I have an option to go with A380 Qantas or Cathay Pacific 747? Its a 13 hour flight to London, Cathay is 2 hours longer (stopping in Hong Kong) Where as Qantas is stopping in Singapore?
@jackajacob 'tis a puzzlement, but I think I would opt for the A380 only because of the chance to fly new equipment. Have you been to both Singapore and/or Hong Kong before? Were you planning on stopping over to spend time? All to be considered in your decision. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@travelswithsheila Thanks for your reply, I plan on travelling around Europe i will only stop some where as a stop over place, but not stay stay a night..... Im obsessed with Hong Kong very very very very very much, i cant express how much i like that city.. (Thats Hong Kong im talking about, not the airport)
The route to HK is longer, but the A380 as you said would be alot more of an experience, though i would not care less after 6 hours of the flight, Have you been on the A380?
I hope you travel more often with an asian carrier. They have similar or better products like the one you see on the CX flight. Singapore airlines, Asiana Airlines, Eva Air, Malaysia Airlines and Japan Airlines. Just to name a few...
@dellafone I would love to travel more with Asian carriers. Unfortunately, or fortunately, we stay loyal to United Airlines because of our status. They upgrade us if economy is overbooked, we're allowed in Business Class Lounges even when flying economy. Just two of the perks that rewards loyalty. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@mash4321 No. Used miles on American Airlines for free tickets. Hope you have a good experience. At one time Cathay Pacific was the number 1 airline and I can see why. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@travelswithsheila Cathay Pacific is now flying to Chicago and I hope they will kick off United Airlines from Chicago-Hong Kong route. Because on Chicago-Hong Kong route United Airlines is using the 747 without a ptvs in the economy class.
im sad why are they avoiding my country sheila, im a filipino, yes its a poor country but its still worth visiting the philippines afterall. by the way i have the same review with cathay pacific, i like the entertainment tech most of all, if you tried their business class lounge in hk, boy, its awesome...but im giving a poor rating with their customer service though, ive been flying with them from sfo-hk-mnl 16x already and they have been consistent with it. lol
@dikkygreggy01 For sure people should visit the Philippines. The same with Indonesia, India, and so many other countries that when we tell people we're going, get a "Are you crazy?" They are the crazy ones and don't know what they are missing. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@Ahuntsicspotter So sorry, but I don't. That was the first time we ever flew on Cathay Pacific. Thanks for watching though, Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@travelswithsheila I would like to know iff you took the Cathay Pacific to Hong-Kong from the United-States. Cathay Pacific is serving the U.S.A. with San-Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.
@Ahuntsicspotter We flew United Airlines from Chicago non-stop to Hong Kong. United is our carrier of choice. We stick like glue to keep our 100K status and accumulate those all important miles. Sheila
@travelswithsheila United Airlines is only the airline who is offering a direct flights from Chicago to Hong-Kong. But iff I visit Cathay Pacific web site and enter Hong-Kong and Chicago, they sending me thru LAX with Cathay Pacific and American Airlines. Also on Chicago-Hong-Kong route United Airlines is using a Boeing 747-400 with out a ptv in the economy class.
@Ahuntsicspotter Not anymore! hahah, Cathay Pacific introduced their new ORD-HKG route a couple months ago. Direct flights from O'Hare to Hong Kong are available now!
@lilxlakerbo1 Thanks I now that and I would like to wish a sucess to Cathay Pacific on Chicago-Hong Kong route with their Boeing 777-300ER. I hope to see United Airlines suffering from Cathay Pacific competition I don't think to see United Airlines retrofiting its 747s with ptvs. However you contributing to the US economy while flying Cathay Pacific because some Cathay Pacific aircrafts are made in USA.
@Ahuntsicspotter A majority of Cathay's long haul fleet is made up of Boeing aircraft, particularly their 777-300ERs and the cargo fleet of 747s. Really goes to show how far ahead of the game Boeing is in fuel efficiency compared to Airbus. And yeah, United really needs to get their priorities straight. It's ridiculous nowadays for any long haul aircraft (especially 747s) to not have P-TV's for such a long flight. Even JetBlue has P-TVs, and they don't even fly long-haul!
@lilxlakerbo1 Thanks for the info I hope to see Cathay Pacific causing a dammage to the United Airlines and also Cathay Pacific is having a partner in the United States who is American Airlines. Also Cathay Pacific is the largest operator between United States and Hong-Kong I think. Me I live in Canada and Cathay Pacific is flying to Canada to. Where? Vancouver and Toronto and between Hong-Kong and Canada Cathay Pacific is competing with Air Canada.
Great video, Sheila! I really enjoyed this. I did not know how nice economy was on Cathay. I think it was great for you to have shown us this video. I really liked the camera where you could see the landing. You look so happy and you look like you're having a great time!
@sfflyer123 Thank you for your nice comments. I'm usually, and I do mean usually, excited traveling and I loved that camera! Best regards, Travels With Sheila
