  • This song can be summed up into one sentence:

"Even though we are both miserable and together, at least we are not miserable and lonely."

  • ... what did they do to the poor dogie? 0.0

  • Awwwww. What a lovely song :)

  • i know people who seem like they hate each other but really are in love. this would be perfect for them :)

  • "The toilets broke and yet i bet his majesty aint fixed it yet"

    you got that right ^_^

"Get Your Fat Ass Outta Bed"

    nyu.....5 more minutes....

"You drowned my kittens one by one...you looked you were having fun..."

    Thats because I was :D

  • someone should seriously make a voltaire musical.

  • Comment removed

  • if it was i wasn't aware they had a previous live as fundamentalist christains which despised each other hmmm maybe its true but i ain't met the couple this is based on yet. :P if i ever was allowed by whoever i end up marrying i want this to be my wedding song as well. XD

  • Emilie Autumn is an amazing artist as well......but I don't see EA singing about being in a relationship with someone and being "glad" about it in the end.....

AFP is more believable to do so....

  • @MuffinSuffering thats the thing she was never glad about it neither of them were but the end of the song they are both dead and buried and they are "glad" because they both realize it could have been worse and its better to go through life with a little bit of misery than to go through life with noone to cause you that misery

  • haha as bad as it seems it's a rather cute song! that and I adore this they should do more duets they go good together~!

  • is it wrong i find this song really romantic <3

  • I wanna dance to this at my wedding someday <3 seriously.

  • so is this based on the truth...?

  • Emilie Autumn should have sang her part. That would have been great! But either way, this has to be one of my favorite Voltaire songs.

  • @304754 Why? Emilie Autumn has nothing on Amanda Palmer.

  • @pterodactyl2434 DAMN RIGHT.

    Amanda Palmer, hands down.

  • @304754 Because Emilie Autumn is great. I think she could have done it well.

  • @304754 I disagree. I mean, she would've probably sung it OK, but, in my opinion, she doesn't have half the ability or awesomeness as AFP. And I know you're going to disagree, but there you go, each to their own, go enjoy your opinion and I'll enjoy mine. :)

  • lol

  • This song is awesomesauce!! And a word of advice: Don't drown kittens!

  • who's he singing with? I like the voice of that person :P

  • @Bonjeram That would be Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls, though she also has her own solo work, too. I recommend looking into both her band and solo work.

  • @SaturnAngel587 ok! thanks! ^^

  • they should make a song called Divorce

  • you stabbed my mother, in the chest

    with a korean bayonet!

    died at this part lool

voltaire, i'm prod to be your fan

  • i love this song : D

  • This is such a fucked up, hilarious, somewhat romantic song! =}

  • would be quite nice as wedding song..

  • @socken101

XD My fiancee and I actually are using this as a wedding song. ;)

  • @AzraelHerzagoth congratulations for both of you, I think we'd all like to see the wedding on YouTube.

  • Anybody else notice that the girl singing is Amanda Fucking Palmer?!

I'm listening to the song wondering why the girl sounded so familiar, Their voices compliment each other perfectly. Two amazing artists by far!

  • @KoolJohn Dude, I love your comment. Amanda Palmer and Voltaire together... well that is something mindblowingly awesome.

  • Amanda Palmer + Voltaire =

    So freakin' perfect!

  • I'm having this played at my wedding. why you ask? Cuz it'll make me laugh (plus i have kittens! and everyone i've ever liked hates cats so it fits lol) WIN

  • I can't help laughing very hard at the korean bayonet-part. Best.Lovesong.Ever!

  • Definitely having this played at our wedding. Too bad he doesn't perform at weddings. He'd make a great addition to our zombie theme ceremony :D

  • @ChimericFX So much win.

  • Yep, new favorite Voltaire song. Sorry, "This Sea."

  • Ex-boyfriend sent this to me. I don't know whether to be flattered or not.

  • @BaileySaur It's about two people who thought they hated each other. in the end they realize it could have been worse and were happy to be together. So yes falttery all around.

