hello Dustin & Ally, could you tell me what the dipping/ rolling move is at 1:53 please? do you have a demonstration of how to do this move? thanks very much.
I use this video to help local dancers encourage for blues dancing. Both leads and follows here (Budapest, Hungary) are way to 'afraid' of blues: much too closed, much too sensual, much easy to misinterpret.
THANK YOU for postin', keep on doin' you goog job.
DANG! you guys are so awesome! blues dancing is so awesome I can barely stand it! And there's (practically) nothing in my area! ah well... keep on doing your thing, more videos would be great for us blues deprived.
@AnonBatch If you're going to wear shoes on a wood studio floor, you have to have nice ones that won't scuff it up. Most people I know find it easier (and cheaper) just to wear socks.
I have been searching for this type of instruction for a very long time. I didn't even know what to call it. The name of the dancing. I knew I liked to dance to the blues, but calling it "Blues Dancing" now that IS a tricky one.
Is there a way to do this and lead for a partner that is not practiced up? Rather like one could go to a wedding dance and lead during a Waltz.
I apologize for the late reply. Blues dancing can certainly be lead well enough to perform the fundamental movement with a partner that doesn't have any previous experience. My primary advice for practicing this would be to limit your own movement to clear, confident fundamentals such as weight shifts and traveling without the addition of musical styling that can often become unnecessary "noise" for your partner to follow. If you move confidently, you will instill confidence in your partner.
oooh weee man, that blues dance can be real close up and hands one, My wife might find me connecting with a more private part of my BODY if you know what i mean. Whooo. we gotta learn this
First of all, it's important to have staggered feet in order to have maximal body connection and to prevent from stepping on each other. In close embrace, generally, the center of the lead's right pectoral muscle is aligned with the center of the follow's chest. Connection is continued all the way to the stomach; a little space is left between the hips. The lead's right hand is placed under the follow's right shoulder blade.

Great lessons, breakdown, and demo. I've learned a lot that I've taken to the floor at Blues Kitchen LA.

Very cool, question though,
When your in close embrace what part of your body do you connect with exactly?

That's a good question,
