  • What is the name of the intro and outro song made by Kevin MacLeod?

  • Did Flying Scotsman ever go through East Allerton?

  • @Nictrain123 east allerton never existed in real life.

but if it did it would have nearly every week until it was withdrawn.

mainly because East Allerton (if in real life) would have been on the east coast main line.

  • Is that tunnel on an incline?

  • amazing!

    love your work.

i learned quite alot about the north eastern region now.

  • @thatguywithredishair

Cheers for the kind comments, expect the next episode late February/early March :)

    Tom

  • Wow, this was very well made!

  • Simply brilliant.....

  • Loved it - loved it to bits!! To the narrator - is this your layout? How old are you? You sound only barely old enough to have been a Deltic fan, let alone the great days of British Railways steam. Well done, very very well done!

  • @hunterman0953

Very kind comments, much appreciated...sadly I was born a few years after the Deltics were retired!

Have a look through my videos, moving the series into HD so better quality camera work from 2011 :)

    Cheers

    Tom

  • your copying the brws

  • @MegaPikachu5

Inspired but far far from copying, no faces on locos, not talking engines. The one reference was done as a joke. I'm good friends with the creator of BRWS, so wouldn't wish to copy him.

  • @MegaPikachu5 - assuredly, not the case, though I have advised Tom on several occasions for the content of his series.

  • Man... nostalgia. Well, it's actually more like deja vu, but... I'm ranting. If you're wondering, my grandfather was a steam train driver in India. Guess who got the interest in my family? When I'm older, I'm going to create a series such as this. Hope you don't mind.

Yes, I really love my steam trains.

  • lol love the reference to the British railway series

  • great layout. tell me, did this area survive the beeching axe?

  • ohhh where do you get them from?

  • how do u do the sound affects?

  • @tommygrules4life

I add the sound effects later in editing

    Cheers

  • Still, after seeing it numerous times, the town of East Allerton still charms me and the video is a beautiful piece of work! Beautifully done!

  • @RandomPoseidon01

Many thanks for your kind comments :)

  • @DoctorTankEngine

Still, it is one of my favorite videos to watch because it is so simply charming and wonderful and accurate. The layout looks lovely from what I've seen, and that's about it on visual aspects. I love your narration because it is so calm and relaxing, like how most narrators SHOULD be!

  • very good video. like a documentary (only on a smaller scale, and better) if only steam was still alive as much as it was back in the day. I'm from the U.S but love british railways.

  • Your layout and commentary are so good,it's almost like watching archive steam footage, especially the ones "on shed" with all the smoke,i had to do a double take because it looked so real! I'm a bit jealous really,i hope to have a layout like yours someday! Keep up the good work.

  • Simply brilliant.

  • Excellent video! Thoroughly enjoyable; it would be very rude not to join the facebook site! - Mike

  • your film's are so great there just like them 16mm film's but model its great

one thing I think is that steam never went away because steam went but there was all of those last steam excretions and they went on and on then locos and railways were saved etc. so I don't think it ever went away

  • Firstly thank you for making the BEST model railway video i've ever seen and Secondly even though i was born way after the steam were taken away it brings a tear to my eye when i think of what they could be doing now. Third and finally 5*s for the vid and the model.

  • @TopGearFan09

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm really chuffed by your comments.

I too am too young to remember steam on BR, and one of my reasons for creating North Eastern Steam was so I could recreate that Nostalgic time.

Episode 3 is in production, should be out in 2 weeks or so. Stay tuned :-)

    Tom

  • okay can't wait, I too, am creating a typical Nostalgic Station This but from the GWR as this is where i have grown up but it also has an LNER just because i couldn't resist having it and also BR and a BR Diesel but enough about me! hope your vid is a success:D

    Andy

  • abasalutally fantastic old chap.....i was 4472s driver 4 4 years and kestrals 4 2 years then the a4 silverlink...... the best shame about the accident a year after i left silver link 2 work on the S&c line where i drove iron duke untill the end of steam when i retired...the oppertune moment i say i retired early but desils made me feel upset....these vid r great reminders of the good times

thank you very much keep the coming!

    james walker

  • which station s east coast centrl based on

  • @luke9620

hi luke9620, thanks for you question. Eastcote Central is based on York. The reason i have not called it York is i felt to call it York I would have to model it exactly like the real place.

So Eastcote is my version of York, with how the sheds are opposite the station.

    Hope this answers your question

  • Good video, very original, one question though, why is there a black and white photo of a princess coronation/duchess at the end?