P.S If he sends you "Furture Ex-Girlfriend" be offended.

  • a Korean bayonet?

  • @zorbakpants2 yes its a very large knife you put on the barrel of a rifle for CQB so you cna jsut stab and slash at your enemy if theyre too close to shoot

  • @zorbakpants2 a bayonet is a little knife like blade at the end of some rifles

  • Annabel Lee? O.o Love it!~

  • Aw, look. they really do love each other. :D

  • @TechUnadept now they do XD

or at least, now he can.

  • I wonder if this has ever been sung at a wedding?

  • @Katowjo9 I know I'd play it in mine.

  • Skeletons make great lovers !

  • Marriage in a song <3

  • @ElvenCelticRanger

    No. no you aren't

  • Personally, I think the sweet ending is more a reference to the fact that no one wants do die alone. So even though they weren't happy with each other in marriage, they were at least glad to have someone with them at the end.

  • Three people love kittens and dislike Korean Bayonets.

    Me, I love this song.

  • @BeorcKano HEY, I liek kitties :<

  • broccoli rules

    also, nice song

  • WAIT hes married?DAMN IT! missed my change!

  • my wedding song

  • This song is the best love song in existance it holds no bullshit

  • Put to sleep, means kill. to put down.

  • If I ever get married, I want this played at the wedding.

  • It's actually quite sweet that they don't get divorced... I don't know how they can sing of adultery and drowning kittens and make a sweet song, but they have!

  • @Religion0 I think the point is actually how NOT sweet a miserable marriage is compared to a divorce or simply dating. A sarcastic commentary on the "sanctity" of marriage.

    I loves it.

  • @Wilterna233 Did you miss the last part? In the end, they were glad they were stuck with each other.

Although you do have a point. It may be that I am simply biased against divorce, and as such see an, albeit bizarre, form of sweetness in staying together despite being miserable because you are together.

  • @Religion0 I did hear the last part and however bizarrely sweet it is, when you think about it in real terms, how many happy testimonials of dead formerly miserable married couples are there?

Lol I respect you for considering the possibility at least. I can see why you'd think that though, on the surface "death til you part" is a sweet notion but I've known some marriages that would've been better off ending than dragging on. Just some food for thought ^^

  • @Wilterna233 Well, true. And in the end, what do the living care?

Thank you, it's appalling how few people are capable of both considering that they are biased or that realizing such is respectable. ^_^ I am the product of a marriage that shouldn't have even begun (although it didn't drag on for too long), so I definitely know what you mean. However, people do tend to abuse the divorce option and gets married on a whim too often.

If this conversation is extending we should move it.

  • Does anyone else think this is a good song for a relationship between Sam and Freddie from iCarly?

  • @Deathstorm501

This comment is something I'd NEVER expect to see on a Voltaire song.

    But I totally agree,

  • you dont understand? it means she put them to sleep << or slept with them O-o i dont know

  • wait "you took to bed my favorite dog and all my friends" WTF

  • 3:05... swear to Jashin I hear msn dinging ><

  • 3 people have no life..

  • @Eilish145 like you ;D =P

  • @smoogirl Oh well xD

  • I wanna play this song to my wedding and my frinds wedding

  • i want this song played at my wedding!

  • 3 people thought this would be romantic to sing to their girlfriends.

  • This. Is....AWESOME.

  • Amanda Palmer is freaking awesome. I love her so much.

Brilliant song. These two are perfect for a duet.

  • "you drowned my kittens one by one you looked like you were having fun"

I don't know why but i thought that line was so freaking funny just picturing voltaire grinning evilly as he did so XD

    this song is so funny

    I love Voltaire!!!

  • @pickychese WHUT. DROWNIN KITTENS AINT NICE 3:<

  • @pickychese Doggy God praises you, KItty God curses you. You send out Pikachu. What does he attack with?

  • @Deathstorm501 Was I high when I wrote this? It looks like I was high when I wrote this.

  • I wonder what my girlfriend would say if I asked her to perform this with me?...

