Some humans are always living in the past, comparing Singapore to 3rd world countries, whilepatriotic S'poreans are now comparing our living standards to 1st world countries - and rightly so, since our ministers pay themselves each more than leaders of USA + Canada + Germany + Japan + Italy + France + UK + Spain (G8) COMBINED!
Then there are some humans who don't know head or tail about a foreign country but choose to support its dictator. We call such "humans" running dogs :)
Lee did not agree to Mahathir's Malay Malaysia plan. So he wanted to build a Singaporean Singapore. But now it seems that it has turned into a Foreignoporean Singapore.
My conclusion, no matter how good the ruling party, we should have a opposition party. Ratios like 70:30 or 60:40 would be ideal.
The reason is because such representative ratios allow one party to govern the country efficiently, yet allow the other party to effectively check on the ruling party.
Again, Look back to Malaysia, our ruling party government still cannot do better than last time and more worst although they lost many parliament seats, now they let us disappointed again!! so we gonna change this useless ruling party in the future election. They have no more chance to manage our country...!!
Malaysian vote to opposition party due to government abuse power in privilege, blockade economic policy, corruption, etc.
The advantage of use internet to have a free speech, it will definitely effect the country politic especially in Malaysia.
The election in year 2008, malaysian need to change party, the 3 main factors is because our government still cannot make a good job in economic development, maintain stability and security issue.
i knew, my singapore friend told me that their government salary extremely high.
Singapore restrict certain topic defamatory to the PAP, same case in malaysia... Luckily, it is almost impossible to regulate free speech on the internet.
Singapore's PM is getting a salary > leader of USA + Canada + UK + France + Japan + Germany + Italy + Spain COMBINED.
Thus Singaporeans are justified to compare PAP's performance to those of these 8 countries. And the comparison shows that PAP is not fit to receive such salary and such salary is simply a form of leegalised corruption.
im malaysian, please understand the malaysia politic situation before post a comment ok? do you know the reason why even the opposition party win, but it doesn't make any improvement, think carefully who still governing the nation?!
Mao Zedong also advocated "big democracy", does it mean he is democraric? North Korea is called the DEMOCRATIC People's Republic of Korea, which just had an election (Kim Jong Il's son got elected)
Myanmar also had an election last year.
The Nazi Party came to power through election.
But there is one difference.
Real democracy allows for check and balance, disallowing one-party rule and fights against tyranny.
Human always forget the history...i will support PAP MR.Lee if i stay in Singapore one day...

Therefore, Malaysia opporsition party can won 82 out of 222 parliament seats.
We don't care about what corruption, at least they should fulfill these 3 requirement.
Nonetheless, the comparison between Malaysia and Singapore. Singapore is consider very good.

Fake democracies don't.
That's how you see them apart.

Sinkies are waiting for government to tell them to change.
A few wise people are trying to lead, but the Old Fart and his gang are oppressing them and Old Fart's 66.6% gongkias are helping to stop the change.
