@Henson101024 The term Style Sheet is at first, misleading. But I refer to a style sheet as an External Style Sheet. Basically, we use CSS - cascading style sheets - to control the appearance of our web pages. In other words, we design web pages with CSS. We create Styles that target a particular section of the page. We store those styles on the Style Sheet. The External Style Sheet can then be linked to all pages so that Styles are re-usable. Make em once, use indefinitely.
@GreenNerd420 I have kept the videos short for a reason.... most of these videos are also on my DVDs that I sell. It's easier for the student to go back to a certain video and find something in particular when the video is short. And sometimes, less is just better. Still, I hope you find value in my videos. Most beginners do!!
@noway191 highlight the text that you want to make a hyperlink from. Then right click and you should see hyperlink properties, click on that and follow the prompts.
@1treehillfan08 A CSS image will repeat itself by default. To stop the repeating, choose no-repeat. This is one possible value of the "background-repeat" property.
To make an image full screen, I suggest making the image the size you want it to be prior to inserting it into your web page. Then insert it.
@1treehillfan08 There is also a jquery plugin called "supersize" that will make the background image expand or shrink without losing quality. Just Google supersize jquery plugin.
@absolutehail No, there is no one feature that makes EW better than Dreameaver. SuperPreview does come close. But I really think the main differences between the two are price and the number of features. Dreamweaver is feature overload. So for beginners, EW is the preferred. I also like DW for php projects. I recommend EW for Beginners or anyone that cannot afford DW. Actually, I own both and typically use EW. Go figure.
@icyshadow0 Great question. I will tell you that right now I am almost finished making my first user login system which I am going to use for all of my web sites. ..even to access my free videos will soon require a user login. This way, i can protect my videos and my Bandwidth!!! I am using PHP. But, you can use asp.net, or if you have web hosting on an apache server, you can password protect a folder or your entire site using .htaccess. You would do this in your hosting panel.

when you make the background a picture, how do you make it the full screen instead of being tiled?

What is the external style sheet used for? Is there another way to use css styles? I mean, do i have to use an external style sheet?
puggoff 3 years ago
the external style sheet will hold the styles we create and apply to the html (xhtml)
You can create inline styles or embedded styles, but they are not re-usable and they add to the code and size of the web page.
The latest recommendations call for xhtml and css 2.1 using external style sheets.
Using External style sheets is just one example of "working smarter, not harder".
Keep it simple.
