canon camera? I love it!

  • Nice camera but i gotten the Canon Elph 300HS red reason for this model was able to zoom while recording video great Vlog Mike

  • @ScottJamesLewisNJ The 100HS can zoom while recording. I thought about getting the 300 but have to say I'm happy with the 100. Thanks for watching!

  • @HeyThatsMike Thats great glad yous are happy keep up the great vlogs

  • lucky charms used to be sooo good! They got discontinued in the UK because of the sugar content!!!! Good to see your keeping up the vlogs love the new camera

  • @helloimcow Hey good to see a comment from you! Yea really happy with the new camera!

  • I hate mosquitos.

I like the picture quality of this camera. Alexis and I are looking for a camera and I'm thinking this would be perfect.

I didn't catch the name of the camera. Could you tell me what it is so I could get a good look at it online please? Thanks.

Wow. Quarantine has made you restless Holly. :D

Oh no. Marshmallow Pebbles? Looks like I'm going to go buy a box. :D

It was cloudy here the night of the Supermoon.

  • I really like the new camera now you got me thinking......

  • @liljack8421 Think about it, better lens, better zoom, takes pictures AND vlogs. Oh an ALL the different settings!

  • That is indeed and awesome camera. I have always been happy with Canon products! Just got me a new one as well.

  • @stinkerflat1 Yea Canon knows what they are doing. What the heck was I thinking buying a Samsung first.

  • Thumbs up 4 the new camera!~

  • @HoneymoonCampers We are happy with it, thanks!

  • Glad yall got the camera's fixed tho :D The new camera looks pretty good :P

The flip is darker and way closer Just noticed that. hmmmm.

Poor Holly getting stuck in the house again :( and i thought our radiation here was bad. lol (its just.1% Xenon 133 from Japan, not enough to hurt ya) Poor thing :(

The bathroom looked AWESOME! Great job :D

Oooh cereal looks good, the cupcake pebbles tasted just like cake.

I was gunna do that to my coffee actually, but i didnt XD i was too shy. lol

  • @hospitalcakewalk We are happy with it so far. She is tired of being stuck at home, so she cleaned! The cereal was horrible! She said the coffee was pretty good.

  • Don't let those vampire sucking mosquitoes get you.Cannon looks good. Why was Holly quarantined?

  • @DearestBecky The Mosquitoes are horrible here! We are happy with the Canon so far. Holly was on Radiation/Radioactive.

  • Hands down to the canon. I like the flip, but there are definitely some things it needs to improve on. Quality, capabilities, ect.

  • @caboose41 The FLIPS are great, but they are pretty cheaply made, this one seems to be a great quality. Thanks

  • the canons are nice! we have a flip and a canon powershotSD 1400 :) i actually prefer vlogging with the cannon its easier to hold lol. cool vlog :D

  • @theducksgonewildshow We are really liking this new camera! We will still use the FLIP too :) Thanks

  • Really nice camera, we will be switching from the flip soon. Well we will keep it, but I really like how this video came out.. Great vlog guys, thumbs up.

  • @NewAgeVideos We are still going to use the FLIP, its nice to have more than one camera, and have one that takes photos. Thanks!

  • Nice I like the new camera! I got a new camera too I'll be making more videos soon, My mom always used to steal my chocolate milk and put it in her coffee, I could eat cereal 24/7

  • @MJG164 We are liking this camera, Holly told me you got a new camera and that the quality was really good on it, can't wait to see more videos from you. I love cereal too!

  • Love the quality of the new camera...can you give me the exact one (is it PowerShot SD3500 IS?) There are a million varieties. Where did you get it from? Thanks keep up the great vloggin! :)

  • @mpicturframe We had to buy it online because its new and not available yet. Its the Canon Powershot Elph 100HS. Thanks for watching!

  • Actually I like the flip camera quality better. How was the cereal? You created a new coffee flavor maybe.

  • @susankim51 We still plan to use the FLIP a lot too. The cereal was horrible! Holly was bummed, but at least her coffee was good!

  • I bought a Canon powershot sd 1100 which had an avi format. The 1400 was mov format and I was having trouble with editing problem. Got my Canon on ebay and love it for the cheap price I paid for it. Still playing around learning things.

  • @garywittmann It does take a lot of learning, but so far we are happy with it!

  • LOVE canons!! That's all I have to say. =0 LOVE them!! Picture quality, video, sound, ease of use ... love them -- and they are quite sturdy -- they survive our family, which is saying a lot!! =0

  • @kelloggshow We need something good, and sturdy! So far we really like it, thanks!

  • CANON FTW :D .. where is eddie :( .. love ya mike! -adel.

  • @Qalb999 We are really liking this camera, was Eddie not in the vlog? hmm...

  • @Qalb999 oh sorry i saw it ^^" maybe yesterday when eddie come on the vlog i change the page to twitter and eddie come and i don't see it!! =="

  • I love new cameras. yay for you!!

  • @TaTeRoxx So far we really like this one!

  • @billyCtv Yeah so far we are really happy with it!

  • My camera runs on the memory cards. They're expensive! We bought mine cheap online. I like the colour on it. The Canon was brighter than the Flip. I do like the Powershot better.

That does look like a pretty good cereal.

    Holly made a Mocha. :D

  • @TheMomof6boys We aren't too sure about the card thing, but so far it isn't an issue and we really like the camera! The cereal was gross! lol, but we usually like marshmallow cereal. Yeah she did, and she says it was good!

  • Cool vlog as always!!!

  • @bigd9178 thanks!

  • Sweet! I ordered the 300HS had for one day then had to return it to be replaced since it was damaged. Got to only play with it a few hours but fell in love again! lol

Looks good. excited to get back to videoing once again!

