Loved it - loved it to bits!! To the narrator - is this your layout? How old are you? You sound only barely old enough to have been a Deltic fan, let alone the great days of British Railways steam. Well done, very very well done!
Inspired but far far from copying, no faces on locos, not talking engines. The one reference was done as a joke. I'm good friends with the creator of BRWS, so wouldn't wish to copy him.
Man... nostalgia. Well, it's actually more like deja vu, but... I'm ranting. If you're wondering, my grandfather was a steam train driver in India. Guess who got the interest in my family? When I'm older, I'm going to create a series such as this. Hope you don't mind.
Still, it is one of my favorite videos to watch because it is so simply charming and wonderful and accurate. The layout looks lovely from what I've seen, and that's about it on visual aspects. I love your narration because it is so calm and relaxing, like how most narrators SHOULD be!
very good video. like a documentary (only on a smaller scale, and better) if only steam was still alive as much as it was back in the day. I'm from the U.S but love british railways.
Your layout and commentary are so good,it's almost like watching archive steam footage, especially the ones "on shed" with all the smoke,i had to do a double take because it looked so real! I'm a bit jealous really,i hope to have a layout like yours someday! Keep up the good work.
your film's are so great there just like them 16mm film's but model its great
one thing I think is that steam never went away because steam went but there was all of those last steam excretions and they went on and on then locos and railways were saved etc. so I don't think it ever went away
Firstly thank you for making the BEST model railway video i've ever seen and Secondly even though i was born way after the steam were taken away it brings a tear to my eye when i think of what they could be doing now. Third and finally 5*s for the vid and the model.
okay can't wait, I too, am creating a typical Nostalgic Station This but from the GWR as this is where i have grown up but it also has an LNER just because i couldn't resist having it and also BR and a BR Diesel but enough about me! hope your vid is a success:D
abasalutally fantastic old chap.....i was 4472s driver 4 4 years and kestrals 4 2 years then the a4 silverlink...... the best shame about the accident a year after i left silver link 2 work on the S&c line where i drove iron duke untill the end of steam when i retired...the oppertune moment i say i retired early but desils made me feel upset....these vid r great reminders of the good times
hi luke9620, thanks for you question. Eastcote Central is based on York. The reason i have not called it York is i felt to call it York I would have to model it exactly like the real place.
So Eastcote is my version of York, with how the sheds are opposite the station.
Yes, you're doing well.. :) :) And rightfully so.. Seeing these videos gives me the urge to go down and pick up a Hornby set.. but I just haven't got anywhere to put one right now.. :(
I may do a shout of your channel at some point, but no promises as I am quite busy with my son at the moment! Still, there's a light at the end of the tunnel there, and hopefully things will return to some sort of normality.. even if it never will go back to how things were, pre-illness.. This will be with us for the rest of his life now.. just hoping it'll be a very long one.. :)
Well, I know you didn't.. but I genuinly like your channel.. :) As for my son, he has about 5 or 6 lots of chemotherapy still, and then hopefully he will regain enough strength to get back up and walking properly again. He had surgery back in October, his left foot was amputated below the knee.. but he got his first (trial0 foot last week, and can walk shorter distances now, with the aid of crutches.. :) It's getting there slowly.. :)
Absolutely brilliant Tom, strangely enough, my Father's side of the family are from the North East, so I really can relate to this video. I must congratulate you on producing this masterpiece., and a definite 5* from me Bob.
No East Allerton is a fictional station, and is a mixture of Northallerton and Thirsk, that sort of area of the ECML.
locos running slowly, well my engines are all pretty new versions, i.e superdetailed locos which tend to run very smoothly. Especially the Hornby ones!
Great first episode! I loved the camera angles that you had, and I loved the way that you ended it. This was filled with lots of information. Nice job.

@Nictrain123 east allerton never existed in real life.
but if it did it would have nearly every week until it was withdrawn.
mainly because East Allerton (if in real life) would have been on the east coast main line.

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm really chuffed by your comments.
I too am too young to remember steam on BR, and one of my reasons for creating North Eastern Steam was so I could recreate that Nostalgic time.
Episode 3 is in production, should be out in 2 weeks or so. Stay tuned :-)
