@MyGamer125 Hehe : ) And you should also know that this is one of the largest Organs in the world! That big pipe directly in front of him has a diameter of 64 inches!!! One of the few in the world that has it.. And that makes it one of the most perfect Organs to play Bach on! : ) 64 inches.. That's nearly 164 cm if you use metric. But as you live in the US, I'm fairly sure you use imperial : ) It's just... Amazing...
And yes, I have no time for posting videos, maybe during the infamous Chinese New Year I will post some about Minecraft, that is, if I can find recording material. Fran's drops my fps too much. So I would like to try Hypercam.

I'll be waiting till 2013 for your video. Good day to you, sir.
Pipe organs like this one are probably some of the most expensive instruments money can buy. The sound of organs always give me chills, especially while playing this.
OMG look at that masterpiece of an organ. And this is the Town Hall? I'm afraid to think of what their cathedrals are like! Forget the opera house, I Seriously missed something when visiting Sydney!
oh god.... 1989 in some lame top 40 disco somewhere in ft lauderdale.. sitting on a bar stool waiting to leave when this track comes on... the whole fucking club explodes into a wild orgy of bodies jumping and dancing madly... four minutes of strobe lights flashing, lights spinning, lasers, speakers thumping, people dancing on speakers, on the bar, in the hallways... then it all ended, just like it began...
I think Bach was just as good a composer as his succesors of different eras (Mozart and Beethoven). He was more humble than them both- in the Patronage system, whereas Mozart called people charlatans and Beethoven was just a big-head! (No offense, he was a really good composer. But there's no denying his quote, "There will only be one Beethoven.")
Bach wrote more religious music, which I believe is underrated. You can still use reason and have a religion, darn it! Why can't people get that?
The funny thing about this piece is that Bach actually never intended the piece to be heard, he wrote it as a practice piece originally and it was only later that he realized how awesome of a piece it was.
@Kuckooracha The fugue has Bach's style all over it, I seriously doubt anyone else wrote it or would have even been capable of writing it. How many fugues have you ever heard written by someone other than Bach? The few that exist from other composers don't have the same complexity and sheer genius. Bach was miles ahead of any composer alive during his own time, and the great composers who came along afterwards focused on other styles of music.
@pyronaught wiki/Toccata_and_Fugue_in_D_minor,_BWV_565#Attribution You can see the controversy here!
Also, the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony is nothing but a gigantic fugue, so yeah, we've seen more complex fugues even though it's rare... and the exercise is not that rare, from the Well tempered clavier to Pachelbel, there are plenty of fugues through history. This piece will, however, always be Bach's for me, just to clear things out.
@Kuckooracha I think the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 9th isn't a fugue though. It does have some back-and-forth counterpoint in the opening theme that is similar to a fugue, but doesn't go on to have the even paced layering and theme reappearances that a real fugue has. Beethoven did write some real fugues that are similar to Bach's style though, such as the Diabelli variations number 24 and 32. That's about as close as I've ever seen any other composer get to Bach's fugue style.
@Kuckooracha I do agree the Toccata and Fugue discussed here does have the feel of an exercise when played however, to the extent that it would seem it was intended as such.
The beginning......this is where Dracula is supposed to grab your neck from behind you and laugh an evil, menacing laugh that put you in a cold sweat as you grimace from his 3-octaves-too-high laugh while thunder is heard; you only get a brief glance of him as the lightening flashes, exposing his jet black hair, death-white skin, red eyes and razor sharp fangs. I know this is a really bad example of a run-on sentence. I'm expressing my thoughts here.
@pyronaught the reason why this song is played a lot is because it demonstrates the power and voice of the registers...i myself play this peice...but i know what your sayin...it does get a bit old...lol
@ShortBusLO82 That's part of the reason. This is one piece (and maybe the only piece) that integrates scales and power chords and interweaves them. It also modulates them. There are soft reflective passages, and passages that would blow a hole through your walls. And I've known about 3 organists who have played this and none said that this ever got old. They said it "pulls you in" each time. So I don't know how it could get old with you...lol. But maybe it does, who am I to say?

As a child, Mozart learned/played Bach on the harpsichord. Of Bach, Beethoven said "he is the immortal god of harmony. And Wagner said "he is the most stupendous miracle in all music." Chopin and many other renowned musicians have commented about Bach in a like manner. I wonder if modern day bands/musicians realize that they owe almost everything to Bach, as he is truly the father of all Western/European music. PAY HOMAGE TO BACH.

It would take me my entire lifetime to learn how to play half of this song...it's so hard, the fast stuff is just based on scales and arpeggios, but still, it's ridiculous. It gives me the shivers to see someone play it...but I absolutely love this song, it's so beautiful!
Hmm, sounds just like the music in church. Can't they play anything more modern on these things? I hate these pieces where they just randomly play some notes. The hairs on my back should raise thanks to the music. I like this much more /watch?v=UQDhH8-z14Q
@GTASA911 Lol you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. These aren't just "random notes". If you saw the score of the music you would understand that it is VERY complex, with different structures of chords and melodies playing at the same time.
@GTASA911 Yes you must be total tool to insult Bach by simply not understanding his work of genius on this piece. Go back and play San Andreas where your feeble brain belongs!

It gives me the shivers to see someone play it...but I absolutely love this song, it's so beautiful!
ispeak4detrees 1 month ago
@ispeak4detrees actually as far as Bach's music goes, this is one of the easier fugues. You can slow it down a bit and it still sounds good too.

Hmm, sounds just like the music in church. Can't they play anything more modern on these things? I hate these pieces where they just randomly play some notes. The hairs on my back should raise thanks to the music. I like this much more /watch?v=UQDhH8-z14Q
GTASA911 1 month ago
@GTASA911 Lol you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. These aren't just "random notes". If you saw the score of the music you would understand that it is VERY complex, with different structures of chords and melodies playing at the same time.

@GTASA911 Modern?

@SqueezeMyLemonBabe Shaw! Justin Beiber!

@GTASA911 Yes you must be total tool to insult Bach by simply not understanding his work of genius on this piece. Go back and play San Andreas where your feeble brain belongs!
