I am of 20 years and not even American, I am just as cynical as you. I knew Obama would show his colours soon enough. I didn't allow myself to hope for anything other than a spin doctor. Nothing will change under Obama, nothing of any substance anyway. I'm not sure whether votes will ever be able to change this situation, or at least it wont be able to change if we continue to have our liberties taken. yeah, methadone4life- i read alot on this last night after ella's vid. i can see where Obama was coming from, seeing his response on his website, plus reading the whole thing. i still don't agree completely with him on this, but yeah- we can't just give up because we disagree. even our best friends disagree, sometimes bigtime, but that doesn't mean i'm giving up on them. bottomline, we haven't seen anything yet if McCain is in office. peace, man.

Yup, this is a big one to me, a serious misstep. I think he really missed the boat on how important this is to people, people like me. As someone who was cautiously hopeful about Obama, I can't even begin to understand his reasoning on this - either as a Democrat, a member of Congress, or just a venal politician trying to get elected. On one side, the constitution and the American people, on the other, the Bush Administration and the telecoms. It doesn't look like a hard decision to me.
