I wouldn't even question the authenticy. I mean, there's a game by Sega, that uses urine as an input controller, game shows in which the participants are expeceted to fart on camera etc, so why not this?
@cmilla646 lol its hilarious to fin your baby clean the floor.... it is kinda degrading to the baby even though it doesn't know it yet. but its very useful people are just upset over a new concept
Do you realize japs made bonzai-kittens, whom you grow into wierd shapes by putting them into a bottle of strange structure and then keep the kitten alive, so it lives an extraordinarily painful life?
Do you realize japs buy used panties from schoolgirls, sold in vending machines?
Do you realize japs have rapes in almost all their pornography?
All this, and you don't believe they made a baby into a mop???????
@Pinkaugust the bonzai kitten thing was a scam! Sadly, the rest of it is true! Apparently, they also have monster porn which features cartoons of squid and octopi who use their tentacles to rape a girl (the girl is usually drawn to look like a 13 year old schoolgirl) Bizarre!
@Rachiejane1 As far as I can tell, the child doesn't come to any harm at all. It just does what it usually does, what it's supposed to do, but with something attached to itself, making that menial task of learning to crawl and soon walk into a perfectly working chore without any pressure.
At least, that's how I see it. If my kids could clean the floor while having fun, and not getting harmed in any physical or mental way in the process, I say why not.
@Pinkaugust But it's mental! Would you really do it to your child! I don't think it would do any harm but I wouldn't do this to any child of mine - how humiliating, even if the child doesn't realise what's going on! Although, I suppose it's like those weird people who dress their dogs as ladybirds or frogs - the dog runs around trying to get the costume off unaware of people laughing at him because it looks stupid! You have a point but... just why!?
@Rachiejane1 Why is it child abuse, really?? You're not hurting the child, you're not forcing the child to work. You're actually keeping it away from all that dust and shit that the baby would normally get ALL over its clothes, now it just gets picked up by the mop, so the baby is cleaner, and the floor is cleaner...
@Pinkaugust The objectification and emotional harm of a child not child abuse?! I suppose *some* babies *might* enjoy it and think it is part of a game, but what mother in their right mind thinks "I know what, I'm going to use my baby to clean the dust off the floor by turning it into a human mop" apart from a very sick one!? What next, shoving a tube in it's mouth and telling it to suck like a hoover?!!
@Rachiejane1 Do you seriously believe that a child would see itself as objectified if it gets to play on the ground? I don't think the marketing idea of this product is that the child become the housemaid, more like "if it's already going to be down there crawling around, it makes sense to kill two birds with one stone. If not for the mop, the kid would get dirty anyway. Now you save yourself some trouble... About the sick mind-thing... It's japan, of course they're sick. :P
I thinks its pretty funny, I'd buy it for my friends kids. Those lil punks are gonna be on the ground anyways until they can walk. When they get a lil older you can fuck with them about it too.
It's a chindogu. It's not a real product. It's a sort of art form, completely absurd inventions that could work but that no one would ever actually use.
Has nobody ever seen the music video for Jet's Rollover DJ? This is the parody TV commercial before the band's intoduction on a fake Japanese music and dance themed TV show as part of the intro to the song.
c'mon this is not a problem this is a highlight- they know what a fun commercial is... these type of commercials keeps you wondering and wondering IS IT REAL OR NOT. unlike those gay commercials of Elvive or something -_-
That's completely fake. I haven't ever seen such a TV commercial which is unfashionable and unsophisticated. Incidentally, I'm a full Japanese who lives in Japan.
By the way, the narration of the commercial essentially goes "Your baby isn't a mop! You're a terrible mom!" "But now your baby IS a mop!" *introduces name of product* "Don't be a bad mom, baby mop, new product" (shinhatsubai means new product)
I just checked, and yeah, it's a real product. Only 500 yen too! (about 5 bucks)
i think its a funny joke, even though i myself am a japanese.
and about the "weird" things you people talk about.. ive been living in this country for 22 years but ive never seen a vending machine selling underwear lol
its true there are so many weird things in Japan, but hey, we can say the same thing for every single country on this planet.
I've been living in Japan for the past 8 years. The product is not real. The Japanese, as different as they may be from you, still have a sense of ethics and morality. They would find this as offensive (or funny) as you would.
Only in adult shops. They're not just scattered over the sidewalks like some would imagine. I have however seen unworn (like new) underwear being sold in vending machines. If you think about it though it makes a lot of sense, especially for ladies and those with weak stomachs.
go to japan. You'll see how mistaken you are.. xD they have penis festivals with several giant dong float which the whole family goes to see. That commercial is probably real.
Well, it's all relative. I would suppose that we're weird in Europe or elsewhere as well. I have to say that to me, some of the things in Japan are weird, but by comparison, America is hardly "normal". It all comes down to the issue of what we were raised with. Normality is relative.
On the other hand, I have to say, yeah, there are a ton of racist comments about Japan, which don't make me happy either--and I'm not asian, ahah.
Well.. I understand an aversion to stereotyping Japanese.. but I still remeber a real product called "Darkie Toothpaste"... it had me guessing for a second.
Being Japanese and having done some Googling, I can tell you that it is real. Unfortunately.
Japan's current generation of parents are notorious for being idiots. It's a social phenomenon that researchers (yes, researchers, real researchers) are calling "monster parents" -- they're socially stigmatized semi-schizophrenic parents that don't make a lick of sense in what they do or say.
They're the Japanese equivalent of urban rednecks.
agreed, any society that's able to sell used panties, "boyfriend" pillows with arms, and tentacle porn is most definitely going to sell some crazy shit.
I think its real because its not funny enough to NOT be real... Get what I mean? Like if we saw that on SNL or something, wouldn't it be more extreme or something?
And the Japanese do come out with some really kooky products.
It's a real product. Japanese don't have the same sense of moralism as Americans. Japanese think in terms of communal benefits, multiple uses of same product, etc.
I think its real too... I think they really figured: Hmm... That baby crawling around is not helping me at all. How can we put that to use? There ya go!
This is the equivalent of people in Japan thinking one of those SNL mock commercial skits are real.
The picture version of this product has been floating around the internet for almost 10 years. I used to get emails from bored people at work sending me these weird fake Japanese inventions.
It looks like baby labor to me. The little guy doesn't even realize he's cleaning the floor. How long does a baby crawl for anyway? The question might be; Does it work well enough to use or be used in that way? It looks like a gag because there are more effective ways to clean up and the outfit could be dangerous for the kid.
OK...one...LOVE IT!!! omg...that is the funniest thing.
Two...wouldn't surprise me if it were real...they come up with the weirdest shit...Pillows in the shape of a woman's lap for men to lay their widdle heads on when they are lonely....the list of odd goes on and on...lol I'm gonna go ask my net pal...she's in Tokyo.....lol I will just DIE if it is real and will be ordering it ASAP! lol
this is a good example of chindogu the japanese artform of unuseless inventions. things that may seem handy or usefull but never really are when you think about it
I think the girl is not at the same level (lower) than Cenk. Actually, she is like all 20-30 years contemporary people. Impossibly naive, self-centered, shallow, abnoxious and prejudiced.
Why, empirical evidence gives the privilege of generalizations. While all your type of neoliberal lamers think that all claims are selfish opinions and claims for selfish interests, I always could think scientifically. And Cenk agrees with me that the girl is hopeless.
Didn't you know that lumping people into some sweeping generalization ALWAYS helps them to see your point of view?
Attitudes like yours are exactly why politics are such a mess in this country--too many people are busy making generalizations and taking cheap shots at the other side to have the time to get anything done.
and for the corners: rat-mob, finally we have a reason to never teach them how to walk ^^, looks a 100 percent real, its not a SNL equivalent, the japanese arent really known for their dry humor, if it was a joke you would recognize (probably some pip of a laughing hot girl or nerdy men)

