I still love playing music games. I can't speak for Rocksmith, but Rock Band 3's pro guitar mode is very fun and educational at the same time. I look forward to discovering the latest Rock Band DLC every week. I have dedicated several hours and dollars into the series and I will be there until the end. It's not the mainstream sensation that it was five years ago, but I still enjoy playing music games.

Your interpretation of rocksmith is rather damaging Layne. This is a game that teaches people how to play an instrument. Any game that can be fun AND teach people a real skill should be praised, even if it is only a niche market. This is the power of the video game medium and you shouldn't just brush it off like you did.

I liked guitar hero and that made me wanna try the real guitar but I thought learning a real guitar was boring so when I saw rocksmith I got excited because you use a real guitar and it's a game. This way you learn more because it is fun. =)

rocksmith is awesome, it lets you learn to play a real guitar in a fun setting. i played it for several hours yesterday. its amazing, it has helped me take guitar that has been collecting dust in the corner and really start learning how to play. its like guitar lessons made fun.

I'm psyched 'cause I have an electric guitar just sitting in my closet waiting to get played, but I'm never quite in the mood.

I actually might get the rocksmith thing (when it gets down in price) since I have an electric guitar that I never got around to learning (and an acoustic guitar given to me by my dad) and might want to find time to learn it without having to spend lots of money on lessons and be able to do it when I actually feel up to it and not have to go around a teaching schedule. It is definitely going in a right direction teaching people to play as they go. I think it looks pretty interesting.
