  • Hey do you go to UM College Park?

  • @A2Kaid yes i am actually

  • @TowerzBetchz

That's neat so do I. I've also struggled with urticaria I know what it's like... :-/

  • Hey everybody, I suffered from hives for the first time ever on and off for 2 months. Then I came across information about vitamin D deficiency and how its linked to chronic hives. My recent blood test results did in fact show that I had dangerously low vitamin D levels. I immediately purchased vitamin D supplements and have been free of hives since!

  • have you checked out the hivesinfo channel? her videos give some info from her all-natural dr. also have you seen this video? it's informational too:

    watch?v=xKMDHqDKWAI

    i'm in maryland. :)

zyrtec has been working for me now - but we'll see how long it works.

  • hi molly :)

i've suffered chronic hives for about 15 years now. i've been through allergy testing and several elimination diets and have found no answers. allegra has given me the best results, but during some of my longer bouts, it will stop working. i also have wondered if allegra is making me gain weight. my hives get worse right around the time of my period as well, which leads me to think it's something hormonal. perhaps it is something relating to our thyroid? thanks for reaching out. :)

  • your case sounds exactly like mine! i have also found that allegra doesnt help during the long times the hives come! and i feel the same way about gaining weight bc i started to really gain weight when i started the medicine. i got my thyroid checked bc i have family history of a bad thyroid, but that was years ago and they said i was fine but its possible that it was too early to tell.

  • @raksanais

I was suffering from unexplained hives too then I found out it was caused by a chemical the city began adding to tap water called Chloramine. Google it and you will find out of hundreds of people getting rashes and hives from Chloramine. Avoidance of this chemical just might be your cure as it was mine.

  • im curious Molly ..are you blood type O ?

  • no im not im actually B positive

  • @dietodaydotcodotuk i have blood type O and i have hives. our you saying there is a connection?

  • I only break out when exposed to heat, any embarassment, bad dreams, hardly any excercise. lifting something heavy. i dont mind the bumps its the excruciating pain. i mostly stay at home now. ive had it since october 24th. no medicine cuz i have no medican insurance plus it prolly wouldnt help with my case its severe and different than yours:(

  • yours does seem different from mine, i do know that there are some hives that come out bc of heat so thats probably what you have. use cold dish towels and lots of ice it relieves the pain

  • "Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food" said the father of modern medicine Hippocrates

..syntheic foods are bad, go natural, no GM ..no pesticides... has anyone here ever tried organic fruit and veg over gm.. ORGANIC WINS HANDS DOWN!! i realise i hadnt eaten a seeded grape in years..most supermarkets dont have them - but i found some organic seeded red grapes..they tasted like heaven..I swear to you, seeds are meant to be there * we needless seedless *

  • 1st up - i want to say thanks for your inspiring video.

Im going to make this sound as simple as possible - after all the research ive done, no matter what the medical term seems to be Urticaria this and Urticaria that... its all linked, im finding that its all connected to the stomach / gut

  • how many of you have gallbladder issues, or leather couches?

  • I was diagnosed with prurigo nodularis around 4 years ago. I had it around 2 years before I got given a diagnosis. GP's were just not interested, I had to go back and fore to the them on a weekly basis before I got sent to dermologist. Had UVB light treatment for a year at the hospital, it all cleared up, 3 months went by and I thought the prurigo coming back, but ithe lumps were different. I was told by the GP that it was hives and should clear. It hasn't and I have had it ever since.

  • thats really interesting about them coming up after the treatment...i wonder why that happened? If you have developed chronic hives then you might be stuck with them forever, cuase my doctors told me they would clear up and its been 8 years since then but the good news is that i can manage them now for the most part, so there is hope

  • i have Cholinergic hives,i break out in hives and a intense pain that feels like my skin is on fire all over, happens when i get hot, sun, embarassed, walk a little, cant work or anything, have to stay indoors cuz i cant get warm or i break out in pain, its very frustrating for me and my fiance

  • Omg thats awful! what kind of medicine are you taking? How long have you been like this?

  • Jack,

I hope yours do not turn into chronic hives, there are lots of cases where they only last a short period of time, so hopefully you are one of those. The comment before you also said that they used predisone so I definitely think I will try that once my medicine runs out! Thank you for your insight and comment!!