The picture version of this product has been floating around the internet for almost 10 years. I used to get emails from bored people at work sending me these weird fake Japanese inventions.

it's real. trust me.

I don't trust you. Mostly because I know it's a skit from a Japanese comedy show.

If it doesn't harm the baby, it's just a very(very) strange product.

The translation:
Your baby is not a mop. You are the worst mother.
But now your baby can be a mop

It looks like baby labor to me. The little guy doesn't even realize he's cleaning the floor. How long does a baby crawl for anyway? The question might be; Does it work well enough to use or be used in that way? It looks like a gag because there are more effective ways to clean up and the outfit could be dangerous for the kid.

Even if it's fake, I garantuee there are baby mops in japan.

I think the girl is not at the same level (lower) than Cenk. Actually, she is like all 20-30 years contemporary people. Impossibly naive, self-centered, shallow, abnoxious and prejudiced.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
You lump a group of people together into one category and then you accuse her of prejudice. Hypocritical much?
Also? Obnoxious is spelled with an "O".
ChelsRae42985 3 years ago
Why, empirical evidence gives the privilege of generalizations. While all your type of neoliberal lamers think that all claims are selfish opinions and claims for selfish interests, I always could think scientifically. And Cenk agrees with me that the girl is hopeless.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Didn't you know that lumping people into some sweeping generalization ALWAYS helps them to see your point of view?
Attitudes like yours are exactly why politics are such a mess in this country--too many people are busy making generalizations and taking cheap shots at the other side to have the time to get anything done.

and for the corners: rat-mob, finally we have a reason to never teach them how to walk ^^, looks a 100 percent real, its not a SNL equivalent, the japanese arent really known for their dry humor, if it was a joke you would recognize (probably some pip of a laughing hot girl or nerdy men)
