what they didn't show was that roger and bootsy were friends and that they made a promise to one another that whoever made it big first would reach out to the other and bootsy stayed true to his word
Steve Wonder, Peter Frampton, and Johnny "Guitar" Watson used the talk box before Roger, BUT No one has used it as an Frontground device like Roger. He was the master of it.

@SMOKING5STRINGI totally agree with you. I´m german and if I would say anything about jewish i will be arrested and have to go to court.
I grew up with Zapp and Roger and I still have most of his records. My son is 19 and he loves that sound. ZAPP and Roger made music history. RIP Roger. Your music will stay in our hearts and SPEAKERS.
@klaus150365 Only my fellow Americans are too stupid to see the real hane of the Jew.They worship Jews and anything Jewish.America and the world is going to hell because of them. They may control the music industry but they have not stolen your mind.Know your enemy and you will always be guided.Long live Roger and Zapp.
man, these are FANTASTIC. I Have been watching all of your unsung uploads this week and they are just amazing. Would love to see the Sylvester and Debarge one if you have it!!!
@cellmate1 I can agree to a degree, to me, "Run Away Child", "Shaky Ground", "Papa Was A Rollin Stone", "Bare Back" had some funk in them. Yes it was plenty R&B and Soul, but there are elements of (Sophisticated) funk in there.
Slave also came from Ohio. Great bass and guitar licks. Sadly both the bass player and lead guitarist passed away recently. File under Sexy Funk along with The Ohio Players?
im from dayton ohio ... I was there when all this shit when down ........ i stay 3 streets over from where they was killed ... salem ave" and five oaks " .... WE MISS U ALOT !!!
i love the use of his talkbox he is really inspring me in my music i cant wait itl i get my talkbox i need to upgrade my keyboard i got a casio not to many people using talkbox everybody on dat whack autotune. i hope i can be the first to bring it back.
At his concerts you were on your feet from the time the first song was played. One of the best shows I ever seened. Roger would say "If yall dont make some noise, imma take all my clothes off" lol. He didnt have to take them off.
Roger Troutman - So innovative, so talented and left this earth far too early. If there's one musician who's innovation has been missed amidst the musical mediocrity that we are subjected to on the airwaves today, it is Roger Troutman. Roger, thank you for your musical energy and legacy. May you rest in eternal peace.
love love love their music.... I pray to God their family can get pass a tragic tragic ending..... still glad the group is together... n God can only judge wh hppnd that faithful day......

The way I see funk is this:
James Brown-Traditional/Clean/Family Funk
Sly & The Family Stone-Educated/Intellectual Funk
The Temptations- Sophisticated Funk (with Norman Withfield)
Parliament/Funkadelic/Bootsy's Rubber Band-Nasty/No Shower/No Deoderant/Stank Foot/Dirty Funk.
Ohio Players-Sexy Funk
Zapp& Roger-Electronic Funk
Let me know If I missed anyone.

@Macaroni10 I think ConfunkShun, Lakeside, and The Isley Brothers would be under sophisticated funk cause all of them did sweet ballads too.

@brownsugar1979 I agree with that. They were funky, yet smooth.