  • @mindgoesblank0 something along the lines of 'its over?' XD

  • @kehnie Quite probably ^w^

  • Voltaire>Everything

  • Am I weird for thinking the end is kinda romantic?

  • @ElvenCelticRanger Well, since it was supposed to be a love song, I'm willing to bet... Yes.

  • @ElvenCelticRanger Not at all. I think the same thing, especially the ending

  • @ElvenCelticRanger No, it's a romantic song.

  • @Ikehammer Well, you have to admit, it's hard to tell, considering the song also cotains kitten-drowning and bayonet stabbing, but I suppose that IS romantic for Voltaire.

  • @ElvenCelticRanger : Yes, but that makes two of us : )

  • @ElvenCelticRanger Nope not at all... Good call.

  • @ElvenCelticRanger lol no....i do too.....this is gonna be mine and my fiance first dance song lol

  • @ElvenCelticRanger Yes, youre a very disturbed little boy...boy?girl?Lady gaga thing? no, ill go with boy.

  • @sorrowedeyes In the end they feel happy to have been together, they had their somewhat extreme problems but for Voltaire standarts this is as romantic as it gets.

  • @ThePierrekirbyfanboy Yup, but many relationships have that even within two countries or groups of people.

  • @sorrowedeyes

Actually I am a girl. Maybe I am strange but don't compare me to lady Gaga. I like this song and I was just voicing my opinion.

  • I don't understand how this is amanda palmer, her voice sounds so different if it is her .

  • A non sappy love song...

Voltaire... I'm going to have to steal your brain for my own purposes.

  • Did you forget? You got me back. You chopped my thumb off with an axe!

  • 3 people have upside down screens

  • Aw, great song. Amanda Palmer's so great in that song.

  • IS THIS A DUET BETWEEN HIM AND HIS GIRLFRIEND/WIFE?!

  • @zombiesrcuming4u I'm so stupid :3

  • @zombiesrcuming4u no its him and amanda palmer ^^

  • @Stavrina46 that's why I said I was stupid

  • @zombiesrcuming4u

No, it is a duet with Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls. Look it up.

  • awwww this song makes wanna cry....

  • This is the best love-hate song ever!

  • Does this song remind anyone else of "I'll never tell" from Once More With Feeling?

  • She was your sister what's the fuss? LOL

  • love it. specially the end

  • I love the song but she sounds like a rusty knife skarving into a Cupboard ^^

    but i still love it.

  • @Tanqol *Gasp*

Did you just insult Amanda's voice?

    :O

  • This song is sooooo beautiful!!!

  • Those three people, they need to get that twitch in their hand checked out, they missed the "Like" button.

  • So sad those three people missed the 'Like' button.

  • onos teh kittens 0_0

  • @Yumyumtuna There were no kittens harmed in th- Pffffttthhh Nah I'm screwing you there dead.

  • 1 |0v3 7h15 50n6 50 fu(k1n6 mu(h!

  • u go voltaire u r awesome

  • Every body should find a freind of theirs thats a girl or thier girlfreinds and show her this song and sing it with her!

  • @PrivatePikachu1 good idea...but i think theyll slap u half way thru and walk away b4 the end

  • @nose1879 Yeah good point.....unless she was gothic

  • @PrivatePikachu1

8[ Are you implying all the people that listen to Voltaire are males? xD

But, yes, this is a great song for a couple with some dark humour. :D

  • @HeadfulOfHectic no im not im just saying that if they know someone with a girlfreind reccommend it to them and if you have a girlfreind listen to the song with her or him as the case may be.

  • @PrivatePikachu1 I didn't know a girlfriend could be a 'him'.

  • @Evanamd *shrugs* who knows maybe some gay couples prefer to be called girlfreind and boyfreind I dont know!

  • @PrivatePikachu1

A lot of the Crossdressers and Traps that I hang around prefer to be called She. :)

  • @corpsefireNL ok good for them

  • I'm gonna dance to this at my wedding.