It is a huge step up from the Flip! Another great thing about Canon's is the great Macro setting! Some of the toy, black and white, and other pic fun modes!

  • @FamilyManDano This one has a lot of cool features, we have been playing with it and getting to know it and we really like it!

  • yeah that Elph 100HS cam is for sale on ebay for as little as $149.00 and you should be able to use a class 4 card in that still, I can shoot 1080P on my Canon T2i and i only have a class 4 16gb sd card the one i am the MOST impressed with out of the point & shoot cameras is the Nikon S8100 that one is $249.00 but it's 12 MP and does 1080 also but the audio and video is SUPER crisp on that one. it's a little widerthan the elph100 though which DSLR do you have?

  • @daddytech We don't have a DSLR, but we would like to one day. We have just a Sony that Holly has had for years, it is big and bulky and used to be a good camera. So far we are really happy with this one, it just took playing with the settings and figuring it all out.

  • @HeyThatsMikeit's a Canon so you can't go far wrong with that but the 1080P video isn't going to do well unless you upload it straight to you tube in full 1080 and even then it might be grainy I was trying that with my Canon T2i (DSLR) when i first started recording video with it too full 1080 @ 60FPS and everything was grainy and rolling shutter issues the whole 9 but part of the problem was it was too much for youtube, the other part was how it was compressed. you see my TN capitol video yet?

  • mosquitoes are vampires day form lol. tech high five its like christmas for yo lol. n great great review honestly. love you name tags you still have hangn in your kitchen hey its mike n hey its holly. i couldnt even see the moon bummer it was soo stormy here.

  • @JustifiedThoughts Mosquitoes are horrible! We are loving this camera! Yeah we stuck them there and never took them down :) Luckily we could see it, but it was just a full moon to us!

  • The Canon image looks pretty good the zoom quality is very important on a vid camera. I vote for the Canon. Good job cleaning the bathroom Holly it is a huge job. Marshmallows in a breakfast cereal how odd.

  • @cheekychickenhead We are really happy with this camera so far! Holly did do a good job, if only it would stay that way! We love marshmallow cereal, but this kind was gross!

  • Cannon for sure

  • @KiraMercer Yeah we are really happy with it!

  • Wow.. this is great! Love the new camera. Is the audio also being recorded on your new Canon or are you using something else to record the audio?

  • @ourlittleplanet We really like this camera! The audio is from the camera, no adjustments, so we are pleasantly surprised but it did take playing with the settings to get it all right.

  • i love the mics on the flip. Does the canon compress sound?

  • I think it's up to you I just never got in to the flip.

  • @Rickco3 The FLIP is really cheaply made, but it has served us well and we will still use it :)

  • I like the new camera Mike, you can really see the difference! Good to see your getting around ok Holly, I was worried u might have a hint of glowage on todays vlog,lol...wow, i love my coffee, but have never tried choc. milk in it before, always plain milk, but now u really have me curious to try it out! i remember loving Count Chocula and Boo Berry many years ago, lol.Alex's new cereal looks good! You will have to let me know what u thought of it. Its funny,i only like cereal @nite for a snack!

  • @boondoggle1000 We are really happy with the new camera! No glowing :( Holly usually uses reg milk, but we were out and she said the chocolate was pretty good! The cereal was horrible, even Alex won't eat it!!!

  • see you at PLL!!! :) oh and the quality of the new camera is way better... I was considering going that route as well...

  • @jhouse0970 We are really liking this new camera, thanks!

  • see you at PLL!!! :)

  • @jhouse0970 See you there!

  • No comparison. The Flip is an entry level play camera, that doesn't even pretend to be serious. The Canon has real lenses and quality image sensors. The focus, crispness, contrast, and overall image quality were vastly better, just in the brief test. Sound quality is also dramatically better.

When I got my Canon (an HG 21) a year and a half ago, I retired the Flip, and eventually gave it to some needy friends. I just had no more use for it. You'll soon get past the learning curve and love it.

  • @anmoose We are really happy with the camera so far, it is great! agreed, FLIP is a cheap camera, it has served us well and we will still use it, but it is made cheap. Thanks!

  • Wow, for a little camera it takes awesome quality footage! I wish we had the range of cereal that you guys do .. you've got some crazy flavours!! :D

  • @karmagirl74 We are really happy with it so far! We have so many cereal choices, its crazy!

  • Yes the quality is good....but the flip was good also........why cant you just add a small uni-pod to hold on too? O

  • @rangatang0624 We are really happy with this and will still use the FLIP too. We have some of those, but we like to be able to slip it into our pocket :)

  • what i think is that flip needs to make a canon quality cam

  • @akarene We agree, but the FLIP hasn't changed over the years, they have to keep them cheap :)

  • I think that the interesting thing is that the sound is much better too. Yeh, the picture and the sound are considerably better.

  • @Imragnar1 We are really happy with it overall so far, thanks!

  • the new camera looks nice!

  • @supersmithify Thanks, we are happy so far!

  • I have a Canon too.....it is not user friendly but it is a good camera

  • @LisaJMoore It took some figuring out, but I think we got it now and we really like it!

  • Love new cam! I think the picture is better. They have like hand tripods you can use which is nice.

  • @mommy2logan112604 So far we really like it! We have a few of those hand tripods, but we like to be able to slip the camera into our pocket :)

  • I like your new camera best. I learned about the different classes of sd cards when our Christmas video looked like a terrible stop motion movie. Then I read in the manual about using a class 6 or higher like you were talking about. My learning curve is bigger than yours. ;D
