Great performance! May I ask what brand of tenor guitar this is? I'm looking for one, too (because ukes are not loud enough for unamplified outdoors playing). Thank you in advance! Subbed you, too. :-)
@mugambismonkey This is a Soares'y guitar. Mike Soares imports them from Portugal. Small operation out of NY, but the guitars are not very expensive -- small imperfections sometimes, but sound great! soaresyguitars(dot)com
Yes I saw Pat's videos playing 6 string. I remember seeing a 6 string nearby on one of his videos and figured that he also played one. I played 6 string for many years until arthritis problems began to be too painful. Now I just play my tenor and love it. It has opened up a whole new world musically.
Love your playing and singing! I guess the c/g chord is the hook that got me! I play a little Martin tenor tuned the same way, but never used that chord transition (until now). I think that you and Pat Walsh have the most interesting tenor guitar videos on you tube, because you stick to traditional tenor tuning with that wide tonal range that it has. Very enjoyable!
Thanks -- glad you enjoyed it. Also glad to hear there is another CGDA-er out there! I love Pat's videos too - did you see his new ones? (6-string; not tenor...)
Very very nice -- you have a fine voice and sound great on that tenor -- and no you are not crazy -- from there you can do a mandolin, mandola, mandcello, tenor banjo and so forth -- without breaking stride!
Great choice for an axe! Very nice sounding insturment -- I have a "baby" Soares'y but it doesn't have the punch that one does. Great job!
Thanks for the kind words. Mz brother has a tenor banjo that I have picked up once or twice. I also recently retuned my old Stella to GDAE (my tenors have always been tuned CGDA) and have just started goofing around with that. We'll see where it leads!
I checked out some of your videos -- I especially like "SOuthern Flavor"!
Hey, Very nice voice and good playing. The tenor guitar sounds good. Has a sort of harpsichordy, ringing type sound. I'll definitely being checking out more of your stuff.
