i hate the super guide bullshit that nintendo has been pulling off in recent games. back in the old days, when you couldnt beat the level, YOU SIMPLY WERENT GOOD ENOUGH, try harder.
@DinerSals Actually, I do have the game, and I have played the special worlds. I've also collected every star coin. It's ridiculously easy, unless I just happen to be great at this game, which I don't think is the case. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's really fun, but I just wish it was longer and/or had more of a replay value other than little mini-challenges in those purple ? blocks you get from Streetpass.
WHAT? Now someone tells me! Can you get them after you beat the game? I'm annoyed. They should make you beat a CRAZY annoying secret level to get whatever that is.
This game is REDICULOUSLY easy. Seriously. By World 4 I had 30-40 lives, and I probably only died twice in that time. I found out about the Gold Leaf in World 8, mostly because I was busy watching a movie at the same time. I mean, they give you permanent invincibility though the level unless you touch lava or fall, and they give you a suit that allows you to fly/glide. What kind of retard can't beat a level in this simple game, especially with this God-Tool?
Oddly enough, I found my first P-Wing in one of those purple boxes on the world map... using it was a cheap thrill, though: I care more about setting good times on each stage, than completing each stage at this point (going for five glittering stars on my save file), and when you use the P-Wing, the game prohibits you from setting a "record time" on the level you use it in, unless you replay the level, and complete it normally.

@smartboy201 Still why would somebody wanna do that? As I said this game is very easy. If someone can't beat it without the P Wing he should simply stop playing platformers. I think it would have been better if it had whistles (but hide them well) because at least it gives you the satisfaction of finding something so secret. Using the P Wing will probably make you feel like a loser. I remember the time I found the first whistle in Mario 3 by complete accident. I was THRILLED!
@PSspecialist True, that said, there IS a second way someone can get a P Wing in this game: It occurs completely by luck, when you go into the "purple box" levels on the world maps. One you can get is a "Two-Coin" special level, where everything is glittery and the music's different. In it, the floor is littered with brown tanooki leaves, except one item in the bottom-right corner of the room, which is a P-Wing.
And secrets require a lot more programming than they did back then...
@PSspecialist All that said, I agree with you regarding the thrill of finding something hidden (except the first whistle... no one would ever duck down on a white block for multiple seconds by ACCIDENT. Heh... the whistle in the first "fortress" was pretty awesome to find by accident, though.), which is why I love the "special pipes" in Super Mario 3D Land... only 2 in the game, though, is a shame... and I STILL feel the need to go back to the previous worlds and complete them. :)

That was simply impossible to get without knowing. I wonder if there is even a single person in the whole planet that found it by accident. The chances are pretty slim.

@seirahime Actually a lot more is being added to this game and in reality this game only has small refrences to 3 ad this will be one of the most creative,stunning,good controlled, extremly difficult, amazing game of this decade.
Small references? Please every trailer its milking it has some imagery to Mario 3 going ""Look at me! I have 2D mario stuff that makes me just as good right?"". Except none of the power ups work like Mario 3. Can't fly with the tanooki suit, P wing takes you to the end of the map. So challenging.
Its just another 3D Mario. Nintendo should of made another 2D Mario instead. Since the last one sold 20 million...unlike any 3D Mario.

@Annoyboy Didn't you play galaxy? It's a game for everyone, but it has quite a few stages that are REALLY difficult. It's no dark souls, but still it's harder than most modern games out there.
@mariosunshinerules22 So we help little kids play by teaching them all they need to do to complete something is give up untill you get an item that does it for you? Part of what made the original marios great was determination to complete the game, It taught timing and the ability to react quicker. Thats what kids need in my opinion.