  • OH I SIMPLY LOVE THIS SONG! <3 Very amusing how it starts out as a usual quarrel between two lovers and then gets so very morbid!

"You stabbed my MOTHER in the chest with a korean bayonette!" I just love that line XD

  • @ADevilFromHeaven I love how shocked he sounds at that part. As if he really just wants to say, "Seriously. WTF?"

  • my two favorite musicians. thank god!

  • great song but I'm still broke so what the fuck would I care. why would any of you feel anything from this kind of music ?

  • @Splangy1 Explain

  • Dude! The first time I listened to this song I thought the chick was a dude! Lmao! XD Then I listened to it again... And I still thought she sounded like a dude, but less, I guess. XD

  • @sihtekilsdrawkcabmi I had the same problem when i first heart his x.x

  • lol Stuck With You

  • This is going to be my wedding song ^^ Romantic I know.

  • @thexoxomanda that is total win my friend ^^

  • I was thinking the same thing

  • its sooo cute and sweet. i love this song!!!!!

  • and this is the perfect reason why you should all support gay marriage; everyone deserves the chance to be miserable!

  • @ell975 Voltaire = Badass Jesus

  • "I'm not sad i said, "I do."

I'm just glad I was stuck with you."

i just hope he loves me too...

    ^_^

  • @CarpeNoctemZise well he don't

  • Amanda Palmer + Voltaire = Awesome

  • When I get married this will be my wedding song.

  • Anything with Amanda Palmer is amazing.

Anything with this guy is amazing.

    Hence, this song is brocolli.

  • @ClarifyEht wait so this song is shit ? :S

  • @ClarifyEht anything but country music (it just doesnt work)

i hate to say it but his new albumn is the man upstairs

  • @ClarifyEht Can I get you to explain that?

  • @Religion0 relish? I don't know what you want from me! D:

  • @ClarifyEht You said the song is broccoli after saying that the singers can only make good songs. Isn't broccoli normally a bad thing?

  • @Religion0 Broccoli tastes good....are you saying broccoli tastes BAD??? >:(

  • @ClarifyEht Personally, I don't care much for it. But I'm actually referring to the fact that broccoli is normally considered to taste bad, yes.

  • @Religion0 well, broccolli is good. there.

  • @ClarifyEht If you say so.

  • @Religion0 broccolli is good because i post comments on the internet, therefor i MUST be right.

  • @Deathstorm501 You better be joking.

  • @Religion0 well, dur, of COURSE its a joke. What, did you think I was serious? what is it about that comment that could possibly ake you think I was serious? please, tell me. i want to know, so i can avoid doing it again.

  • @Deathstorm501 Not really, but you never know one the internet. That, and I was mostly kidding, too.

  • @Religion0 well, when joking like that, in written form, you need some sort of lead in, or punchline. sarcasm alone cant carry a oke on the internet.

  • @Deathstorm501 Not sarcasm, though, senseless humour, more like. I rarely make sense, especially not when joking or tired, both of which I were at the time.

  • @Religion0 funny, usually tired people make the funniest things on the internet. huh. well, there is always an exception. the only rule that has no exceptions is rule #34. Hur Hur Hur.

  • @Deathstorm501 I'm usually quite entertaining when I'm tired, but not on the internet. I just can't be bothered to do all the funny things. Such as making far too obvious hints at my much too subtle humour.

  • This song is actually pretty sweet....in a morbid way.

  • A girl that sat behind me in French class lent this cd to me a few months ago and I love it so much!!!! THis was my favorite song <3 Amanda Palmer!!! OMG!!

  • A song that finally explains what marrage TRULEY is!

  • This song is sooo perfect for my and my boyfriend it fits us both so well hee hee/=D

  • Voltaire is a dude the other one is a lady by the name of Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls.

  • If Voltaire ever comes to my town, I would definitely try to get the electric violin gig. xD

  • this song is basically bringing up every chick flick, romantic comedy, and romance movie ever made to the extreme, and it rocks! voltaire is my fav singer!
