those who say Freud sucks and is a pervert means mainly because they have only a VERY cursory (surface) understanding of his contributions. They focus on a few controversial aspects of a larger and more comprehensive theory, and then (wrongly) summarily dismiss his entire body of work.

@AresRoar I do not want to argue, but Freud is not a charlatan.  He thought that he was helping people and doing good. He is also still a modern authority on dreams, and the way that many psychologists talk to their patients is how or resembles how Freud worked wit his patients. Also on another point i completely agree with you on the Darwin issue.

@TheHeakes You missed the point. It's is not that all male children want to "f" their mothers. What freud meant in simple terms. Is that male children develop their first connection of love to their mothers and the first connection of hate to their fathers. For example, the male child knows that he has to compete against his father for his mothers outmost affection. For the male child does not know of any other love that is close to unconditional love other than his mothers.

Frued helped people discover the root of their unhappiness but never truly offered a remedy for it.