  • @yllom6ylime The only problem with the drugs that work is they all have powerful side effects. Prednisone I think causes osteoperosis long term.

  • I have had hives for about a week now and I am on prednisone. It helps pretty well except after around 22 hours it wears off and I am itchy until I take some more. I am deathly afraid this is going to be chronic. WHYYYYYYY

I cant imagine reading all these comments about having it for years or months. I would shoot myself.

  • I really hope yours go away soon!!! I know a few people who get them for a few weeks but thats it, they never come back, so hopefully you are one of those lucky people. And I will have too look into prednisone since you said it works really well...i'm willing to try anything at this point!

  • @yllom6ylime Also prednisone weakens your immune system a lot. I got a bad sore throat now because my immune system was turned off by the prednisone basically. If the hives arent too bad, its best to just deal with them and stay off the drugs.

  • I'm 18 and I've had hives for 9 years. I can totally relate to everything you are saying! Having hives sucks! I feel like I've missed out on so much because if it. Benadryl is the only thing that works for me...I've become immune to claritin/zyrtec/clarinex/allergra...everything! I have been getting hives virtually everyday for 9 years. Have you tried a low dose of thyroid medicine?

i just started .025 mg of synthroid and it is actually helping quite a bit...50% less hives now!

  • you its funny that you mention thyroid medicine, because both my mom and my grandma both have thyroid issues, so maybe there is a correlation there? i will have to give it a shot so thank you for the advice!! and goodluck with everything, i know it really does suck at times :(

  • I've had mine for over 30 years now and sometimes I get a couple of months respite but mostly its with me ALL of the time. Steroids - don't work. Zirtec & Ranitadine together 4-6 times a day doesn't do too much but it's the best combination I have found - only problem is that I fall asleep if I'm 'still' for any period of time. I've read about lack of B12 being a cause? Lack of VitC? Does anyone find that when you drink alot - get really plastered - that it just goes and can stay away for a day!

  • omg 30 years! thats horrible i am so sorry. I've never heard some of that before, but hey if getting drunk helps thats a plus lol!! my dad just told me he heard about someone who got bit by a tick that caused them to become allergic to eating beef. There was a document about it, but im thinking this is an extremely rare case. But anyways i have also tried taking a ton of my medicine and it seems to help too

  • It sucks big time, been dealing for 10 years. Be strong!

  • I have recently been diagnised with Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. I have only had my hives everyday for the past 60 days... I can't imagine this lasting any longer. Thanks for sharing your experience as it helps me get more info. I have tried many different cocktails of medications and none of them work :o( I even went on teh highest does of Prednisone that you can take and it did nothing.... so I am taking some time off work to figure it all out. Thanks again for posting this video.

  • thanks for sharing ur story. i have mine for 9 months , just today when i woke up i saw they r getting worse ;( this is really depressing.... plus i dont have job :( getting crazy

  • do you have any ideas of why you get them? also maybe try getting on a new medicine since maybe your body is getting used to the one your on if you are on one.

  • i have any idea how i did get them :( . i did try a lot medicines... alegra doesnt work for me... now im with prednisone

  • hmmm ive never heard of that but maybe i should check it out. my alegra is working right now it didnt for awhile but now its back to working so im going to stick with it till it stops. but for me ive noticed the main causes are probably stress, fragrances, and possibly products that are normally used during "that time of the month". im using the Diva Cup right now instead and my hives havent been showing up for over a month so i think it may have helped

  • It's so nice to here someone else talk about there hives for one because in my case i dont know anyone else who has them. feels like im all alone. people can say it will be ok and that they understand but they really dont. ive had mine for only two months but mine are really bad there on the fronts and backs of my arms. the same for my legs. there on my belly back. just everywere. for me i think that it is more depressing than anything. its so nic to see and here someone else talking about it.

  • thats how mine were at first too. they were so bad all over my body that i wouldnt even leave the house. i know what you mean about people saying its ok, they have NO idea what its like and its not their fault but its still hard to feel better about it. i really hope yours dont last as long as mine did and hopefully they will be going away soon1

  • what kind of medicine r u taking?