  • Love the eye-level footage.. excellent.. :)

  • @BasicModelling

cheers bud... wait until you see Episode 3 ;-P

    50 5 stars!!! Very Happy!

  • Yes, you're doing well.. :) :) And rightfully so.. Seeing these videos gives me the urge to go down and pick up a Hornby set.. but I just haven't got anywhere to put one right now.. :(

  • @BasicModelling

cheers bud, im hoping to break the 500 sub mark by end of the month, have had about 30 more subs in the last week and half.

Just trying to get noticed I gues

Well I hope my videos can make up for you not having a layout mate

  • I may do a shout of your channel at some point, but no promises as I am quite busy with my son at the moment! Still, there's a light at the end of the tunnel there, and hopefully things will return to some sort of normality.. even if it never will go back to how things were, pre-illness.. This will be with us for the rest of his life now.. just hoping it'll be a very long one.. :)

  • @BasicModelling

That would be awesome if you did, although i wasn't mentioning it for that reason.

I'm sorry that your son is recovering from illness, Wil keep your family in my prayers bud.

    All the best

    Tom

  • Well, I know you didn't.. but I genuinly like your channel.. :) As for my son, he has about 5 or 6 lots of chemotherapy still, and then hopefully he will regain enough strength to get back up and walking properly again. He had surgery back in October, his left foot was amputated below the knee.. but he got his first (trial0 foot last week, and can walk shorter distances now, with the aid of crutches.. :) It's getting there slowly.. :)

  • His left leg, I mean.. but we call it the foot, as he has most of the leg left, as such.. :)

  • @BasicModelling

that must be really difficult for him and you. I really wish him a speedy recovery! :-)

Only words i know, but i mean that

  • We'll never get used to the situation, but have learnt to cope.. and make the best of it, in as much s that is possible.. :) Thank you.. :)

  • nice vid

  • Really cool episode. Great sound editing.

  • It was a pleasure to meet you today Tom. Very Good Video, I think the P-Way department need to have a look at the trackwork through the station.

Keep the videos coming, and no doubt we will catch up again at Grosmont Loco sometime in the future.

    Paul

  • cheers Paul

Good to meet you, and cheers for all the help and info. It's certainly all starting to make sense.

I'm down again on the 9th September

  • Great video again. 5*

  • cheers LMSStanier.

Episode 2 will be out the end of the month! :-)

  • At 08:53, the man in the left foreground is doing what, in real life, would be ilegal- standing on the white line while a train comes past!

    A pretty desperate train-spotter, I suppose!

  • some people will do anything to get that special picture! :-p

  • Yeah I guess your right!

  • Absolutely brilliant Tom, strangely enough, my Father's side of the family are from the North East, so I really can relate to this video. I must congratulate you on producing this masterpiece., and a definite 5* from me Bob.

  • Thanks very much Bob.

Glad you enjoyed it. Look out for Episode 2 coming end of next month.

And don't forget to subscribe! :-)

    Best

    Tom

  • I've cut back drastically on subscriptions Tom, but I will make an exception in your case for a while anyway :o)...Bob

  • Thanks Bob

I understand why though, I often find I have too many subs

I appreciate the support though. Hope to see you again for Episode 2 :o)

  • is east allerton a really station then??

    Brilliant Layout!!

    just one Q

how do you get your trains to run so dam smoothly when running slowly??

  • thanks for response bennymilk.

No East Allerton is a fictional station, and is a mixture of Northallerton and Thirsk, that sort of area of the ECML.

locos running slowly, well my engines are all pretty new versions, i.e superdetailed locos which tend to run very smoothly. Especially the Hornby ones!

  • Ah sorry steve, just realised, TYPO!!! lol

have you seen the new trailer for the next episode? ;-)

  • I must say, I enjoyed that! 5/5

  • thank you

  • Ony kidding! Great video Tom!

  • Come on Tom...in the note to the people of East Allerton it should be their not there...you have lostv my respect!

  • yeah the spelling mistake, I noticed that after I had uploaded! Doh

    Cheers matey

  • Marvellous film, sounds, narration.

    Made my Sunday morning!

I like the longer shots, those platelayers ought to work harder! Actually the undulations are quite real.

    Thanks, Rob

  • Thanks Simon

and I meant to say, I like the link between our series, hence I have made my video a response to yours like you did for me :-)

  • i fink u hit a winner

  • He means Herbert The V2 from the British Railway Series.

  • A very fantastic episode to start off this wonderful series!

I like the documentary-like approach to the series as oppose to the usual 'Thomas approach' seen in some other series.

Keep up the good work, DoctorTankEngine!
